Chapter Text
TIME: 11:24 A.M
Inside their shared bedroom, Goob and Bassie rest peacefully together in the center of the large bed, doing nothing but sleeping side by side, completely enveloped in the comforting stillness of the night.
Bloomington’s consciousness drifts first, pulling her into the familiar yet unsettling architecture of the Easter Floor. The Basket walks into the interior of the seasonal Easter room.
Bassie: (anxious) Oh... I don't want to stay here, I should leave...
Cocoa pops up suddenly from behind a decorated display table, beaming with bright, cheerful energy. The Chocolate Bunny walks toward the Basket with an energetic bounce. She opens her arms wide in greeting.
Cocoa: Oh! Hey Bassie! How’s it going!!
Bassie: It’s alright.
Cocoa: That's awesome news! Let me know if you need anything at all.
Bassie: (hostile) I’m all set, thanks.
Cocoa turns on her heel and hurries off toward the opposite side of the room, leaving Bassie standing alone amid the pastel decorations. Bloomington lets out a long, shaky sigh.
Just as the lingering awkwardness begins to fade, the heavy double doors of the room swing open. It is Goob, visiting the seasonal area for the very first time.
Craft walks into the center of the Easter room. He spots the Basket standing alone near the display shelf and immediately perks up.
Goob: (excited) Come here, let me give you a hug!
Bassie: (shocked) I-I will pass on that…
Goob: Aw, but would you like to have a little comfort?
Bassie: I-I do...? How so...
Goob: I notice you're looking a bit overwhelmed or on edge... or maybe just wound up?
The Basket stares at him, her breath hitching in her throat. She expects him to push, to mock her, or to brush her off like others might, but the Fluffy Craft simply gives an understanding nod, his paws resting comfortably at his sides.
Goob: That's totally okay though! Whenever you're ready, I'll be right here!
Goob turns around with a cheerful wave and bounces off to explore another corner of the room. Bassie stands rooted to the spot, she realizes with a jolt that despite wanting desperately to accept his warmth, her anxiety had forced her to push him away—and yet, Craft didn't mind at all.
Days blur together in the dreamscape as Bloomington begins noticing Craft everywhere she goes. Over time, the Fluffy Craft visits the Easter room with increasing frequency, and with every visit, the Basket witnesses the pure, unadulterated kindness that defines his entire character.
In the bright lobby, Bassie watches from behind a decorative pillar as Goob approaches Boxten, who is standing near the musical display board. Craft walks up to the Music Box with a wide, curious grin.
Goob: Boxten... Have you ever noticed that both our heads are squares?
Boxten: (startled) Huh? W-well I guess you're right!
Goob: Yeah! Mine doesn't have music in it like yours though.
Boxten: Right, well unless you imagine the music!
Goob: Oh yeah! I'm going to think about music right now!
Bloomington watches from afar, a soft, involuntary smile tugging at the corners of her mouth.
Later, near the resting benches, the Basket observes the Fluffy Craft chatting quietly with Astro.
Astro: Goob, I noticed you've had dreams of chasing your own tail...?
Goob: Yup!
Astro: (confused) But, you don't have one...?
Goob: Not in the dream I don't!
Novalite sighs softly, shaking his head with a quiet, amused resignation.
Astro: Right...
Further down the hall near the museum exhibits, Bassie spots Shelly, who is looking particularly stressed and overlooked while clutching a collection of ammonite shells. Goob trots right up to Shelly.
Shelly: Would you hug a dinosaur?
Goob: I would hug QUADRILLIONS of dinosaurs!
Shelly: Even the ones with sharp teeth?
Goob: I have sharp teeth too!
Fossilian bursts into bright, genuine laughter, the clouds of her insecurity instantly melting away.
Shelly: (amused) Oh right! I forgot haha!
Bloomington watches all of this unfold from the shadows of the hallway, her heart swelling with an emotion she has never felt before. It isn't just politeness; Craft’s kindness is absolute, unconditional, and completely radiant.
Squirm is curled up near a towering stack of reference books, clutching his segments while soft, pathetic whimpers escape his lips. The Bookworm curls into a tight ball.
Squirm: (crying softly) Snf... sniffle-
The Fluffy Craft materializes around the bookshelf corner, his face instantly dropping its usual goofiness into an expression of profound, tender empathy.
The Fluffy Craft walks over quickly, kneeling down beside Squirm and opening his arms wide.
Goob: Awww, someone sounds like they need a big hug!
Squirm: (tearful and hopeful) Y-yes please-.
Goob beams, wrapping his heavy, comforting arms around Squirm in an enormous, all-encompassing squeeze.
Goob: Don't you worry! My big sister says I give the best hugs! So you're in luck!!
The Worm leans into the embrace, his trembling instantly subsiding as a small, genuine smile breaks across his face.
Squirm: (relieved) M-me...? lucky...? ...Hehe... I feel better already.
As Craft pulls back from the hug, he suddenly pauses. Something catches his attention—a faint rustling sound echoing from behind the adjacent reading partition where Bassie has been standing, watching them.
The Fluffy Craft stops mid-motion, turning his head directly toward the Basket’s hidden standing spot. Before Craft’s eyes can lock onto hers, Bloomington spins around and bolts down the hallway.
Bassie: (panicked whisper) Oh no! He sees me! He's going to think I'm a total stalker!
Goob turns back toward the spot, blinking his eyes in confusion.
Goob: (puzzled) Huh... thought I saw someone...
Craft shrugs good-naturedly and turns back to finish checking on the Bookworm. Bloomington hides behind a stack of giant decorated eggs further down the hall, clutching her chest.
Bassie: (breathless) That was... way too close! Why am I acting like this around him?!
Later near the central Egg Painting Station, Bloomington stands near a wooden workbench covered in speckled eggs and jars of vibrant paint. Her hands tremble slightly as she holds a small paintbrush, her mind replaying the moment she ran away from the library.
Footsteps pad softly against the floorboards behind her. Bassie turns her head slowly. Goob stands right behind her.
Goob: (cheerful) Does someone need—
The Basket’s heart hammers against her ribs. Terrified that he’s going to offer another hug she’s too shy to accept, or worse, mention her running away, she panics and thrusts her hands outward, cutting him off right in the middle of his sentence.
Bassie: (blushing furiously and blurting out) I love you!
The Fluffy Craft freezes mid-stride. His arms drop slowly to his sides. The cheerful, easygoing expression on his face completely evaporates, replaced by an instant, staggering shock.
Goob: (stammering and blushing intensely) W-W-W-Woah! R-Really?! You... you mean it?!
Bassie stands frozen, her hands clamped over her mouth as the words finally settle into the quiet air between them. Her eyes well up with a mixture of terror and desperate hope.
Bassie: I... I didn't mean to shout it... But I do. Every time I watched you help everyone else... I realized how kind you are. And I was just too scared to admit it.
Goob: (flustered and earnest) Oh, wow... um! You know what's funny? Earlier today—well, in the dream earlier—I came across this little Bassie plush sitting all by itself on a shelf, and I tried to find its owner the whole entire day because I thought it looked just like you! But nobody claimed it... so I took it back to my room and slept right next to it in my bed all night because it reminded me of you! And—and look, I brought it for you!
Goob reaches behind his back, his arm extending smoothly to pull out a small, immaculate Bassie plush toy, holding it out toward her with both hands like a precious treasure.
Bassie: Y-You... you kept it close all night? ...No, you can keep it. I want you to have it.
Craft beams, clutching the plush gently against his chest before setting it carefully down on the edge of the workbench.
Craft walks closer, gently taking Bloomington’s hand in his paw.
Goob: Okay. We can share it.
Side by side, they walk over to a quiet, secluded wooden bench situated beneath a canopy of decorative spring blossoms.
The Fluffy Craft sits down on the bench, pulling the Basket gently down beside him. Their shoulders press together, and the Fluffy Craft intertwines his fingers securely with hers, holding hands tightly as the ambient pastel light washes over them.
Goob: Whenever I'm around you, I don't feel like I have to be super energetic or bouncy all the time. I just... I just want to make you smile, Bassie. You mean so much to me..
Bassie: (tender) I spent so long being afraid of everything... and trying to push everyone away. But you never gave up on me, Goob. Thank you for staying.
In the quiet, warm embrace of the dreamscape, Craft leans in closer, wrapping his arm securely around her waist to pull her into a warm, comfortable embrace. The atmosphere shifts entirely from playful nervousness to profound, unwavering earnestness.
The Fluffy Craft lifts his free hand to gently cup her cheek, looking deep into her eyes before leaning in the rest of the way.
In the quiet moment that follows, their lips meet, sharing a gentle, deeply affectionate kiss. The sweetness of the gesture settles completely between them, sealing their feelings in the quiet, peaceful expanse of the dream.
Parallel to Bassie's dream, Goob drifts through his own subconscious vision of the night.
The Fluffy Craft dreams of himself and the Basket sitting together on the edge of their bed in the warm, quiet evening air of the bedroom. The atmosphere is peaceful, stripped of all noise and chaos.
Goob: Bassie... can I tell you something really important?
Bassie: Of course, Goob. What is it?
The Fluffy Craft wraps a warm, comforting arm around her shoulders, pulling her into a secure embrace.
Goob: The evening air is so warm and quiet right now... but even if it was storming outside, being right here with you makes everything feel so peaceful. Your presence just... means everything to me. Every moment I get to spend with you is my favorite part of the day.
The Basket blushes deeply, her heart swelling with an overwhelming rush of love and validation.
Bassie: Goob... that's the sweetest thing anyone has ever said to me...
The atmosphere in the dream shifts completely from playful excitement to deep, profound earnestness.
Goob: I mean every single word, Bassie. I love you so much.
In the quiet, breathless moment that follows his confession, Craft leans in slowly.
They share a gentle, affectionate kiss in the warm evening air of the dream bedroom, letting the absolute sincerity of the moment settle perfectly between them.
Suddenly, the two dreams snap like stretched rubber bands.
Goob and Bassie suddenly and simultaneously snap awake in the really, really early morning hours. The dark room is still silent, lit only by the faint, pale sliver of moonlight filtering through the window blinds.
They blink open their eyes, gasping softly in surprise as they find themselves face-to-face, mere inches apart on the mattress.
Craft blinks his gaze. Bloomington stares back in sheer astonishment at how closely her dream mirrored the reality of waking up right beside him.
For a second, they just stare at each other in stunned silence. Then, the tension breaks entirely.
The Basket lets out a breathless, nervous giggle, and the Fluffy Craft bursts out into a bright, cheerful laugh that fills the quiet room with warmth.
Goob wraps his arms around Bassie, pulling her flush against his chest in the crisp early morning air. He tucks her head safely beneath his chin, burying his face in her head as they settle back down into the mattress.
Bassie smiles, wrapping her arms around his torso and closing her eyes as Goob gives her deep, cozy, sleepy cuddles in the quiet sanctuary of their bed.
