Chapter Text
all they wanted to do was go to sleep.
and now their chest feels as though it's being crushed. they're paralyzed. their room looks darker although it doesn't distract from the disarray and the mess on every surface.
all they wanted was to rest after a long day. art school, therapy session, trying to finish commissions and forgetting to feed themselves, wash themselves or even get up to use the bathroom.
texting their friend group they're too busy to go get dinner. "busy" being sitting in a chair on the verge of collapse for 5 hours staring at a screen with a digital pen in hand and not bothered enough to walk across the room to get their glasses so they could actually see what they were doing.
..and now they're stuck laying in bed
with a void black figure and 2 white circular eyes peering at them in their doorway.
they wish to sigh in annoyance and turn the other way but that's not exactly how paralysis works.
this has happened plenty of times, more often now and they can't ever shake the feeling of being watched even when they aren't in a state of half consciousness.
"what do you want." is all they think as they close their eyes tightly, they just want to sleep!
they hear what sounds like a whine coming from the figure.
"lonely"
well they're lonely too and they aren't complaining are they?
their finger twitches, they can somewhat move their hand.
they shut their eyes tighter and try to focus on moving.
grip the sheets, move your tail, turn your head, lift your leg.
the next time they open their eyes the figure is gone. the light has returned to their dull room.
their phone pangs with some sort of message.
after recollecting themselves they use their shaky arms to lift themselves from the bed.
they rub their eyes, exhaustion is evident in their groggy movements.
they flop their arms over to their bedside table and fumble with their phone until they open the messaging app.
Elliot
-sure you don't wanna come to dinner with us?
-it'll be fun promise
-i can do all the talking to the waiter for you
too kind.
they sigh, they are hungry..
maybe it'll be nice to ignore the lingering presence that won't leave them be.
Elliot
-i can do all the talking to the waiter for you
alright I'll come-
but if chance tries to joke with
me I'm taxidermying spade.-
