Chapter Text
+ I
“You’re such an idiot, I can’t believe you just did what you did. What if the lightsaber didn’t work? What if you couldn’t handle it as you did? HOW ON THE GALAXY YOU KNOW TO HANDLE A KRIFFING LIGHTSABER IN THE FIRST PLACE?!”
You have been rambling like this for a while now since you made him return to get medical attention. He, being a stubborn asshole like every clone you have ever known, refused to go to the med bay so you had to take on the doctor duties.
Luckily, his plastoid armor made its job and protected him pretty well from the blaster bolts, but he still needed to get bathed in bacta and rest for a while.
While you rambled, he enjoyed the whole thing more than you would have liked. He kept quiet, only interrupting to chuckle and smile amused at your worry.
“Answer me!”, you say, looking at him while you put another bacta patch over a very awful looking bruise.
“What do you want me to tell you?”
“Why the fuck you did do what you do?”
“Because you’re my General”, well that kind of hurt to be honest.
But you shouldn’t have expected less. Stone and you are just friends.
“And my friend”.
Way to get into the friend zone.
“And it was the correct thing to do. You are family now, and family keeps each other safe”.
Your heart melts at that, even if your stupid self was expecting a romantic confession or something as cliché.
You mean, you tried to convince yourself in the past few months that Stone and you were only friends and that nothing else was possible between the two of you, but it was all useless.
It wasn’t until you saw him in front of you getting pointed by a blaster and using your lightsaber that you realized that friendship was light years away from what you actually felt for him.
And you very much know that it was going to hurt and that it breaks every rule they have ever taught you as a Jedi, but there wasn’t something you could do.
And if it was, you weren’t going to fight it.
You were tired of fighting and hiding your feelings and emotions.
If he didn’t feel the same, well, pain, but if he did, congrats buddy, you just mess with the worse person you could.
Okay, that wasn’t that funny.
There is silence after his explanation, and you kept your hands busy putting another bacta patch over another blaster wound.
“Don’t you ever do that again”, you say when you finish, looking straight at his eyes.
“I’ll do it as many times as I need to”.
“No”, you say, sounding like you’re scolding a child. “You’re not going to risk your life for me just because you have a stupid inferiority complex”.
“I don’t have an inferiority complex”.
“You do, every damn clone has, and it's annoying. You are people, and I don’t care what those buffoons in the Senate say”.
He chuckles but you ignore him while you try to find another bacta patch to cover the final blaster wound.
He stays quiet and still while you put it over his chest, close to his heart.
“Thanks to the Force that you idiot at least had your entire armor on”, you say, finishing your doctor duties.
“I would get to the bottom of this”, he comments.
“I’m sure Fox will”.
Stone opens his mouth to talk but you interrupt.
“No, you aren’t going to work until you take enough rest”.
“But –“
“That’s an order, Commander”.
He blinks at you for a few seconds before he puts on his usual stoney face.
“Yes, sir”.
“Now, I’ll get these things back to their place and when I return, I want to see you in bed”.
“Yes sir”.
And then you start putting everything in the medpack again to close it and put it in the refresher when you suddenly felt arms wrapping around you.
You almost kriffing elbowed him if it wasn’t because you didn’t want to hurt him more than he was.
“What are you –?”
“You’re such a hypocrite”.
“Excuse me?”
“You’re always complaining about people that don’t take care of themselves when you are the first person who is always getting wounded and repressing their emotions, Bandages”.
“I don’t –“
“Don’t even try to deny it”, he interrupts, putting his face in your neck and making you lose brain cells. “Thank you for taking care of me, tonight, but you need to understand that what I did, I’ll do it always if I have to”.
You gulp, putting your hands over the arms that were around you.
“Why?”, your tone is not as before, and you know it and you think that he does too.
Stone knows you too well after all.
He loses his grip and gently turns you around.
“Because you’re everything, di’kut”, he answers, like he is offended.
You stare at him, blinking.
“I don’t under –“, Stone rolls his eyes before he suddenly closes the distance between the two of you.
And then it drowns on you:
He is kissing you.
Stone is kissing you.
STONE IS KISSING YOU.
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
You break the kiss as soon as it starts, and you step back panicking.
Stone stares at you in silence for a few seconds, until his brown eyes fall.
“I’m sorry, I thought – I should have asked”.
“What did you think? That I liked you more than a friend?”
Stone blushes and then scratches the back of his bald head. He looks embarrassed.
“I – will, yes. I mean – “, he exhales. “I’m sorry if I misunderstood everything. I – hope we can still be friends. You’re very important to me, not just because you’re my General, you’re also a…friend”.
He looks you in the eye for a second before he looks away immediately.
There is a tense uncomfortable silence for a few moments.
“What made you think that I like you more than a friend?”
“You are terrible at hiding things. I mean, I’m not the one with the Force and all that, but I know you enough. And also – well”, he gets redder, “the boys (like all the Guard) think you do too”.
You sigh, putting a hand on your forehead like you do when you are having a headache.
You were that terribly obvious?
God, if clones knew then the entire Temple must know already.
You want to kill yourself.
“Hey, it's nothing to be ashamed of. I like you too”.
You look at him like you’re actually surprised. It was obvious you think, otherwise, he wouldn’t have kissed you a few moments ago.
“I’m telling the truth”, and you know he is. You can sense it with every fiber of his being.
He does like you, as much as you like him, and to be honest, a tiny part of yourself always knew but you always shook your head no to it because it sounded too dangerous and too good to be true.
Yet here he was, in flesh and bone.
“I know you’re telling the truth is just that…I’m not supposed to feel like I do for you. They can expel me from the Order, and they can decommission you and I would never want something like that for you Stone. It's not fair”.
“Bandages”, he calls, approaching you and taking your hands in his like he always does when he is to console you. “You’re worth the risk. And I hope you think I am too”.
And you almost cry when you look at him because of course he is worth the risk. You’ll go to the other fucking side of the universe for him if you have to.
“What kind of shit is that Stone, of course, you are worth the risk. You are everything, you have been here for every shitty situation, you have never left me alone when I’m most likely to lose myself”.
“Then stop overthinking it”.
“It’s easier said than done. I’m worried they can do something to you”.
“We are going to be okay”, he says, squeezing your hands. “As long as we are together”.
You sigh, and without looking at him, you hug him, and he returns the hug, not without groaning because of his injuries.
“Shit sorry”.
“It's okay”.
“It's not, you need to rest. Let me take care of you for once”, and you separate from him, and he smiles.
“Okay, but just for once”.
And you drag him to the cot, and you tuck him in and after putting the medpack back into the refresher, you lay down next to him, holding his hand as he has done so many times before.
“Thanks”, he whispers, booping your nose just as you don’t like.
“Go to sleep before I regret it all”, he chuckles before he settles his bald head under your chin.
When you wake up in the morning, you’re glad the best person in your life, feels the same thing you feel for him.
