Work Text:
Battat was breathlessly running towards the Green Room after failing to find Tenna anywhere in the TV Studio. He left Battat's sight for a minute and the whole studio was already starting getting covered in snow! Isn't that just lame, having the whole building fall down just because that cathode isn't here?
The low temperature was piercing the dies body even if inside the building already, but that didn't stop him at all. He sprinted to Mike's room as he was desperately trying to find someone. Not even taking a moment to catch his breath, Battat struggled a bit to get in the room before practically kicking the door open.
The first thing he noticed was the room feeling even colder than the outside, a chill running through Battat's body before shouting out his co-workers names.
He immediately shut off watching the scene.
On the floor they layed, Pluey and Jongler, holding onto eachother. Completely stone cold.
They got petrified while Battat was away.
Of course, Battat should've known that. Those two good-for-nothings losing their purpose the moment Tenna leaves and becoming statues, why of course! Battat doesn't even care, didn't even need them anyway, they were both just nuisances! He was the only one actually trying to do Mike's job right!
The die quietly chuckled to himself, though something tightened in his chest— probably just the tiredness of running of course, nothing else.
But as he kept chuckling, his voice strained further. Feeling weak to his knees, the die barely managed to take a few steps forward the statues before dropping to the floor, helplessly clinging onto them as tears flooded his face.
He broke down, his mind completely forgetting his previous mission only to get busy lashing out and Pluey and Jongler, and deep inside regretting he fact he could've treated them better while they were still awake, maybe.. that could've helped slow all of this down, at least a little? But maybe that's just his brain trying to convince him this could've have a different outcome.
Even if he refused to admit it, when spending time with those two rubberbrains, he actually felt like he had a place to belong to after feeling like an outcast from the rest. To have it taken away so suddenly..
His own body started drifting off, completely exhausted from all the physical work its been exposed to for the last few hours, before slowly falling asleep between the two statues, sobbing quietly.
As well as the rest of the studio, he too seemed to disappear. Who'd think he didn't want to leave that room in days?
