Luke feels the gush of wind on his skin, the rush of thoughts and emotions as he feels his end nears. He cries for his mother and the meaning of his death for his family.
Then everything stops, and when he opens his eyes, he is greeted by a woman with dark skin and dark curly hair, but what gets his attention is that she has wings. The woman greeted him with a smile and introduced herself.
Luke’s lips quivered when she introduced herself as Death. “My poor mother will have no body to bury this time.”
Death gathers Luke's body into her arms and smiles before saying. “I'm going to give you a boon, and I will grant you lives that you wish to be spared of my gift by giving me your life.”
Luke looks at her and asks, “My life is worth a hundred of lives? But I am no one.”
Death smiles at him gently and somewhat hopeful, “Your life is worth infinite lives for the one that you're going to save.”
Luke was confused and asked, “Why?”
Death looks at the sky, reaching one of her hands on the clouds; she smiles, making Luke smile too. Death looked back at Luke and spoke, her voice sounding like a thousand voices speaking all at once, “Because your soul is connected to my brother in another world. In that world, your name is Orpheus, son of Morpheus, the lord of dreams. Orpheus wants to die, but only my brother can grant it; if Morpheus kills him, he too will die. But if you 'go' there, the fates will acknowledge your presence as his son, and you're going to spare my brother from his doom.”
Luke was flabbergasted by so much information, but if it meant that he could save his family, why not.
Luke reached out his hand on Death’s own hands. “I can save everyone that I want to?”
Death nodded and answered, “Yes. I will not grant them my gift, which will sway their destiny's original design.”
Luke nodded in return and answered, “Then I wish for everyone that is loyal to my mother to be spared from their deaths.”
Death smiles; this time, it reaches her eyes. “Thank you, Lucerys.”
Then everything fades into black, the scream of his uncle is now blending with the wind, and Luke closes his eyes and accepts Death’s embrace.
