Summary
Lucifer's wife went into the Boötes Void on a research expedition 20 years ago. She did not return. Lucifer's daughter, Dr. Charlie Morningstar, has become a researcher too, and she's caught onto strange signals that sing a familiar song.
Charlie has organized a new research expedition, with the intent of chasing down that strange signal. The council assigns their least favorites to accompany her, and as the worst Morningstar son, Lucifer is among them. So is Charlie's lab partner, an acidic, intolerable man named Dr. Alastor Etoile.
He has a bad feeling about this signal, and whatever it is that awaits them in the dark, but he has no choice but to fly them out there. As for when they finally find whatever sings that haunting song... Lucifer fears the worst.
