Chapter 1
Buck stared at his fellow firefighters with the biggest shit eating smirk on his face. For months The 118 had been treating him like he was sort of man whore since he was always around and taking women home to have a one night stand, however that was far from the truth.
“Wait, are you saying that all Buck did was take you to his place so that you could sober up?” Chimmey asked dumbfound as he looked at one of the women that he knew Buck had been with a few times.
“Yes, All of us have met him at a bar and other places. We all had a little to much to drink and he offered to take us home.” The pretty redhead replied staring at The Asian firefighter with a look that screamed that she was not happy at what he was talking about.
“Where in the world would you get the idea that he was sleeping with us?” Another woman this time a blond asked with the same look.
“It’s just that he was always taking random women home all the time and we thought…” Chimmey started to say only to get cut off by the tallest of the women.
“So instead of asking or believing what he said, you though right away that he was sleeping with anything with legs and that he was a manwhore?” The dark haired women asked glaring at Chim like he was nothing bug a bug.
Chimmey couldn’t think of anything to say since that was just what he thought about the youngest member of the team.
“That is just plain disgusting. You all just assumed that he was sleeping around without any proof. And you call yourself his teammates.” Another blond who had faint scars of bruises on her face. “That man has saved my life. What you thought that was him hooking up with me in the firetruck and getting fired over it was him getting me away from my abusive husband. I almost had a heart attack when I found out that this so called captain didn’t even let his explain why Evan was out there.”
Bobby Nash at least look ashamed at the mention of The Firetruck stealing issue. He didn’t even give Buck the chance to explain like he would do everyone else and just fired him only to find out a few days later the whole reason behind that from The Fire Chief and The Police.
Buck had forgiven him saying he understood but since that day He was a little closed off to everyone and with good reason since no one would let him talk or explain.
Bobby chanced a look over to Buck only to see a look on the Blond’s face that he had never seen. It was a look of pure gleefulness and satisfaction at the treatment Everyone was getting now that they had found out the truth behind his ‘hook-ups’. How long had Buck kept that in when no matter how many times he wanted to say something everyone would treat it like a joke.
Hen just stood there as she was nailed to the wall by the women that Buck had saved in more ways then one. She felt ashamed of herself for judging Buck without really knowing him. She had treated Him just like she had been treated before Bobby had joined. Hen could get past the look on Buck’s face as he looked at all of them. He was enjoying the verbal beat down everyone was getting and he had a right too.
Chim felt like he wanted to throw up. He had treated Buck to bad that he realized he was no better that the jerks that mistreated him when he 1st joined the 118. He should have been showing The newbie the ropes instead of being an unintentional bully. The look on Buck’s face sent shivers down his back. The Paramedic never knew that kind of look could ever be on such a sweet and gentle face but then again he had never taken the time to really get to know Buck only judging him.
The rest of A shift just stayed where they were since they had nothing to do with Buck being teased.
Jackson a middle age white firefighter had teased Buck about his hook-ups with making sure he was using protection. He had thought about using threat about making sure about consent but didn’t as while at the time he didn’t know much about Buckley he knew just by looking at him that he wasn’t someone that would force anyone into something they didn’t want to do. Plus he can admit that the threat was more about his 16 year old daughter getting a crush on the blond firefighter who treated her like a princess then anything.
Jackson also was scared to death at the look on Buck’s face right now. He knew that the young firefighter was hiding something else as no one could have a look like that and be that calm. However he was gonna leave it at that as everyone allowed to keep their secrets.
The other firefighters of A Shift were glad that they weren’t the one targeted by these women who Buckley had helped when needed. Sure they had teased him a little but stopped shortly when they began to figure out that they were close to being bullies and if Nash wasn’t gonna call them out on it they would do that themselves.
A scream from one of the women got everyone's attention as she told the other women to hold her back before she went after Chimney.
“You have the balls although I think you don’t have any with the way you act to accuse him of cat fishing women when you are just the same. Yes I know about what happened.” The woman snarled showing her teeth as she was being held back by the other women. “You ex-girlfriend was my former roommate and she used to tell me things about her ‘lying’ Boyfriend. Yes she knew the entire time that you were taking others rescues and passing them as your own. That is the same thing as cat fishing. But unlike you Buck had no one on his side but us. We went to the women to tell them the truth about what happen but where were you? You have the nerve to asked one of the girls on a date when this was happening. Disgusting. No wonder you can’t get a girlfriend when all you do is lie to them.”
Chim stood frozen in place as he was again taken to the wall. What this woman was saying was true. Buck had been there for him through everything and when he needed help Chim had turned on him. He was cat fishing women by lying to them.
The beat down went on for another 30 minutes before the ladies left with Buck in tow saying that he was gonna go where he was safe so everyone could think about what they had done. All the while Buck’s face had never changed.
Once everyone was sure that Buck and the women were gone, everyone felt like they could breath again.
“What did we do?!” Hen yelled out as she walked up the stairs to find a place to sit.
“Nothing good that is for sure.” One of the A Shift pointed out with a smirk in their voice.
Hen looked over to see that it was a young African American women in her 30s named Cassie Martin who never got into the issues with Buck and his sex life. She even told Hen and the others to knock it off as what ever Buck did off duty was his own and that if never affect him on shift.
“How does it feel to be wrong about everything you thought you knew about Buckley? Still thinking I’m sleeping with him?” Martin asked with so much Venom in her voice.
Hen knew that Martin was enjoying every minute of what had happened. Hen knew Cassie wasn’t a mean or vicious person and did get along with her. However when it came to Buck who Cassie had bonded with during his 1st week here she could become down right protective.
Hen and the others tried to think of something as they did think that she and Buck were sleeping together when Cassie have been on another shift.
“You knew?!”
“Of course I knew the truth! Who do you think helped him out when he was working on getting women out of an abusive situation. He needed the help of another when it came to getting the women out. Of course you would have known that if you had knocked off the teasing and judgment but nope you just thought he was a man whore.” Cassie replied with just as much venom as before.
Bobby really wanted to stop Martin but he really couldn’t as she wasn’t doing anything but speaking the truth. He knew he had a lot to make up for as he had told Buck and Martin to keep their relationship out of the firehouse as they seemed to be getting close. He even gave Buck a verbal warning only to find out now that it was only a friendship type of relationship.
“I just hope that you have all learned your lesson about judging as That look on Buck’s face scared the crap out of me and I’ve only seen in once to which that time was not a good time. How long had he been holding that in? I’m glad that those women came to set everything straight. But don’t expect for things to be forgiven right away.” Cassie replied in her normal tone as she and the others walked down to the locker rooms to change out since their shifts were over.
“Just what do we don’t know about Buck? Just what did we him taking to us about himself with what we did?” Chimmey asked out loud. He was hurting inside about being called out on the spot about the way he treated the youngest member who had a heart of good.
“I don’t know Chim, I Don’t know.” Bobby replied with sadness in his voice as he knew he had messed up big time with the young blond.
