    Shane can feel the ears on the top of his head perk up at the word. His body starts moving, crawling on all fours towards the kitchen before he stops himself. What is he doing?

    The hesitation makes Ilya try again.

    “Shane, come.”

    It’s like the command has put a veil over Shane’s thoughts. He suddenly feels the urge to listen, to obey, no matter his conscious reluctance. He crawls towards the voice and finds himself sitting back on his heels in front of Ilya, staring up in a mixture of arousal and trepidation.

    “Good boy,” Ilya smiles down at him.
