Summary
The Arctic, 1847. Dr. Elias Croft is the surgeon aboard HMS Erebus. He has been with the expedition for two years. He has watched the crew grow weaker, sicker, more desperate. The ships have been trapped in the ice for months. The food is running low. The men are dying. Elias does his best to save them, but he knows that he cannot save them all.
