Summary
After the war, Naruto did everything right. He trained to become Hokage, married the girl who loved him, and welcomed a son, believing love was supposed to be easy. Far from Konoha, Sasuke decided that whatever he felt for Naruto had never been an option, and went back to the one person he knew would never turn him away.
Now they’re fathers, each carrying duties of his own. Naruto stays, determined that his son will never know the loneliness he did, and calls it the life he always dreamed of. Sasuke leaves, determined that the people he loves will never be hurt, and calls it an obligation.
But as the years pass, they both begin to see the truth. This isn’t the life either of them wanted to build. It’s only the life they have, and all they can do is learn to accept it.
