Chapter Text
Peter couldn’t help himself as he caught sight of his nephew out the window. He moved onto the porch to watch Derek play with his children and husband. He was thankful to see the young man getting to be happy. He felt horrible for everything that had happened when he had first awoken from his coma, but he would do it all again if this were what he got to see every time.
His gaze shifted as he heard a car pull in. His smile spread as Chris got out of the car and walked up the steps and down the porch. Chris paused for a moment to take in the scene from the yard before continuing his path to Peter.
“Hello, Christopher,” He said as the other man took a seat next to him on the bench.
“Hello, my love. How long have you been out here?” Chris asked, wrapping an arm around his mate.
“Not long. I just wanted to take a moment. It always feels like time is passing so fast and I just…”
“Needed to take a moment? I understand that sentiment. Things have been so fast-paced the past few years, it’s nice to just sit and listen to the children laugh.”
Peter laid his head on Chris’ shoulder, watching as Derek threw Max into the air, making the little boy giggle and Stiles shake his head. Peter couldn’t help but leaned closer to his mate as he saw the look that Derek directed at his husband. He had never thought he would see his nephew this happy, but he had always hoped that he would.
“Do you want to go join them?” Chris asked, pressing a kiss into Peter’s carefully styled hair.
“Nah, I think that I am just going to let them be a family together. I am quite comfortable where I am, thank you.”
Chris chuckled, pressing another kiss into his hair.

Stiles woke from a dead sleep as his phone started to ring. He heard Derek grumble, tightening his arm around him as Stiles tried to escape his grasp. It didn’t take much prodding to get him to let go, just in time for him to answer his phone.
“‘Ello?” Stiles said, yawning.
“I’m freaking out. Kira is in labor and I am freaking out. What am I supposed to do?” Scott asked in hurried whispers.
Stiles sighed and shook his head. He climbed out of bed, making the wolf growl and pull the covers over his head as he walked out of the room.
“Are you still at the house?” He asked, making his way downstairs.
“Yeah. Mom said something about wanting the contractions to be closer together when I called her. She’s in so much pain, Stiles, I can’t even take all of it,” Scott whispered.
“All you can do is be there for her. I haven’t experienced a woman in labor and probably won’t until Erica wants to have a baby, but I know that you aren’t supposed to try and fix it. She’s about to push your child out of her body, the least you can do is hold her hand and make sure that she is going to be okay,” Stiles said, plopping himself down on the couch. “Do you have all the stuff in the car? I know that you were supposed to put in the car seat with Dad.”
“We did, yesterday. I have to take out Kira’s bag, but she is putting the last few things she wants in it between contractions.”
Stiles could tell that his best friend was starting to calm down as he spoke.
“Good. Do you need me to talk to you through this or do you think you can handle getting your wife to the hospital without getting pulled over on the way?”
Scott chuckled, letting Stiles know that he was actually calm now.
“I think I can manage it. If anything, Jordan is working tonight and he would probably escort us to the hospital, just to make sure that I don’t get us killed. Thank you for talking me down, I will let you know when they decide to make their appearance.”
“Anytime, brother. Now, I am going to crawl back into bed with my husband, because we have three little alarm clocks that won’t care that Uncle Scott called at three in the morning.”

Derek watched as Kira laid the little bundle in Stiles’ arms. He couldn’t help but go soft as he saw his husband look down at the sleeping baby, wonder written all over his face. Derek was distracted for a moment by Max wiggling in his arms, wanting to get to Stiles.
“Congratulations, you guys. She is gorgeous,” Stiles said, smiling over at Kira and Scott.
“Thank you, Stiles. I’m sorry for this one waking you up this morning,” Kira said, leaning into her husband as he sat on the edge of the hospital bed.
“No problem at all. Do you want to see the baby, little wolf?” Stiles asked, glancing down at his son.
“Peas? Unca Scott?” Max asked, looking over at Scott.
Scott stood and walked around the bed, lifting the toddler next to Kira. Kira smiled brightly as the little boy snuggled against her before looking at Stiles expectantly. Stiles shifted his hold on the newborn and carefully laid her in his arms, letting Kira show him how to hold her head.
“What do you think, Toby? You want to hold the baby too?” Derek asked, finally making his way into the room.
“Nuh-uh,” The little boy responded, laying his head on Derek’s shoulder.
“I thought not. Congratulations, Kira, she is beautiful. You too, Scott,” Derek said, smiling over at the couple as he wrapped his free arm around his husband.
“I mean, she did all the hard stuff. She was amazing,” Scott said, pressing a kiss to the side of Kira’s head.
Stiles, on the other hand, was distracted by seeing Max hold the baby. Of all his children, Max was the most careful. As Kira lifted her newborn from Max’s arms, Melissa came in with Luna attached to her.
“Ah, I thought you had misplaced a child. Do you want to meet the baby, Luna?” Kira asked, looking over at her favorite Hale.
“Is it a boy or a girl? I hope it’s a girl because there are too many boys and I want a little girl to play with,” Luna said, unlatching herself from Melissa’s leg and walking over to the bed.
Derek lifted Max back onto his hip, leaving space for Luna to climb onto the bed.
“Well, Luna Claudia Hale, I would like you to meet Celeste Melissa McCall,” Kira said, resting the baby in the little girl’s arms.
Stiles smiled, looking over at his husband. He had moved over to the other side of the bed, resting a hand on Scott’s shoulder. Derek smiled back, resting his head on top of Max’s as they watched Luna study the sleeping baby in her arms.
“Hello, Celeste. Don’t worry, we have a whole bunch of wolves to keep us safe, and your Mommy is the best kitsune ever. No one is ever gonna mess with us,” Luna whispered, running a finger down the newborn’s cheek.
Melissa took stock of the room and smiled. This was the future she always imagined for the boys that stood in the room. Her sons, regardless of blood, were finally happy and that was the only thing that mattered to her. With a kiss on both boys’ cheeks and a pat on Kira’s and Derek’s, she left the room to continue on her rounds.
