A quiet evening.

Summary:

Carl, Porkins, Alex and Spidroth told Robo they would be back but it's been three hours and they aren't.
Where could they be?

Work Text:

Robo sat with their feet up on the sofa with their laptop on their legs. They normally wouldn't take up this much space but Alex, Spidroth, Carl and Porkins said they would be back forty minutes ago and Robo can hold a grudge.

There was the sound of the door opening but only one set of footsteps.

“Hello Robo.” Dave said, dropping his bag on the floor and moving over to sit on the armchair that was next to the sofa.

“Good evening Dave. Have you seen the others?” Robo asked.

Dave paused slightly, “No, where would they be?”

“Carl said he was taking Porkins, Alex out for a pub quiz and Spidroth followed Alex along.” Robo explained, quickly saving their work.

“How long ago was that?” Dave asked.

“Three hours, fifteen minutes and some loose seconds.”

“Oh.”

The room went quiet for a few seconds.

“Have you tried calling them?”

“Multiple times, each one.” Robo said.

“They will be fine right? I mean they are four full grown adults. They can handle themselves.” Dave said, getting up and walking out of the lounge.

Robo sighed. They knew Dave and knew that he would spend the next hour waiting for them to come back before dragging them along with him to look for the missing four.

The next fifteen minutes was spent with their headphones in and doing research.

“I'm going to kill those idiots myself.” Dave stormed into the main room and grabbed his coat.

“What happened?” Robo asked, pausing their music.

“I just got a call from campus security. The four got drunk and decided to move all the signs for the public lectures tomorrow and apparently they got caught and then Alex threw up on a security guard.”

“Do you need me to come with you?” Robo asked.

Dave hesitated but said, “Yeah, I can't carry four drunk idiots on my own.”

Robo got up and put their coat on and left the apartment with Dave, locking the door behind them.

It was dark and cold with all the lampposts providing light but at the cost of a million tiny bugs flying near them.

“What is it, Robo?” Dave asked, “I know when you want to ask me something.”

Robo looked at their hands, “I have been told several times in my life but I can't find a more tactful way of saying what I'm about to ask.”

Robo paused for Dave to respond.

“Okay, go ahead, Robo, I won't be offended.”

Dave said.

Robo opened their mouth, “Why are you friends with the other four and me for that matter?”

The two walked in silence for a while as Dave thought of an answer.

“Well, I guess my parents knew Carl's parents so we became friends through that. I had quite a bad first meeting with Porkins but he was kind and light-hearted and I liked that about him. Spidroth was renting the same dorm and there was the whole dating incident which at the end brought us closer and Alex was a tag along with Spidroth and after they started dating, even more and finally you, Robo, was incredibly helpful with all of our tech problems and was a nice person to be around.”

Robo had a warm feeling in their chest despite the cold temperatures outside and a small smile on their face, “Thank you Dave.”

“But I'm still going to kill the idiots for this.”

"Fair.'

I'm back, still working on the 5+1 fic but ADHD bounces everywhere.
Any story stuff is likely coming out once every week rather than every four days
