“Draco, I would like to remind you about the task that I have given you. Yes, there is also Lord Voldemort’s task of killing Dumbledore and fixing the vanishing cabinet but there is also your task of finding the Mirror of Erised and seeing whether it will be useful for the Death Eaters and the cause. Don’t fail me, Draco. I will be very disappointed in you if you fail this family.” Draco’s father, Lucius, wrote in his letter, stating everything down with no emotions, clearly, his imprisonment in Azkaban hadn’t changed his emotions and he was still as emotionless as always. Draco angrily screwed up the parchment, balling it up with a dark smirk on his face and pocketing it to set fire to later. He was disgusted with his father, disgusted that he had the audacity right now to remind Draco of the tasks that had been forced upon him. He was always struggling enough, what with his godfather, Snape, breathing down his neck at every opportunity. And now his father was too.
Breakfast had been ruined as Draco stormed out of the Great Hall and back towards the dungeons, not bothering with lessons today. He wasn’t feeling particularly up to them. His hands were clenched into fists by his side as he walked through the corridors, ignoring the looks of disgust from the younger years. But back in the safety of his dorm, he was free from the stares and the mutters of Hogwarts students.
The day passed by slowly, Draco spent the majority of his time wallowing within his dorm before sneaking into the Room of Requirement to work on one of his tasks. Peace. He sighed heavily as he entered the room, lapping up the silence that fell around him and the comfort he had found within these walls during the past few months. He silently decided to himself to try and find the Mirror of Erised, having been too invested in trying to fix the cabinet but so far had had no fucking luck with it.
Draco walked deeper into the room, having explored most of the room except this one area where he gathered the mirror would be waiting for him. He wasn’t sure what his deepest, most desperate desires in his heart were but Draco was looking forward to finding out, as long as it wasn’t bushy-haired with a swotty voice.
The cluttered room surrounded him, the feeling felt nice instead of giving him the anxiety he first felt when he had entered the Room of Requirement. Draco stared up at the chairs that were piled up on top of each other and the other items that had been piled on top of other things. One accidental nudge and that was going to be toppling down on top of Draco. He continued walking deeper, the large doors disappearing from sight as he made his way deeper and deeper into the room. Draco sighed, staring at the walls. With a small Lumos cast with his wand, he continued navigating his way around, hoping to struggle to find the mirror so that he could spend the rest of his day and evening in here.
“Granger?” Draco’s voice wavered, ringing out into the silence as he stared in disbelief at the curly-haired woman, who seemed to be staring back at Draco, no emotions written on her face though. He held his wand out protectively in front of his chest, pointing it at the Gryffindor. “I ought to turn you into the Professors, Granger. The brightest witch of our age and you’ve been caught skipping classes.” Draco continued, his voice louder as he spoke out into the room, a slight lilt of anxiety pushed through. He had thought he was alone and stupidly hadn’t checked. Maybe Granger was now snooping for Scar Head since the raven-haired boy had become obvious with his watching. He should have checked whether the coast was clear or not.
Upon approaching closer towards where Granger was, Draco realised that Hermione hadn’t moved an inch but suddenly he walked faster and came face to face with his own reflection. Then it dawned on him, finally. He had found it. Draco had finally found the Mirror of Erised. Draco had only gone and found the object, fuck he was so proud of himself.
Instead of celebrating himself though, he just shrugged himself off and Draco just stared deeper into the mirror, hoping that it would clear the curly-haired woman away from the reflection and his true desire would start to appear. Nothing changed. The Gryffindor, instead, just moved closer towards Draco’s body. His breath stuttered as he watched the mirror reflection, his slate grey eyes following Granger’s movement like a hawk, narrowing his eyes at the mirror. Reflection Hermione entered the sight from the side, snuggling herself deep into Draco’s side as she wrapped her arm around his waist and hugged him closer to her. Draco’s eyes remained glued to the sight, his breath hitched as he watched her face move closer to his. Hermione nuzzled her nose against his face before moving down and nuzzling his neck. Her other hand reached up and touched his cheek, grazing him lightly, as she pressed her lips and planted kisses against his neck.
Draco knew that he should move away and leave, get started on trying to fix the cabinet again but he couldn’t take his eyes off Hermione. Her figure in the mirror was still kissing his neck, and he could see hickeys starting to appear as the woman claimed him. His eyes wouldn't move off Hermione and the way she was attacking his neck and cheek. He couldn’t help it when his mind darkened and turned towards imaging how soft those lips were and how he dreamed of finding out. He planned on finding how soft they were.
As he moved away from the mirror, he heard a female voice clearing their throat and he slowly turned, becoming face to face with the very person he had just seen in the mirror.
