Work Text:

Jon

“Captain’s log, October twenty-first, twenty-one fifty-six. At Phlox’s request I’ve granted T’Pol and Trip three days medical leave, despite knowing next to nothing about their reasons for needing it. Apparently it’s something specific to Vulcan physiology rather than an illness that might affect the crew, and T’Pol requires the assistance of her partner to come through it unscathed. It’s news to me that the two of them are partners, but apparently that’s been the case since the Expanse - with a break for a while after T’Pol married Koss. Which I guess finally explains why Trip asked for the transfer to Columbia. I wish he’d told me that at the time…”

T’Pol

It felt as though she were at the fire plains, having descended into the lava itself rather than viewing from a safe distance. The heat of pon farr was all-consuming - within and around her on all sides - the touch of Trip’s flesh against her own the only balm that provided any relief. He rested now, sipping a cool beverage and nibbling at the platter of meats, cheeses, dried and fresh fruits, and crackers with an assortment of dips. A Vulcan would not require such rest, yet she did not resent his need, given the extent of the pleasure they had shared - and would continue to share - as this time continued.

Trip

Trip wasn’t sure he’d ever get used to the idea of taking medical leave for a truly stupendous amount of sex, but he certainly wasn’t complaining about the opportunity to spend three entirely uninterrupted days with T’Pol. And sure, they needed to have an utterly absurd amount of sex to get her through pon farr - which was fun in its way because it gave him the chance to be more creative than she usually liked - but just getting to spend that much time together without anyone else around was completely unheard of. The more time he spent with her, the more time he wanted to spend with her. Forever, maybe?

Malcolm

Sighing heavily, Malcolm put the bookmark in place and closed the volume, setting it on the bedside table. He’d read the same page half a dozen times without absorbing any of the content, and that was no way to appreciate Austen. He’d stumbled upon a collection of her Juvenilia in a bookshop some years ago and determined to read it, but between one thing and another had never actually done so - until recently. Tonight though he couldn’t concentrate at all, concerned as he was by Trip having cancelled on their plans, and the news that he and T’Pol were on medical leave for three days. In short, he was worried.

Hoshi

It wasn’t often that Hoshi wished she knew fewer languages, but this was certainly a prime example of the scenario. Less sensitive hearing on the other hand, that she’d wished for many times. Having overheard sensitive information without any intention of eavesdropping, and the discomfort of every sound a starship made whether it was supposed to or not, sensitive hearing could be a particularly mixed blessing. In this instance she’d overheard T’Pol speaking Vulcan, and it was quite plainly a personal matter - one that was typically not discussed with those of other worlds, and one which apparently required a medical leave of absence for both T’Pol and Trip. Pon farr.

Travis

Nope, nope, nope. Not thinking about the fact that Trip went into T’Pol’s quarters carrying a bag. Not thinking about the fact that Trip and T’Pol had been a couple for years, believing the crew knew nothing. Not thinking about the fact that T’Pol and Trip had both been granted medical leave despite not seeming ill or injured. Not thinking about the fact that they were spending “medical leave” together in her quarters rather than in sickbay. Not thinking about the fact that Vulcans had to mate every seven years, according to that young Vulcan they’d met years ago who was a little prone to over-sharing. Not thinking at all.

Phlox

“Chief Medical Officer’s log, October twenty-second, twenty-one fifty-six. Commanders T’Pol and Tucker are progressing through their second of three days, and have continued to report in as requested. Though I was initially concerned regarding Commander Tucker’s ability to withstand the rigours of pon farr, it would seem that our chief engineer has been training for this eventuality for some time. As a result he is less weary than anticipated, and Commander T’Pol’s needs are being adequately met. It is my continued recommendation that both officers take tomorrow to rest and recuperate, and though I will of course examine them when the allotted time ends, I am confident of their success.”
