"Akito, there's something I-" Toya started.
"Sorry, I should get changed first. It's kinda awkward wearing this in front of someone..." Akito interrupted.
Toya nodded understandingly, trying not to show his disappointment before standing up and leaving the room, quietly shutting the door. Akito sighed and grabbed a random pillow, just to scream silently into it. He was as red as a tomato, completely flushed. Why did Toya have to see him like this? In.. in this outfit. Why did he have to see Akito wearing a skirt? Why? He heavily exhaled and hurried to change into more appropriate attire, putting all his previous clothes back where they belonged. Akito started to walk towards the door to let Toya in before he stopped abruptly. Did he forget something? Why did something feel... off? He shrugged it off, because if he forgot something, it probably wasn't important. Probably. He continued towards the door and opened it.
"I'm done, Toya. You can come in now."
Toya looked up from his phone and stopped leaning on the wall. "Ah, okay."
They both returned to Akito's room, shutting the door. Akito immediately sat on the bed and started fidgeting with his hands, unconsciously peeling at the skin around his nails. He suddenly felt like he had to tell Toya how he felt about him. Now. He gazed around his room. Of course, Akito being Akito, he didn't notice that the blue-haired boy beside him was staring at him.
"Akito, are you okay? You're picking at your skin." Toya pointed out.
"Wh- oh. Yeah, I'm fine." Akito replied nervously.
...
"Akito, I-"
"Toya, I-"
They both looked at each other in surprise and shock. They both stared at the other for a few seconds before Akito broke the tension between them.
"Sorry, uh... you go first."
Toya scratched the back of his neck. "Okay, well... Akito, I've known you for a long time. I- never mind, that's obvious."
Akito saw that Toya was more nervous than usual, considering he never stutters. "Hey, it's okay, just get to the point, it's probably easier for you."
"I..."
"...Akito, I like you."
"What?" Akito was dumbfounded. He was going to say that.
"I like you, and not just as a friend, not as best friends, more than partners, even. I love you, I- I want to be your boyfriend." Toya blurted.
Akito was so surprised, he didn't even notice that tears had started building up. "Toya, I-"
"I understand if you dont feel the same way, it doesn't have to affect our friendship." Toya stated while looking away. He just couldn't face his partner.
"T-Toya you dumbass. Why wouldn't I feel the same way?" Akito protested. "I want to be yours, I also want to be your boyfriend. I love you just as much and- and- I just want to be with you forever!"
Akito grabbed Toya's face and turned it to face him. "Look here, you have no right to be embarrassed. You- I-"
Akito let go to forcefully wipe away his own tears. Toya pushed Akito's hands away and kissed him passionately. Akito's eyes went wide before he closed them and pulled away from embarrassment, now hugging Toya tightly. His face was nested on Toya's shoulder as he started crying, sobbing silently. Toya hugged the ginger as well, rubbing circles on his back.
"I'm sorry, I d- I don't even know why I'm crying, I- I just love you. So much it fucking hurts. It fucking hurts, Toya." Akito said between sobs. He was now sitting on the taller's lap, not even knowing how he got there.
Toya hushed him, holding him close. "It's okay Akito, it's okay, just let it out. I'm here for you."
Both of them don't even know how their situation has escalated into this. In fact, this was probably the first time anyone from Vivid Bad Squad had seen Akito this vulnerable, nor had they seen him shed a single tear. Now look at them. Akito had broken down for "no reason", according to himself, although he knew very well he just couldn't believe his crush liked him back because it had seemed impossible.
Akito cried for a bit longer before he became quiet. Toya pulled back to see if Akito was awake.
"Akito? My love?" Toya asked.
Akito rubbed his eyes to get rid of any tears that hadn't dried up. "M'sorry... and- don't just call me that. It's- it's weird." He sniffled again, just once before looking back at who is now his boyfriend.
"Sorry, but we're boyfriends now, aren't we?" He said in a soft tone.
Akito grumbled a bit, clearly blushing and embarrassed.
Toya came over at around 8pm, so it was now around 9:30. Akito gave him a small peck on the lips before getting off and laying on the bed.
"C'mere..." He said, patting on the empty space next to him.
Toya smiled at the ginger. "Of course, but I should change into something else first, shouldn't I? Do you have anything I could wear?"
"Mmh. There's a gray shirt in there. You should see it right away." Akito pointed towards the closet groggily.
Akito grabbed a light blue cat plush Toya had previously given to him and started to doze off, facing the other side of the room. Shortly after, Toya slowly climbed into bed and laid down but despite his best efforts, he woke up Akito. Akito didn't say anything, he only let go of the soft plush and turned around to pull his partner close and snuggle into his chest. Toya felt a bit of guilt knowing that he had woken Akito but he stayed silent and gently caressed the back of the smaller's head and playing with his soft hair.
"I love you Akito." Toya whispered.
"...I love you too."
