Their party settled for the night, but Ezran still felt wide awake. Callum fell asleep as soon as he settled in his sleeping bag and Soren was snoring loudly, which made it hard for Rayla to fall asleep.
"Hey, Rayla?" Ezran whispered.
"What?"
"Knock knock."
She watched him dumbfounded. "What??"
"You don't have 'knock knock' jokes in Xadia?"
"Again, what?"
"Ask who's there. Knock knock."
"Okay... who's there?"
"Dragon. Now ask dragon who."
"I don't get where this is going."
"Just ask."
"Dragon who?"
"You drag on. Hahaha! Get it? Drag-on?"
"Yes... I don't get why it's funny though. It seems to me like you were the one who's dragging on. She giggled."
"What? That's what made you laugh?"
"Sorry Ez, it was funny. I mean, not the joke."
"Let me try another. Why did the banther crossed the road?"
"I don't know, why?"
"To get to the other side!" He said while laughing.
"Really? That was even worse."
"Wait! Wait. Hahaha... This one you'll like. Knock knock."
"Who’s there?"
"Tank."
"Tank who?"
"You’re welcome."
"What? Ohhhhh hahaha! This is a good one. Let me try. Hmmm…" She thought of an idea. "Okay, I got it. Knock knock."
"Who's there?"
"Werrar."
"Werrar who?"
"I'm outside, let me in."
"Hahaha!" They both laughed, clasping a hand on their mouths, trying to muffle their giggles and stay quiet. Rayla wiped the tears that formed on the edges of her eyes and sighed.
"Haha! that was a good one. Oh! I have a joke you're going to love." Ez continued after his giggles subsided.
"Go for it."
"What does the cow say when night comes?"
"What's a cow?" A confused look on her face.
"Oh haha, I forgot you don't know animals from the human lands. Ummm, remember those big animals we saw back in the town we went in to find a healer for Zym's egg? Kind of the size of your shadowpaw, black and white spots, stinky, very loud.
"Oh righttt, what does it say?"
"Mooooooon."
"Hahaha. That's stupid. But funny."
"Would you tell me Xadian jokes?"
"Of course!"
"Guyyyyyysss! Go to sleeeeeep." Callum mumbled, half asleep.
"I'll tell you tomorrow." She whispered and winked at him.
He smiled. "Good night, Rayla."
"Good night, Ez."
