Chapter Text

Shane had started to become more open in the town after becoming friends with the local farmer, y/n who had helped him get back on his feet when it came to the alcohol poisoning he was risking and his relationship with Jas keeping afloat, it was around this time that Shane started to realise that he was thinking more and more about the farmer on the day to day which was strange in itself but when he started getting sweaty palms and a hot and flustered face around them that's when Shane started to really freak out, he liked y/n

Shane had only just finished work when he had looked up at the clouds and let his face be speckled with droplets of water, he looked back forward and saw the farmer running towards his grinning, naturally he started to push down his spreading grin "hey Shane! done with boring work??" shane laughed under his breath and pulled his hood up "yeah, but it's pissing it down" shane says grumbling slightly, y/n looked up at the sky before quickly looking back grinning wider "never noticed" he said grabbing his hand and running off to the saloon.

after making their way to the saloon and y/n having a chat with everyone while shane slouched in the corner admiring their willingness to talk to everyone from lewis to abigail with no issue, it was almost impossible for shane to talk to them without insulting or atleast getting a few pints down, but he didn't do that anymore, one or two, drink them slowly and actually enjoy the atmosphere, that's what y/n said and it really seemed to help, he wasn't even half way through the glass yet as y/n approached him happily, "hey shane, how was boring work?" as they say on the stool next to his own, "shit, how work always is" y/n laughed, "why don't u just work on the farms, mine or marnies" shane blinks a few just processing the offer "no no.. not yet anyways, maybe when jas is older" he said taking another sip, "why not now? she's young and it's important she knows ur here for her right now" the farmer said softly trying not to invade too much "i wanna make sure jas learns good values, im not sure i am a person who can show her those values" shane responded, staring at the bubbles fizzling on the top of his beer, emily poured this one, u can always tell, gus is horrible at pouring, the head is astounding. emily is much better for beers never ask her to cook though. "well, you can teach her that even when ur sad and don't know what to do u don't give up" the farmer said crossing his arms "so i mean offer always stands shaney shane" farmer said cheerily "my chickens like u more then me and their my chickens" farmer added pouting slightly "and i could teach u how to plant some pepper plants" he says as he leans towards shane in a playful but greatly attractive way, shane tends to get like this with them. usually just ends with shane gazing at them taking in their beautiful features, "thanks.." shane said quietly as he brought a beer to his lips after the second pint shane was feeling a buzz, that's one good thing about cutting back, tolerance is going back to shit. which means saloon is cheaper now, shane hoists himself off of the wall he drapes himself over waving goodbye to pams unconscious figure on the bar across the room, he and pam were friends. pam had told him he had more to live for once, to not drink himself down the drain, and that evening ended with pam drunkenly cradling shane's sobbing figure next to a river. she never spoke of it, but she always handed him meaningful glances and small squeezes of the shoulder on the odd occasion they got up from either of their spots. shane feels bad about how pam is, shane wants to help. but right now he can hardly help himself. that was when a sly arm hooked around his waist, holding him up. "c'mon shaney-boo" the farmer said grinning at him "let's get u home now, u absolute lightweight" he said squeezing shane's waist below him, anyone else calling him a lightweight would be a major insult but when it came to y/n that was the best thing shane could be, and that made him smile. shane attempted to make him way home, with absolutely no help from the sober farmer holding him up, shane would definitely think about it tomorrow but the warmth in his heart as y/n walks him down towards his home was nice, made everything seem fuzzier and comfy. as they stop outside his door, shane was about to fumble around in his pockets for his hidden keys y/n stopped him placing a hand on his chest to stop him, simultaneously setting off miniature fireworks under his skin. "hey shane, i- i have something for u" y/n said quietly looking at the flushed man swaying around the cool evening air "y..yeah? what's ya got?" shane said raising an eyebrow inquisitively "here" y/n handed a small blue grey white and silver bracelet with moon related charms on it "it's for u, i got it at the market, look" he pulls his sleeve up showing a yellow gold white and cream bracelet with sun charms on it "we match!" the farmer said grinning nervous but playful "its, it's matching? sun and moon? for us?" shane said quickly putting it on "for me?" the farmer nods enthusiastically "it reminded me of u" he said shrugging "anyways cya around" the farmer said running off to his farm "cya.." shane said waving his eyes glued to the sparkling bracelets. it's never coming off

Notes:

I hope u enjoyed it, Any criticism is welcomed as long as it is not rude :)
I know its alittle plain I just felt as though Shane’s life is quite ground hog day and thought maybe this first story could emulate how he is without a farmer pal
