Chapter Text
It was good to get out of the city and away from people. They didn’t often get the chance.
Genkai’s shrine was all well and good, but Shizuru wanted to spend time with her wife away from her idiot brother. And away from Kazuma. As much as Shizuru loved her little brother, and as much as Yukina adored her twin, it was difficult to just spend time together when their brothers were always around.
So she had taken Yukina to a retreat in the middle of nowhere, arriving just in time to avoid the first snowstorm of winter.
Not that a snowstorm stopped Yukina – delicate, pretty little Yukina – from appreciating the snowy surrounds. She was a koorime after all.
Shizuru watched fondly, safe inside the ryokan, as her pretty wife giggled and twirled through the falling snow. Her feet left no footprints in the freshly-fallen snow, her pale skin only a few shades darker than the pure white of the snowflakes surrounding her. Her happiness was something to behold, and Shizuru fell more and more in love with her wife with every moment that passed.
And she would never, ever hesitate to tell her beloved that.
When Yukina stepped back inside, red eyes bright and a smile still on her face, Shizuru stepped in close and pressed a soft, mostly-chaste kiss to those smiling but cold lips, one hand gently cupping the back of her wife’s head.
“Mm, what was that for?” Yukina asked when they parted, and Shizuru gave a faint smile of her own at the mischievous glint in her wife’s eyes.
“Do I need a reason other than ‘I love you’?” she asked, and her smile broadened at the blush that formed on Yukina’s cheeks and across her nose. She pressed a light kiss to the tip of Yukina’s nose, making her beloved little wife giggle and swat at her half-heartedly.
“Flirt,” Yukina accused, and Shizuru laughed quietly.
“Only with you. Come to bed?”
“Of course.”
