Three years after the Destroy ending, Commander Shepard and Garrus Vakarian are still standing—together, but forever changed by the war. As the galaxy rebuilds, Shepard is offered command of the SR3, leading a mission to uncover what remains of the Reapers. With the mass relays being reconstructed and old allies rallying once more, the future seems hopeful.
Before facing another mission pushing them to their limits, Garrus takes Shepard home to Palaven to meet his family. His father, Castis, a hardened veteran of the First Contact War, still harbors deep reservations about humans. His mother is recovering from illness, and his sister, Solana, carries secrets of her own. But their visit is violently interrupted when an old enemy from Garrus’s days as Archangel resurfaces, bringing destruction to their doorstep.
As they journey to Garrus’s home, they uncover a terrifying conspiracy—one that seeks to resurrect the Reapers through far more horrific means. The galaxy needs its hero once again. But this time, Shepard isn’t facing the darkness alone. Because now, there truly is no Shepard without Vakarian.
