Work Text:
Subaru Natsuki was a dead man.
At least he thought he was. His wonderful, perfect, beautiful wife Capella Emerada Lugunica Natsuki had just proposed something that took several loops just to get a hang of.
His wife wanted something simple. A nice, romantic, relaxing date between her and her husband. Simple enough, right? Well, with Capella, nothings ever that simple.
“Cappy, are you ready dear?” Subaru queried. It seems his perfect wife had other things to attend to for a moment.
“AAAGH! These meat bags can’t even put a dress on their Mistress!” Capella screeched from across the house.
Subaru pulled every muscle in his jaw to not frown. His Mistress has eyes everywhere, after all. “Dear, we have a date to get to, alright? Please don’t start anything.” Subaru started as he began his trek across to her. His gorgeous wife seemingly needed a bit of encouragement to not turn the Vollachian cabin they stashed themselves away in into a heaping pile of blood and guts.
“Suba-baby! Do not step one beautiful foot in here or so help this forgiving Lady I will drown you in rat meat! Your wife’s patience is very thin, and I will be in need of kisses before date night!” Capella boomed her voice.
“Well,” Subaru’s thought process began. “Better than looping.”
“Suba-baby?” The Mistress began.
“Yes dear?” He answered.
“You’re not taking us to some hussy hideout, right?” Capella begat. It seems he hadn’t done enough to quell her worries or possessiveness.
“Of course not. No hussy can take me away from you.” It was an obvious answer to Subaru. A happy wife means a happy life, after all.
Capella seemed satisfied with that answer, mostly at least. If the way she coddled onto him dragging herself out of her seat to lean atop him meant anything.
Capella Emerada Lugunica Natsuki has always had a very direct love language. A lethal dose of jealousy and trauma makes for one clingy wife. Subaru never complained, however. He, the upstanding person he is, had always been more than open to assisting his lovey wife in whatever way she ever needed, even whenever she let herself get sick just so he could care for her. The little things, he supposed.
The carriage shook upon the hole it stumbled onto. The ground dragons paid no mind, surely, but Capella certainly did.
“Keep the cart steady meat!” Capella yelled as her brow furrowed and her body shifted. A simple kiss on the crown was all she needed to calm herself. Love is the most primitive magic, truth be told.
“C’mon, Cappy. You can turn them into flies another time.” He cradled her head against his shoulder. Coeur Sirenum also had it’s use cases, yes, but the savior of Lust preferred to offset her sin with his virtue unless deemed necessary.
The scenery passed them by all the while. A beautiful sun resting at an equally pleasant 3:02 Fire time, an overall wondrous day, perfect for a celebration. To say that nothing could ruin today would be to say that one sir Subaru is, without a shadow of a doubt, demonically inspired.
“Suba-baby, your Mrs. Natsuki is cold!” Capella crawled closer to her hero in the bumps aftermath. The dragons blood she carries is constantly at a near freezing temperature due to the flame organs that proper dragons, not ground dragons have that heat their blood to absurd degrees that she is severely lacking, and as such her blood temperature drops to what would be a fatal level for any living thing, cold or warm blooded alike. Yes, she could transform her blood with ease, but where’s the fun in that? Quite obviously, her favorite way to warm up would be to sap it from her one and only.
The dragon carriage ran smoothly in it’s remainder. The bearer of Lust found herself completely quelled under the touch of the strongest yet weakest boy she’d ever laid her eyes on, and she feasted her eyes many a plenty. Furthermore, her consciousness eluded her before she could try to prevent it, and time was lost on her until…
“Dear, we’re here.”
Stunning. Everything in Subaru’s sight could only possibly be described as stunning. Atop one of the many mountains in the Vollachian Empire recommended by none other than the Blue Lightning himself lies a cabin resort with a breathtaking sunset, amplified by none other than his drop-dead perfect other half, with a complement of Subaru’s personally trained witch cult chefs ready to prepare them the ultimate fine dining. Capella would have them turned to mabeasts or meat if they weren’t, anyway. A perfect date, all things considered. Completely untainted by any hussies in sight.
“I want those meat mucks out of here now Subaru! No hoodie wearing hussy is gonna take you away from meeee~” Capella whined.
“Almost perfect.” Subaru internally corrected. “Alright, alright. Understood.” In accordance with his wife’s wishes, an array of Unseen Hands had a purpose to fulfill. One throwing and thrashing of meat later, now a perfect date fell into the sinful spouses hands.
“Never fear Cappy! Your novel Natsuki has already planned for this!” The forever diligent Unseen Hands returned, this time to retrieve the meals prepared beforehand by none other than the selfless bearer of greed. Many loops give many skills, but Natsuki Subaru is a simple cooker at heart. A somewhat simple meal, by about all standards. A decent size serving of well done ground dragon’s tail, the barbed tip specifically containing the juiciest flavoring with a side of steamed tatoes courtesy of a long past lesson with Ram, complemented by the absolutely necessary Mayonaise, and topped off with a bowl of perfectly ripe appas.
“Eh? Eh?” Subaru chirped in question. An unnecessary one at that, he knew full well Capella fawned over anything he laid his hands on.
What he didn’t know, however, was that his answer would come in the form of a kiss.
“AAAH! I love it Suba-babyyy~! This is perfect!” A direct love language shows itself yet again as an array of pecks and kisses assaulted the ever slothful Subaru all in the name of affection. “And mwah! And mwah! And kiss-the-Mister-Natsuki!” The love-struck Lust exclaimed. A pair of Unseen Hands were released in an attempt to restrain Subaru’s assailant, but his own hands were needed alongside for full efficacy.
The Unseen Hands have begun to lean towards more odd purposes for the shadow haired sinner. As one would expect, yes, a dozen individually controllable hands can serve a multitude of goals. With a wife of none other than Capella, a form of homeostasis must be maintained. After all, Capella could never complain about being cradled in the arms of Sloth 4 times over; a personal favorite of hers, in fact. Her other half’s true hands clasped in her own, with a fair share of diligent dallies doing whatever Lust wishes when she finds her touch craving unsatiated. Butterflies are as common as breathing for the head-over-heels half.
The myriad kisses were eventually broken by a firm palm against her forehead holding her in place, and an affectionate-yet-stern look from the evil eyed sinner. It seems her plans have been foiled!
“Dear, we’ve got a date to get to. Your Mr. Natsuki will give you all the love you want later, but Carina’s definitely waiting on us, okay? Heh, she’s probably out hussy hunting as we speak.”
At that moment, Carina had a strange ringing in her ears come upon her whilst gutsily posing atop a mabeast.
“Hahaha! Thanks for the idea Suba-baby~.” Lust said sultrily.
“Please don’t. As much as I’d love to see some mother daughter bonding time, I don’t need another complication coming for the Ordeal. Tell me you’re not going hussy hunting Cappy.” Subaru sternly stated.
“Hmph!” Capella poutily retorted.
“Say it, Cappy…” He lowered his tone.
“Fine! Me and Carina won’t go hussy hunting! Happy?”
“Very.” He asserted matter of factly, leaning in for a kiss on her forehead. “Now, my sweet sin, can we eat?”
“Hmmmmm, fine!” She hummed in response. “But only if I get yours.” She then continued.
“Ah.” Subaru realized. “She’s feeling that way today. Welp, I guess there’s no helping it.” “Alright, you win, I give Cappy. Your husband graciously surrenders his portion to you.” Subaru relented without hesitation. A plan he knew he would never need any looping for as it came as natural as breathing, is absolutely anything to make her happy.
“Thank you babe~.” She coyly purred. In return for steali-ahem! rightfully overtaking Subaru’s portion, she, the gracious wife she is, snaked him over her own portion. An equal trade, all things considered. Maybe. Okay mostly. Actually completely in her favor if you asked Capella, though she would never admit it otherwise.
A single bite later confirmed her decision in full.
A gush of flavor hit her recently transformed amplified taste buds, the unique compounds in the ground dragons blood owing to it’s sensational flavor. Subaru was likewise enjoying the meal, although his taste was a tad diluted due to the less potent taste buds.
Maybe, just maybe though, he can’t taste the own love he had poured into it.
With another stirring of the jaw, a gush of sheer happiness flooded Capella’s mind from every minute detail of this wonderful night her husband had put together just for the two of them. The perfect sunset, the abundant kisses and coddling on just the carriage ride alone ignoring those soon to come, the awe-inspiring cooking he displayed that she never truly identified where he learned. It’s fine though! He helped her work through her bountiful amount of trauma, so the least she could do is ignore where he learned to cook, right? It was all so perfect. He was just so…perfect.
And she would never let him go.
The dragon carriage back told a similar story to the first one of that afternoon. A collage of cuddling, kisses, and too-close encounters of Capella trying to transform the witch cult drivers into senseless puddles. A perfectly normal day within Vollachia for Subaru.
Similarly to that oh, so radiant sun displaying it’s form for Subaru, the moon, too decided to shine upon the young madman. A check of his personal pocket metia displayed a decently late 12:44 Water time. He would’ve tried to motion himself to better see the scenery under other circumstances, but there was nothing else he’d rather see than his other half splaying herself atop him like some kind of cat. “Huh. How long’s it been since I’ve seen a cat?” Subaru internally queried. An inquiry for another day, he supposed. There were much better things he had to get to at the current moment.
Capella’s heart fluttered as she felt her Slothful self begin stroking her hair. Perhaps fake-sleeping had more advantages than she originally gave credit…
“Subaru?”
“Hm?” Sloth hummed in response.
“You know how many dates we’ve been out on now, riiiiight~?” Capella began playing her game.
“Of course I do! Natsuki Subaru could never forget something like that.” Subaru half-yelled, charging the air with love. Snaking an arm around Capella’s waist, he continued further. “That, my dear, was none other than our 31st date. Actually… No! They’re a celebration of our love! Not just a date.” Pleasing his wife came as easy as blinking away a tear for the young archbishop.
“Hehe, yep!” Capella giggled in response. She herself had plans to take care of, such as pressing, pulling, and holding her husbands now trapped arm that she now had sole access to. “Every time you take me somewhere so pretty like that, mmh, I just fall in love you alllllll over again. It’s like it’s born for you every time I just think about you…” Capella squealed. Not a thing could change her feelings for this one man. Not a monstrous wrathful person that he would never be, nor a lustful demon. She knew he wasn’t that man, and she loved that feeling to death and more.
And of course she knew, he had kept that feeling through death and much, much more.
“Heh, I guess~ you could call every date a birthday, if you really want to. I know I wouldn’t mind a bit.” Subaru stated as he began slowly nuzzling into her neck. Hoo-boy, he was ready for a good night’s sleep.
“Ooh~, good idea, Suba-baby. Then that would make today our 31st birthday, hehee!” Capella giddily cried.
“Yeah, it sure would Cappy. Happy 31st birthday, or was that not very good?” Sneakily, a lone Unseen hand came up to cover her mouth in an attempt to calm her. The bed was calling and howling his name after all, and he cared about his sleep very deeply.
“Hm? Thht ws -orr thn good.” She responded in a muffled manner.
“I agree, dear. That birthday was more than good.” An amazing person such as Subaru could never lie to his wife, so he never shall. His mind began drifting away before he could truly stop himself, and he made out one final thing from his sin as his unseen hand lost it’s hold, and he couldn’t help but agree.
“Happy birthday Orth!” Capella finally exclaimed.
“Happy birthday Orth.” Subaru finally thought, as his pondering gave way to sleep, and another day with his one and only by his side.
Happy Birthday Orth!
