Chapter Text

Kageyama and Kyoutani were now walking back home after the whole fiasco with their soulmates in complete utter silence which was eating Kageyama alive. He couldn’t bare it. After the revelation that Kyo also saw his soulmate, it made him curious and he was itching to know what happened. Sadly he knows that even if he tries he probably wouldn’t get an answer from him since even though they’ve only known each other for a short time he can tell that he is a very reserved person. So instead he stayed silent. Once they made it back home no one said anything about the incidents (Can they really be called that though? It’s not like they interacted with them or anything) in the stores so naturally, they both decided to forget it as if it never happened. They spent the rest of the day together until Kyoutani had to leave.

Soon the weekend ended and it was time for school again. Kageyama woke up and sat on his bed with a groan but then plopped back down as he thought of what happened days before. ‘Shit how can I forget about that?!’ He grabbed his pillow and started hitting his bed aggressively to relieve his anger.

“Ugh am I that stupid! How did I manage to lose the last two remaining people that somewhat cared for me?!” he yelled in anger. After hitting his bed a few more times (And insulting himself) he then sat down on the floor and sighed, throwing the pillow aside.

“Hah, who am I kidding? They never liked me from the start,” the silence was overwhelming so before he could let his feelings get the best of him he choose instead to get up and get ready for school.

He walked to the kitchen and as always he saw a letter from his parents. Well, his dad to be exact. Telling him that they have work to finish somewhere and that he won’t be seeing them for a while. He sighed once again. Thinking back to when he was a child and remembering how even back then that’s all they ever did. He can tell his dad is trying though. He always is and always had. His mom on the other hand is a whole other story. Overall they barely had any time for him and Miwa. Speaking of Miwa, his sister, he hasn’t seen her since she left for university. It’s been years. He hopes she’s doing well even if she left him alone. It’s not like he can blame her or anything. He would’ve done the same if he was in her position.

Anyway enough of the sad backstory, it’s to head to school and face whatever is coming his way.

Kageyama walked to class and rushed to his seat, banging his head on the desk. Luckily his former soulmates weren’t in his class so he didn’t have to deal with that first thing in the morning. He stayed with his head down and was on the verge of falling asleep until he heard a loud gasp which made him look up in confusion.

“You’re the guy from the store!” yelled the two mysterious people (A boy and girl who looked identical) right in front of his desk.

He froze. ‘What in the world are they talking about?!’ He examined them more closely until something in his brain clicked.

“Wait you’re the weirdos that kept bickering at each other!” he screamed back.

The two looked at each other and burst out laughing. All he could do was stare in disbelief at the sudden laughter. They calmed after a few seconds until continuing with the conversation that Kageyama didn’t even know they were having.

“So, store boy, what are you doing here?” the boy asked.

Kageyama was utterly dumbfounded. ‘Is he a moron or something?!’ He was about to respond until the girl smacked the boys head.

“Are you stupid or something? Were at school, you idiot! What do you think he’s doing here?!” she yelled, saying that last part sarcastically.

They began bickering back in forth. It reminded him of the first time they met at the store and it made him chuckle. He thought they didn’t hear him until they both turned to look at him.

“What are you laughing at!” the girl spat crossing her arms while looking to the side in embarrassment.

“Yeah!” the boy remarked back doing the same thing as her.

“Me? I’m not the one causing a scene over something meaningless,” he explained.

The two glanced at each other fiddling with their hands before bursting out an apology that Kageyama could barely comprehend.

“We're sorry that we caused a scene without thinking. It’s just that we recognized you and were in shock that you go to the same school as us since we weren’t expecting it! We never thought we would see store boy in our school! Let alone in our exact class—“

“Okay that’s enough,” Kageyama interrupted. He had his hands covering his face. ’Gosh this is so embarrassing!’ He could feel the stares of his classmates which made him uncomfortable. ‘Why is this happening to me?!’ He then finally uncovered his face and decided to end their conversation quickly before the stares eat him alive.

“All right well class is about to start so maybe it would be best for you two to go to your seats— but before that, who are you two?”

‘Wait why did I say that like such an asshole!’

“Uh, I didn’t mean it like that it's just I was wondering what your names were since I don’t know y’all and I’m so confused right now so please don’t think I’m rude!” He once again covered his face. ‘Why am I like this!?’

“Aww, how cute!” the girl cooed.

“Don’t worry we didn’t think you were rude,” the boy reassured.

“I’m Misato Takahashi,” She then gestured to the boy next to her. “And this is my twin brother Hikaru Takahashi.”

Both twins now stared at him and asked simultaneously. “What about you? What’s your name?”

“I’m… Tobio Kageyama”, He said nervously averting his eyes.

They smiled at him with the biggest grin they could muster.

Suddenly he felt two hands holding his.

“Let’s be friends!” They declared.

Kageyama with all the courage he had stuttered. “W-what!?”

‘What is it with me randomly meeting people and befriending them right after?’ He thought fondly. The fact that he was able to make friends on his own was surprising and slightly comforting.

Suddenly even if it was just for a moment. Kageyama for once didn’t think about soulmates or anything relating to THEM but instead of the fact that he had friends. People who might actually care for him.

Maybe things will get better. Eventually. Maybe. Who knows. All he could do is hope.

Notes:

more OCs because yeah (they're not that important but they will be somewhat helpful i guess)

Notes:

[additional info : if you put up a wall before you can meet your soulmate/s then when you make eye contact for the first time nothing will happen and it would be as if you weren’t bound together. Platonic soulmates also exists but ill explain that later. and other stuff too.] but yeah i’ll make this better when i have the energy hehe
