It’s Vegan season

Summary:

Bugs and Daffy team up, to convince Elmer to become vegan

Notes:

TW : Veganism

Now if this isn’t an original idea, then I’m not sure what is an original idea anymore.

Anyways this author is vegan too, so this isn’t supposed to be a mockery of any sorts, it’s just a funny idea I came up with randomly.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Just like always, anybody walking around the forest will see different signs, indicating hunters which season it is. And just like always, a certain rabbit and duck are close by the area, minding their own business.

Mostly.

Today is not such a day.

For the duck has steered awake Bugs, much earlier than usual, to tell him his greatest idea that he came up with randomly. A plan, that mostly benefits himself more than the rabbit, but would entertain Bugs as well.

A plan, to convince Elmer Fudd , their greatest foe around, to become vegan.

Now , some would ask what they would accomplish with that. Bugs did too. Not out of curiosity though.

“Look if we succeed, he will never hunt us again! That guy doesn’t want to eat us anyway! So, if he already is vegetarian, then what is stopping that guy from becoming vegan?!”

Daffy shakes Bugs’s shoulders, while saying this right in front of the others face.

The rabbit puts a paw on Daffy’s face to push him away from his personal space, before wiping off the spit on his fur.

“Eh..I don’t know, Daff. Being vegan is a moral thing and less of a consumption thing, it just adds up to it. And say, even if we would name all arguments from A to Z , it would still be his decision in the end to follow this moral.”

After finishing his outlook, he pulls out a carrot to bite on something, to act disinterested. In reality, the bunny was intrigued by the idea.

Not because he believes that it would work, but because it’s a change of what they usually do. Sure, dressing up as each other or crossdressing can be very entertaining, but they did it so many times already.

And guilt tripping Elmer, is always fun.

So, after some back and forth, he eventually agrees.

That’s how they found themselves arguing which season it is, in front of the persistent hunter.

“It’s clearly duck season.”

Another rip off a sign, hanging on the tree they were standing around, can be heard and seen.

“It’s rabbit season!”

“Duck season.”

“Rabbit season!”

“Duck season.”

“No! It’s rabbit - , huh? Vegan season?”

The duck acts confused, reading out loud the sign that he wrote himself. Elmer, who has before , continuously pointed his gun between the two arguing toons, now looks confused at the new sign.

“Vegan season?”

Elmer repeats to himself confused. His finger wasn’t on the trigger anymore, as he looks around for some answers.

“That’s right! You should be ashamed of yourself! Hunting poor animals during vegan season. Have you no respect?!”

Daffy points a disappointing look towards the hunters direction.

“Isn’t vegan season in January?”

The human toon asks, generally blown off. He directs his attention, to the munching noise and comes across a bunny, leaning comfortably on the tree.

“Now doc, that’s rude. Vegan season isn’t just a trend or a holiday. It’s a lifestyle, that everybody should respect!”

Bugs watches as Elmer eagerly nods his head, to not come off as rude. The hunters face turns a deep red and smoke clouds where leaving his ears. Bugs couldn’t hold back a small satisfied smile. Before signalising Daffy to continue. It was his idea after all.

“Ohh you’re truly despicable! Do you know, how bad the life of every other animal is? Do you know, how hard it is to lay eggs as a male duck? Now, imagine how my sisters feel, being specifically breed to lay an abnormal amount of eggs for you to consume!”

The hunter hides behind his hat ashamed, as he mumbles apologises to them. Which makes the duck frown more.

“Oh no! You shouldn’t apologise aimlessly! You should put an effort to show that you are truly sorry! Try making amends by going vegan!”

The duck pushes him away forcefully. Watching as Elmer runs back to his home, before turning to Bugs with a grin, while wiggling his eyebrows in triumph.

“So, don’t you think that’s my best idea by far?”

“Aren’t all your ideas the best, in your opinion?”

The rabbit retort sarcastically, before handing the duck his prize. A new, fashionable purse , which was originally a gift for their anniversary.

Well, he now has to get something else instead.

He listens to Daffy’s rumbling about the design, designer and the materials used for the purse, while ushering both of them back to his rabbit hole. They still have to finish their breakfast after all.

Notes:

Now, if Elmer truly decides to expand his moral, is another thing that cannot be persuaded into. At least, Daffy wasn’t shoot during their encounter for once.
