Summary
At twenty-two years old, Evan Buckley arrives at Station 118 carrying little more than a canvas duffel bag and a lifetime of survival instincts honed from an abusive childhood. Desperate to earn his place under the quiet guidance of Captain Bobby Nash, Evan guards his life with rigid precision, hiding who he is. His hyper-vigilant distance immediately alienates senior firefighters Hen, Chimney, and Eddie Diaz, but Evan’s courage under fire and instinctive gentleness with vulnerable victims begin to reveal fractures in his defensive armour.
The walls around Evan begin to truly dissolve when Eddie’s son, Christopher, visits the station and instantly brings out Evan’s bright, affectionate warmth. Slowly a friendship is formed but Evans worst fears come to light as his past is revealed and he is pushed to breaking point.
As Eddie starts to realise just how much Evan means to him and just how wrong he was about him, he starts to try and find a way to forgiveness.
Evan takes his place alongside the 118, stepping onto the slow, fragile path of rebuilding trust, claiming a found family, and learning that love does not have to be earned through survival alone.
