“Yoonji is waiting for him.
"Hi." He grins, taking one earphone out. Yoonji rolls their eyes and uses the little controller to turn Jungkook's music down a bit, but that's it. 'Cause they understand just how much music means to him, how much it affects him, how it anchors him. They’ve never yelled at him for listening to it too loud, never asked him ridiculously rhetorical questions like ‘do you want to go deaf?’, because of course Jungkook doesn’t but he can’t cope without that barrier of base and harmony between himself and the world sometimes. Often. Because, if he’s being honest, Jungkook can’t really imagine being alive long enough to reach the age of failing hearing.“
That last line gave me pause (too relatable).

This is a really good fic. It's really consistent with they/them pronouns and questioning gender norms. I strongly recommend it.
