Hey guys, I hope everyone is doing alright. This news is hitting all of us hard.
I want to start with saying; it is okay to grieve. We, as fans, may not have ever known him personally, but he had a big impact on all of us, and you have every right to grieve someone so amazing.
Technoblade, Alex, was a good person, who even in death was making jokes. He loved this fandom as much as we love him. It’s absolutely tragic that he is gone, and I think it still has yet to truly sink in for many people.
Techno is the reason I met the majority of my current friend group; he got me into the community, and because of that I found these amazing friends. It’s because of him that I’m even here, now, in the position to write this to all of you. I’m heartbroken that he is gone, but I love that I was able to be here for a few years.
Some people have been talking about whether or not to continue creating things with Techno in it. I think, in the end, it comes down to personal preference, how each person thinks they can best respect and honor Techno.
Overall? It is not inherently disrespectful to continue creating and engaging. Techno loved this community, and loved being Technoblade, and I don’t think he would have wanted us all to stop just because he isn’t here to continue creating with us. No one has to feel bad for continuing to engage. You all are entirely valid in whatever choice you make regarding your place, or lack thereof, in this fandom going forward.
To those who feel it is best for them to leave, and disengage; Farewell. I wish you well on your voyage. May you look back on all the time you spent here with fondness. Take care of yourselves, lovelies.
To those who are going to stay, to continue creating or consuming content from the fandom; Take a deep breath. Take a chance to process, and make sure to take care of yourself.
As for myself; I fully intend to continue writing and engaging. I intend to continue writing Techno in the same way I have been, and the same ways I had planned. Techno, as a character, was one of my favorites to write, if not my favorite, and I want to continue that.
For me, Technoblade is not only the creator, and the content he posted, but the character he built himself, and every version the fandom created for him and for each other. All of it is Technoblade’s legacy, and the way I feel for me, personally, to best honor him is to continue creating. Techno lives on with every plush in people’s rooms, with every jacket and shirt hung up in closets. He lives on with every build made in honor of him, with every piece of art made of him, and every work made with his character.
Technoblade lives on with every one of us.
Rest well, King. You made the world so much better for us. It was an honor to have been here.
