Chapter Text
Black clouds were gathering while they sleeping, blocked out the sun and the raindrops began to fall upon their cheeks.
Mingi woke up first, still drowsy but enough for him to know the storm was coming. He pressed the lock screen to check the time, gasping when found them slept for more than three hours. Summer weather before rain was just perfect for a snap. Even in the outside it could not get too hot, as the breeze dried up the sweat in no time.
But now the weather was not so pleasant.
He patted Yunho on the shoulder and woke him tenderly.
“Yunho-ah, wake up, it starts to rain.”
Yunho let out a groan and opened his eyes. Once he saw those dark clouds were massed on the horizon, he flinched and grumbled.
“Shit, it's coming early than I thought.”
They quickly moved all the equipment under the rainfly of Yunho's tent.
Yunho looked up at the sky and asked, “Mingi……It sounds weird but, would you stay at mine tonight? I mean, you're not gonna survive with your tent seriously, and there's still plenty of room for two people if that's what you concern.”
Mingi's mind went blank and froze in place. He was indeed prepared that he could not stay in the tent at night. The worst case was to spent a night in his car. He didn't even have a plan b, but all of a sudden it appeared.
Yunho held his breath, waiting for the answer. Not like his always flirtatious words before, he seemed really nervous for the first time.
Mingi looked into his eyes, and he could tell the pure sincerity. He nodded slightly, tried hard not to show his excitement. Well, you can't blame him for expecting something. Two grown-up man in one tent, especially since Yunho had obvious interest in him too if he didn't read it wrong.
Yunho breathed a sigh of relief and moved to pack up Mingi's tent.
Fortunately, the rain hadn't gotten any heavier yet. They were still able to grill streaky pork, cook ramyeon, and enjoyed taking a sip of soju in a light rain. Yunho took a freshly cut piece of meat straight to his mouth, made sure it's cooked through then kept filling Mingi's bowl with bulgogi.
They drank as they ate, laughed as they talked. A few more minutes passed and overeating led to weariness, they sat in a daze for a period of time until a thunder in the air gave them a fright.
Yunho decided to call it a night and Mingi helped him put the rain cover over the things that out of tent.
A bolt of blinding flash crossed the sky and deafening thunder exploded. Mingi gave a cry of horror, crawled into the tent immediately. Yunho couldn't hide his smile while tugging him in bed. He soon followed, wrapped a blanket over them before comforting a frightened Mingi.
“Sleep, princess, tomorrow we will have a clean up to do.”
Princess huh. But he kinda loved being call like that. “Thanks for today, Yunho. I haven't been this happy for a long time.” Mingi looked at him fondly, “And thanks for saving my life, I mean I didn't have to sleep in my small car because of the storm.”
“I'm more than happy to meet you today, or I would be so lonely in this shitty situation.” Yunho chuckled, pulled out a hand from the covers and pushed a wisp of Mingi's hair to the side.
God, Mingi wanted to catch his hand and kissed it, but the thunder now crashed again. Yunho wastes no time leaning closer and held him tightly.
Mingi nuzzled his face in Yunho's chest, eager for the warmth. His heart was beating fast, and the other's not doing better.
“Good night, Mingi.” Yunho was still hugging him and didn't move a bit, blocked him from the horrible sounds outside.
“Good night, Yunho.” Mingi hummed in a low voice, all he cared about was to enjoy this.
Outside the tent, heavy rain was still falling, and the stream swept away the leaves and branches that had fallen on the surface. But inside, it was a totally different story.
They woke up early in the morning, the weather after the rain was a little sultry, or just they cuddled all night and made them sweaty. They had changed the position in the night, with Yunho's arm around Mingi's waist, and Mingi holding Yunho on shoulder, legs tangled together, twisted in bedsheets.
Mingi blinked his eyes open, it took him a while to realize he was in Yunho's tent and slept with him.(literal meaning) It wasn't long before Yunho yawned and tauted Mingi closer, didn't seem to be fully awake yet. Mingi didn't know whether to push him away and pretend he didn't want this or just let it be.
“Morning~Did you sleep well?” Yunho's morning voice was fascinating and made Mingi dizzy. He still didn't loose his embrace.
“Yeah, I think it's even more peaceful than I slept at home.” Mingi gently pulled himself out of his arms and sat up for a stretch.
They stepped out of the tent and went to a public bath to wash briefly. Yunho dried his hair with a towel like a little fluffy animal grooming and Mingi found it endearing. They cooked a simple breakfast, just coffee and bread with butter, then prepared for leaving. One went to clean up the dishes and kitchenware while the other packed the equipment into the trunk.
“So…It's time to say goodbye?” Yunho pouted a little, sounded not willing.
“We could have another trip you know, we promised to go camping for a next time right?”
“But I don't just want to be your camp buddy. I want to hang out with you more, like, in or off campus. Could I…?”
“Oh! That's definitely a yes! We've already get along so well in one day and I think we're gonna be really good friends…”
“Could I ask you out for a date?”
Mingi was suddenly speechless, then giggled like a teenage girl. The boy in front of him blushed like hell, and he thought the contrast was so charming. Yunho was never shy of using words, calling out nicknames and unabashedly praising him. But when it turned to make a serious move in a relationship, he became earnest.
“I would love to. And I like your bluntness.” Mingi leaned in, gave him a kiss on the cheek. “Text me baby boy, summer vacation isn't over yet.” Then ran to his car without looking back.
Yunho stood there, touching the spot where he had been kissed. Mingi's back beneath the sun, and he wished he could write his name on it.
August would soon slip away, but their story line would continue to be written.
Episode
“YAH!!!! SONG MINGI!!!!!!” Mingi dialed Yeosang's number and got scolded immediately. Last night Yeosang sent him a few dozen of messages and he had ten missed calls from him. He put his phone on silent during the nap yesterday and forgot to cancel it.
“I THOUGHT YOU WERE DEAD YOU ASSHOLE!”
“CALM DOWN! Stop yelling at me! I'm sorry ok?” Mingi frowned and sighed, “I met another guy and spent a night in his super strong tent.”
“You were getting laid while I was worried as fuck?!”
“What…! We were just SLEEPING! Jesus!” Mingi paused, “Well, he did ask me out on a date later.”
“Beg me for the next trip! Only if you still need me!” Yeosang ended the call angrily and now Mingi had a friend to please.
