"Hey shitty old curse, come out wherever you are so we can finish this quick." Satoru drawled as he entered the old abandoned building, typical place for a typical curse. "If you come out yourself I'll make it quick."
This was the last mission he needed to take care of this week. Already running around completing missions everywhere, his migraine was a constant beating in his head, making his eyes burn. He just wanted to go back and sleep. He was exhausted to the bone, despite RCT running its full course. He hadn't slept properly throughout that week, infinity running. He was reaching his limit, not that he would admit it even to himself.
" Well that's just very rude, Six Eyes. You didn't even look at me before declaring me old. Now that's not very nice. "
Well, it could speak. Great. Fucking great. It had intelligence and it can speak, so it probably is a conscious special grade curse.
He quickly evaluated his options, the city nearby made hollow purple out of question, leaving only red and blue along with his domain to his disposal.
He six eyes saw the surge of cursed energy before he felt it as he dodged the attack and turned in the direction it came from, only to find no one there. The cursed spirit was toying with him. It was annoying hin, his migraine worsening at its screechy voice and overwhelming cursed energy.
"You should always judge a book by its cover, Six Eyes. It's pretty low to generalise curses. Some can be drop dead gorgeous."
"Oh please I know what drop dead gorgeous looks like and you aint gonna be it."
The curse suddenly zoomed in on his face, limitless coming in between them to protect him. "You gay or something?"
He hurled red at it, pissed at how quickly it was able to dodge it. His patience was runnig thin now, "You sure you want those to be your last words? "
"Think on yours FIRST!!"
Everything shifted, the ground slipping beneath his feeat. He felt himslef falling, all kinds of noises and bright lights overwhelming his six eyes. "Fuck" what the hell even was this is? The onslaught was continuous, the curse screaming in a shrill voice on top of it. He couldn't make sense of his surroundings, everything changing so quickly to decipher anything.
He kept falling.
His ears kept on ringing.
His vision started swimming.
What the hell?
" YOU SEE NOW JUST HOW AWESOME I AM ! "
Thinking was becoming a struggle now. This fucking curse had worsened his migraine tenfold and now his six eyes were going into overdrive trying to find a damn way out.
"How the hell are you doing this?"
What was its technique? When had he been hit? He hadn't let infinity down so how—
The curse was suddenly close to his face, its eyes staring down at his face. "Were you having a headache, Six Eyes? It's quite easy to use your weakness against you."
It was mocking him. "Fuck you."
The curse took that as a compliment, increasing its onslaught tenfold, his six eyes piercing his very being. He could still hear the curse cackling somewhere around him. He simple had no other way.
"Domain expansion: Infinite Void."
The instant relief would have made him sob if he could have found a single ounce of energy in him. It had been a domain, his mind supplied as an afterthought, his vision already fading on the edges. He allowed himself a damn minute, trying to catch his breath. The curse stood somewhere in his domain, silent and numb from all the information its brain had received. 'Isn't fucking fun, is it?' , he thought bitterly.
He would have laid there some more, the absolute silence of his domain welcoming, had it not been shattered. He groaned internally, aware it couldn't have been the shitty old curse who had shared it. His migraine was too much, his head felt as if being drilled through and his eyes burning. He just wanted to curl up in his room. But no, someone had to break his domain, probably from outside.
Familiar cursed energy he tried to forget everyday enveloped his senses as the world came into focus. 'Fuck this'. He made no effort to move or acknowledge the special grade curse user that had decided to grace him with his damning presence, collapsing against the wall inside that damn building and closing his eyes.
This was such a shitty day. His migraine, his eyes pushed to their very limit and now his heart ripped apart. He could already imagine his sorry state afterwards.
"Hey Satoru, fancy seeing you here."
He neither found the energy nor trusted himslef to reply, his own name from those lips clenching his heart.
"Satoru?"
"You're here for your arsenal right? Take the damn thing and fuck off." Like you did back then.
He opened his eyes slightly, even the dimness of the entire building being too much for him. He endured it nonetheless, and found Suguru staring at him in quiet thought while his hands worked to absorb the curse into an orb. Of course.
He kept his eye slightly open, watching Suguru , still in those ugly robes, absorb the curse and waited for the reaction he knew would come with a special grade.
Suguru had gotten better at hiding it, Satoru noticed hazily as a wince escaped Suguru.
Satoru fished out the throat lozenge he always had with him and hurled it with all his strength and aim that he could muster. It landed a hit on Suguru's forehead.
Good.
"What the—" Suguru stopped short as he noticed what it was, eyes widening in surprise, " Why do you still have this?"
He himself has no fucking idea why he still carries those around four years later, "Teleportation. Motion sickness." Liar.
"Right."
An awkward silence, which had always used to be absent between them, hung heavy in the air now. Satoru hated how everything had come to this.
"Satoru, is it your migraine again?"
"I'm fine, just need a fucking minute."
"You're clearly not fine, you're just letting those higher ups order you around. And for what, some fucking monkeys—"
"I DON'T WANT TO LISTEN TO YOUR FUCKED UP IDEOLOGICAL NONSENSE RIGHT NOW!! LEAVE ME ALONE!!"
Another horrible silence hung heavy, the shards they had hurled at each other still making them bleed.
Then, without warning, he felt Suguru sit besides him on the floor. He could smell Suguru's lavender shampoo he had used to have even back then, could feel Suguru's warmth get under his skin, could hear the way Suguru breathed when he was nervous and he could feel Suguru's cursed energy envrloping them both.
What the hell is he doing?
Suguru answered, as if reading his mind, "Take a quick nap. I'll keep guard."
" The fuck?"
"Just—sleep."
He had no words. What the hell? " Don't you have like something much better to do?"
Suguru's eye twitched in annoyance and despite himself, Satoru found himself laughing, only for his head to threaten him as a wince escaped, Suguru noticing it.
"Please, sleep Satoru. The world can afford a couple of hours to let you sleep."
The migraine was already making it hard to keep his eyes open, and now when he was offered his blanket of comfort he thought he might never have, his body finally started to give in, exhaustion deep in his bones. His head felt heavy like lead, his neck straining to keep supporting his head and he selfishly allowed it to fall in Suguru's shoulder beside him. He was too tired to notice Suguru tense up or how he had summoned numerous curses to keep guard.
He only knew how the blissful sleep engulfed him, ghost of a hug embracing and haunting him all at once.
