波の歌
Noelle had turned eighteen two weeks ago. It was also the birthday of one of her best friends, Kahono. They both decided to have a shared party. When both soulmates become at least 18, they both start to hear the music the other is listening to. Kahono begged Noelle for karaoke for their birthday, Noelle finally accepted after forever. It wasn't that she didn’t want Kahono to enjoy herself, it was just that Noelle figured since she was one of the birthday girls, people would want her to sing and… Noelle was a horrible singer so it made perfect sense why. Regardless though, it would’ve been unfair if she denied it, after all, it was Kahono’s birthday too.
Yesterday, Noelle had a very important realization when she was talking to Secre. Noelle was feeling weird around Kahono, like in a… way too happy kind of way. Secre just bluntly said she was in love. Noelle didn’t believe it at first, but after some thought and consideration she realized Secre was right. She kindly thanked Secre for the help and went to have time to herself. Was she a lesbian? No… she did at some point have real feelings for Asta until he got with Leo… so this meant that today was her… bisexual awakening she guessed?
She was happy to know the truth about her feelings, but at the same time she was scared. Her siblings were already as horrible as they were, and she was royalty. So for her to tell them she liked girls, it was a little nerve wrecking… Although Noelle was certain that Solid was gay so she didn’t know what to do with that. Nozel also probably wouldn’t mind… but it still made her nervous. Although… If Kahono was her soulmate they wouldn’t have a choice… Oh well now wasn’t the time to worry about it.
All of that was yesterday, before she had plans to look forward to. She made some plans to go hang out with Kahono. There was a festival happening in the capital to celebrate… existing? Noelle didn’t really know, but what she did know was that there would be a lot of new food and games to play and enjoy with Kahono. That’s when a thought crossed her mind. Would this be a date? Was this gonna be her first date? No… They were just friends hanging out… right? Although everyone she knew that was going was going with their significant other… Magna and Luck… Asta and Leo… Grey and Gauche… hell even Charmy was going with Rill! She couldn’t feel any more single then she does right now.
As Noelle got ready to leave she heard music. Like it was distant and getting closer. Like… her soulmate was also going to an event? It was possible, wasn't it? After all, she was supposed to meet her soulmate at some point so thinking she could meet them during this festival was… Nevermind! Kahono… She just needed to think of Kahono right now.
As Noelle finally entered the capital she started to hear the same music her soulmate heard earlier. “Hey Noelle! Over here!” Noelle turned her head to see Kahono waving to her. She looked nice.
“Hey Kahono, did I make you wait long?” Noelle asked. Kahono shook her head.
“Not at all. I’ve only been here a few minutes.” Kahono answered.
“I’m glad.” Kahono looked around.
“Well it seems like tonight is gonna be a fun night! Lots of food and games to try! So Noelle… since you invited me here… You’re paying, right?” Noelle facepalmed.
“Of course. What kind of da- I MEAN FRIEND would I be if I didn’t. Like you said, I was the one who invited you.” Kahono tilted her head.
“Huh? What were you about to say?” She questioned. Noelle turned red and violently shook her head.
“No, no! It’s not important! I didn’t say anything.” Kahono laughed.
“Well it's either something or nothing. Nevermind, so what did you wanna do first?”
Noelle thought for a few moments. “I haven’t really thought about it. I kinda just heard this was happening, I didn’t really look into it that much.”
“Haha! You’re funny Noelle. You invited me here without even knowing what would be happening? How about we look around and find something to do together.” Kahono suggested. Noelle nodded and looked at the crowd. She slowly grabbed Kahono’s hand and held it. Kahono looked at Noelle in confusion.
“Don’t get the wrong idea! It’s just so we don’t lose each other…” Kahono nodded. “Y-You look nice by the way…” She stuttered.
Kahono turned a little pink for a few moments. “Thanks! You look great as well!” She squeezed Noelle’s hand and started to drag Noelle around. They tried some food and some games when they ran into some familiar faces.
“Hey Noelle!” A cheery voice waved.
“Luck, hi…”
“Hey Luck! It’s great to see you again.” Kahono waved. Luck smiled. Magna was at his side looking around for non-chaotic things to do… hopefully.
“Hi Kahono! What are you doing here? You wanna fight!?” Luck asked.
“No thank you! Noelle invited me to go with her for this event. We’ve been having lots of fun so far, you?” Kahono explained.
“OH? Me and Magna have been having so much fun! Although people earlier didn’t seem to feel the same…”
Magna looked down at how Noelle and Kahono were holding hands and smirked. “Are you two finally dating? Seriously, Noelle talks about you non-st-” He didn’t get to finish his sentence as Noelle hit him with water and launched him to who knows where. Luck laughed.
“Well I have to go find Magna! See you later Noelle!” Luck waved and ran off.
Noelle was just covered in red. Kahono looked at her. “So you talk about me? That’s sweet of you.” Kahono smiled, she seemed happy. Noelle was still embarrassed.
As they made their way through the festival they decided to take a break and sit down somewhere. They were having a good conversation when another guy showed up.
“My, my, you’re very beautiful, would you like to go out with me?” He asked while staring at Kahono. Noelle was pissed. This guy? Flirting with her Kahono?
“No thank you.” Kahono replied and looked back at Noelle.
“No? Why the hell not? Am I too ugly for you?” He attempted to grab Kahono’s arm, but she pulled it away. Noelle stood up.
“She said no alright!? So just leave us alone.” She demanded. He scowled at Noelle.
“What makes you obligated to indulge in our conversation? You think just because you’re royalty you can do whatever you want?”
“What!? No! Of course not.” Noelle shot at him.
“Then what reason do you have?” He asked. Noelle thought of plenty of ways she could’ve replied, but out of all of them… Her mouth spoke before she could properly pick and…
“Because she’s my girlfriend and I really don’t appreciate scum like you trying to touch her!” Noelle explained as she grabbed Kahono’s hand. Kahono’s eyes widened and she blushed. The man turned to Kahono.
“Is this true?”
“You bet it is! Now go away before things my girlfriend gets violent with you!” She stuck her tongue out at the man and he rolled his eyes.
“Whatever… I won’t waste my time with a dumb lesbian.” He muttered as he walked away.
Noelle looked at Kahono and panicked. “A-ah! Uh… I… Well you know that I w-”
“Girlfriend? Noelle, is this true?” A voice questioned from behind. Noelle’s heart dropped. The timing literally couldn’t be any worse. She turned around.
“Uh… Nozel! W-What are you doing here? I wouldn’t expect you to be here…” Noelle was in full panic.
“I asked you a question.” He said. Kahono stared at him.
“So this is your brother? What’s with the weird hair?” She asked.
“I never thought you’d be into females…” Nozel mumbled to himself. Kahono walked up to him.
“Do you have a problem with that?” Noelle was frozen. What was gonna happen? Was Nozel gonna stop being nice to her? Would she be even more disgraced?
“No. I just wasn’t expecting it, that’s all.” Nozel answered. Noelle perked up.
“Really? You really don’t mind?” She wavered.
“No, I don’t. It doesn’t matter to me what gender you choose to like. It doesn’t change anything. You’re still a strong magic knight and it doesn’t make you any less.” Noelle smiled.
“Thank you so much Nozel! I’m glad… but… why exactly are you here? I wouldn't take this place as somewhere to hang out. I don’t think any magic knight captains were required to come…” Nozel sighed.
“Nebra and Solid dragged me here. I just needed a break from them. Right now Solid is trying to win himself some stuffed horse with a horn.” Nozel explained. Noelle laughed at the thought of Solid with a stuffed unicorn. Her suspicions about Solid only grew.
“Well you probably shouldn’t keep them waiting for too long then. Solid can be pretty impatient…” Noelle suggested. Nozel nodded.
“Well I’ll be on my way then. Have fun with…”
“Kahono” Kahono told Nozel.
“Kahono.” Nozel repeated. After that, Nozel left, leaving Noelle and Kahono to process what just happened.
Kahono turned to Noelle. “So… does this mean we're a thing now?” She asked. Noelle nearly screamed.
“WHAT!? No! I mean… Unless you wanna be… I mean, do you? Do you… think of me like that?” Noelle malfunctioned. Kahono grabbed Noelle’s hands.
“If you’d like to, I’d love to be your real girlfriend.” Kahono answered.
“Really!?”
Kahono nodded with a giggle. “Yeah! Do you maybe wanna go somewhere a bit quieter?” She asked. Noelle nodded.
“Y-yeah… sure… Finral should be somewhere around here…” Noelle mumbled, Kahono smiled and started to drag Noelle in a random direction.
“Well let’s go find him then!”
After they found Finral… hiding from Yami… He created a portal and Noelle and Kahono left.
Noelle and Kahono looked at the waves and sat down next to each other on the sand. “The beach is always beautiful at night!” Kahono smiled. Noelle agreed.
“Remember when we first met? You were singing that song. It was beautiful, and you’ve only gotten better!” Noelle recalled. Kahono nodded.
“So, you wanna hear it?” She asked.
“Huh?”
“My song! You wanna hear it?” She repeated. Noelle smiled.
“Of course, I would love to…” She replied.
Kahono took a deep breath and started to sing. Noelle listened and closed her eyes. She rested her head on Kahono’s shoulder. Noelle looked calm on the outside, but inside… ‘Is this ok? Are we moving too fast? Is she uncomfortable?’ All doubts left as Kahono put her arm around Noelle.
As she sang, she heard her own voice in her mind. It’s the song her soulmate was listening to. So this meant… Her and Noelle were really made for each other. Kahono’s relief and happiness were indescribable. After she was finished Noelle brought her head up and looked at Kahono.
“I’m so glad!” She stated. Noelle tilted her head. “What? We’re soulmates Noelle!” She told Noelle as she brought her arms around Noelle.
“W-What!? Really?” She stuttered. Kahono nodded.
“I heard the song my soulmate was listening to. It was me! I heard my own voice echo in my mind. So that can only mean that we really do belong together.”
Noelle looked at Kahono. “So this is real? We’re really girlfriends now!?” If Noelle was dreaming she hoped to never wake up unless this became a reality.
“Yup! This is real. We’re officially girlfriends now my darling!” Noelle turned into a strawberry and hid her face in Kahono’s shoulder, causing her to laugh.
“So if this is real then…” Noelle got closer to Kahono, but she chickened out and backed up.
“What’s wrong? You need proof this is real, right?” Kahono asked playfully. “Hey, look at me.” She requested. Noelle turned and Kahono immediately kissed her. After processing what was happening, Noelle’s eyes fluttered shut and she kissed back.
“I love you Noelle!” Kahono giggled uncontrollably.
“Yeah… I love you too… or whatever…” Noelle crossed her arms and turned her head.
After a few moments of silence a nosy voice spoke up. “MY SISTER HAS A GIRLFRIEND!” It shouted. Kahono snapped her head to the intruding noise.
“KIATO!? When did you get here!?” She shouted.
“My sister has a girlfriend.” He repeated. Kahono clenched her fists.
“Go away!” She yelled as she picked up a rock and threw it at Kiato.
He ran away screaming.
