Chapter Text
He remembers laying down on the ground, surrounded by blue illuminating candles. But then he felt dizzy and his head felt fuzzy, now he feels like water. He can barely see, he’s hiding looking past the corner of a hall. It looked like the inside of Stolas’s mansion but different, warmer . Much more inviting than the cold palace of judgment it usually was. The biggest difference he can see is that this version of himself is missing his white blotches on his face and arms. From when he’d gotten hurt before.
He can see Octavia, her clothes are a bit different. She’s wearing black, but also more color and no beanie. Then she’s chased by Blitz himself, and he can feel himself move closer towards the two seemingly chasing something. His clothes are different, cleaner, more comfortable.
He can hear Octavia and his physical self, calling to something, something that sounded small and fast. But as he gets closer he can see himself turn to look at him, he quickly retreats around the corner again. Watching as his present self keeps looking out, waiting to hear or see something.
“No you don’t!” He hears the teen roar, quickly scooping down to snatch what nearly ran past Blitz as he was distracted. Looking closely, Octavia looked to be holding an imp. Not completely an imp however, he had the red skin, but lacked horns, had red eyes, and black hair. “Yo- dad, you good?”
“Huh?” Blitz looks at her, holding the younger one struggling against her.
“Yeah. I’m fine, will you get him changed?”
“Sure.”
With that Octavia takes the youngest upstairs, hearing her footsteps fade along with the incomprehensible babble from the kid. Alone Blitz can feel the atmosphere change, and apparently so does his other self. Walking out towards the kitchen, Blitz can feel himself more easily followed without the presence of anyone else around.
Every moment he can feel himself get closer watching his other self, the lights start to flicker and what feels like wind begin to blow through the manor. His alternate self can feel the change, and begins to rush himself to the dining area. Nausea and dizziness follow him, as he can hear glass scratching, the light fixtures shaking, with not a single window open.
He crouched, balancing himself at the table, trying not to throw up. Body feeling as if he’s out on sea, hearing too much at once, body overstimulated. In composing himself his shallow breaths turned even, looking up at the window his breathing stills. He can see himself, both of the imps are facing each other.
Then his alternate self, pulls himself back and screams. Head pounding, all the small creaking and scratching noises around him became unbearably loud. All the candles blown out, the gusting wind cutting lights out and whatever remained to flare. With the harsh blinding lights, his muscles and joints spasm, gritting his teeth at the pain.
However as quickly as the episode started, it ends and his mind feels quiet again. Blitz’s vision is clearer than before, and the rampage that had gone on around him stopped. The lights dimmed before all coming back to life once again, as if nothing was wrong.
‘Fucking Satan, that’s what happens?’ Blitz thinks to himself, letting himself breath. He feels unfamiliar with his own body, he feels somewhat taller. Perhaps this version of himself had better posture.
“Dad?” He can hear Octavia once again, him still looking out at the window which oversaw the garden.
Was she referring to him?
Unsure he doesn't say anything back, until he can feel her presence behind him. “Dad? You alright? I thought I heard you scream” She asks concerned, looking at him.
“Yeah…I just tripped.”
“Oh, haha. Okay…well look what I chose to put him in.” She smiles, taking her phone out to record the small kid walking around towards the two.
If it isn't the most Blitz thing. The kid is wearing a bronze colored horse onesie, and even he can admit looks extremely cute on him. Seeing the two he rushes towards the two to Blitz’s legs, looking up at him. Hoodie of the onesie barely letting him peak out, the ears lopsided.
He awkwardly doesn't know what to do with the kid, or where to put his hands. Perplexed, he takes the kids hands into his, helping him walk. He could definitely stand and run, but his balance was shaky and he seemed to need support. Blitz somewhat wishes he could have had this with Loona, but doing this now in his other self .He can't help but feel warm inside, bashfully grinning at the kid cooing at him.
“Dad is going to be mad at me for doing this, but grandma is going to love it.”
“Grandma?” He questions, hearing a door open and multiple footsteps. A mumbled conversation grows closer, as Octavia walks towards it. Coming towards the dining area he sees Loona, Stolas, and his mom.
His mom shouldn’t be here.
Why was she here?
She was sick and they couldn’t afford to help her.
“Blitzo! Is that my grandbaby!?” She exclaims, smiling at the two imps in front of her.
“We’re your grand babies too.” Loona speaks up, pouting, watching as Tilla’s attention is fully on the baby.
“My grandchild yes but you’re no baby anymore Loonie.”
She looks so happy, and her voice still sounds tired from when she was sick. But she looks healthier, small bags under her eyes, and he can see a white streak of hair growing. But she continues to wear her purple dress, and red skull collar that she had given to him when she died back home.
He still hasn’t said anything to her.
But regardless she walks over and gives him and his kid a hug. Before scooping the baby imp up, lifting him high above them causing him to cry out laughing.
“Who put him in this?!” Stolas looks between Blitz and Octavia, looking for the perpetrator.
“He wanted to wear it.” Octavia shrugs smugly at her dad.
“He was supposed to wear his new little suit!”
“Aww, he looks so cute in this though Stolas.” Blitz’s mom says, cuddling with the baby in the horse onesie.
“Well, he does .”
“You have to let me watch over him again, soon. I can even take the girls shopping. Barbie can go too.”
“Barbie?” Blitz speaks up, watching the interaction between the two.
“Yeah, oh-! Barbie and Cash had to finish some stuff up back at the circus. So they’ll be showing up late.” His mom excuses the two, turning back to her conversation with Stolas.
This was…
What was this?
He just watched as Stolas, his unofficial boyfriend since they haven’t really said what they wanted to be quiet yet. Talking to his not dead mom, who was holding his apparently owl demon imp son. Loona who seemed happy , sitting at the dining table talking to Octavia who actually seemed to not hate life.
Now his not dead but alive mom talking about his dad and sister coming over?
His dad was a deadbeat, who didn’t care about anyone.
He hadn’t seen his sister or spoken to her in years.
But apparently, here. His alternate self just had a way healthier, stable home life from the get go. Not only that but Stolas and him were secure in their relationship enough, to where Stolas still had Octavia. Who didn’t hate either of them, and actually called him , dad. They still even adopted Loona from the hound orphanage, must have been when she was younger because she seemed so comfortable and content.
They not only had their own kids from their own lives, that they could have had without each other. But their own together, which Blitz is sure that Stolas had to lay.
He’s skimmed enough bird books and had personal experience with Stolas’s birdpuss to know it’s possible. But the fact that it is , possible. A kid that they seemed to have really wanted, one that everyone loves too. One that maybe this hell accepts, if a higher class demon gets with an imp.
This hell was apparently less of a hell than his own.
“Blitz?” Stolas is looking at him concerned, he hadn’t noticed his mom left to sit with the girls at the table. “Are you alright?”
“Oh. Yeah-“
“He fell and screamed.” Octavia shouts, leaning back looking at the two.
“What?! Did you hit your head? Are you in pain?” The Price asks, grabbing his face, squishing his cheeks. That was the Stolas he knew, overly convened and touchy.
It’s nice.
“I’m fine Stolas.”
“Blitz has had bigger falls when he performed, he’ll be fine.” His mom calls out.
“Can we eat now?” Loona asks, looking at the two.
“Well we might as well if Cash and Barbie Wire are going to be late…” Stolas steps back from Blitz, hands glowing he waves from the kitchen to the dining room. Plates, dishes, and silverware follow. Levitating, with blue auras around sliding onto the dining table. “Via, can you get the drinks?”
“Dad, you know I’m bad at it.”
“It’s just like practice, it’ll be fine.”
“You want to be my favorite grandkid?” Tilla teases, the owl only groaning at her.
Getting up from her seat, attempting her best to copy her dad. Hands moving all the same, but as the glasses and drinks moved their way into the room. It was shaky and unbalanced, moving closer and closer to the ground.
“That’s okay! You’re doing good!” Stolas encourages, but on edge she seems to have lost her focus and accidentally opened a portal. Sucking the items through it, before the portal itself caved in on itself disappearing.
“What the fuck was that?” Blitz asked, all of them watching the same spot the drinks disappeared from.
“I- think it was a black hole…” Octavia speaks up, still frozen from the event.
“That was so good! We have to work on control and what you actually mean to do- but Via a black hole is a big accomplishment!” The owl claps, jumping for her. Wine bottles, and glasses appear from his praise, floating themselves onto the table. “That I meant to do, because you sent the other through space. But I am very proud.”
Blitz wants to bet that in another world Stolas was a magician or performer, because he’s too theatrical to not be.
The rest of the night goes on smoothly.
Too smooth, it’s all too happy and good to be real. Blitz has to keep reminding himself it’s not. He’s constantly just quiet, watching everyone eat and interact. His mom helps Stolas feed the baby, as she makes fun of him. Telling old stories, Loona and Octavia laughing at him. Barbie and his dad even showed up, he kept forgetting this was his world. Because if it was they wouldn’t have shown up, she’d probably be with someone and who knows what his dad would be up to.
But they show up and look fine, healthy. Especially Barbie considering all the shit and rehab she went through after everything. But they give hugs to everyone and sit down to join them eating. He doesn’t realize he’s focusing in and out of conversations, until he’s laughing at something his dad said.
He hated his dad.
But his dad was always able to make people laugh, he hates to admit it. But the whole table is laughing at Cash, him exaggerating the story he tells with his hands. Loona even spits wine out of nose, causing more laughter.
“Ewww.” Octavia laughs at her who gets wet napkins thrown at her from Loona.
“Blitz, can you get Loona an actual drink? I know that it burned.” Stolas asks, he doesn’t even think about it. He gets up to grab some more napkins and a drink for her, as Cash continues telling his story.
However as he’s walking back he feels an intense headache, then he feels himself laying back until he falls hearing glass shatter.
“Blitz?”
His head hurts, he feels sore, and his neck feels strained as fuck.
“Blitz!”
It’s Stolas.
Opening his eyes, he can tell he’s lying on the ground. The Prince looked down at him, the room dark with its candles lit. “Fuck-.” He muttered, throat feeling dry, but his body was warm and sweaty.
“Are you alright?”
“I fell.”
“What?”
“What?”
There’s a moment of silence, both of them just looking at each other, before Stolas leaves. Then re-enters holding an ice pack for Blitz. Who takes it and puts it on his head, not moving from the floor.
“Is this real?”
“Real?”
“Stolas please- no vague shit. The spell.”
“Oh, yes.” Stolas crouches down, in an attempt to help the imp up.
He feels so groggy, like he’s drunk. But more aware, so aware that everything around even himself feels overwhelming.
“Let’s get you to bed.”
“I don’t need more sleep.”
“Blitz, time works differently. You were possessing your other self for hours.”
“Hours? How long was I asleep?”
“You weren’t sleeping, and twelve-“
“Twelve?!”
“Yes, darling. Now you’re slowly going to feel very tired within the hour. Your mind is slowly catching up to your present body.” The owl demon tries to explain, laying the imp down on the bed who closes his eyes. Ice bag still held against his temple.
“What about the other guy?”
“Other-? Your other self?”
“Yeah.”
“I told you not to do anything dangerous or weird-!”
“I-! I didn’t do that- I just tripped, hopefully he didn’t hit his head. Hate to see the family walk in on that.”
“Family?”
Damn. He really hopes he didn’t just accidentally kill his other self. It would suck to die from tripping and cracking your skull, or even just cracking a horn. Embarrassing
“Blitz?”
“Can we talk about it in the morning?” He asks, the realization that his life. Isn't like the other, is slowly dawning on him. His mom, dad, sister, his own kid.
Isn't real. None of it is really the same.
“Okay.” Stolas agrees, giving Blitz a supporting pat on the hand. Getting up to walk towards the den, before Blitz stops him.
“ Wait - do you want to cuddle?” He can see Stolas still, then giving out a laugh.
“Okay.”
