Chapter Text
Alfred’s eye twitched, his brother’s gentleness and naive optimism irritated him most of the time but today it was downright insufferable “How much have you told her about the war?” He snapped.
Matthew was silent for a moment, lying still. “What are you implying?” He asked softly. Alfred rolled his eyes and tutted in annoyance. Was Mathew really that thick? Did he really have to say the obvious?
“She’s a spy” he snapped. Matthew furrowed his brows and pressed his lips into a line. Alfred felt a headache coming on. Good god. He really needed a cigarette. He pulled a hand rolled one out of his pocket, he lit it. Blowing a cloud of grey smoke out the side of his mouth.
“She’s been feeding information back to-“
“I know what a spy does”
Alfred’s teeth clamped down hard on his cigette, very annoyed at Mathew’s calm reaction. Alfred felt his eye twitch again, feeling a bitter contempt in this moment for his weakling brother. Who was taken so easily by this woman. Canada.. the love sick puppy who may have just lost them the entire war by whispering wartime secrets right into the enemy’s ear. How much had he told this she-wolf?
He absentmindedly dipped his hand into his empty pocket- wait- empty?Frantically shoved his hands deep into his pockets. The letter was gone. He let out an annoyed huff. But that didnt matter. Its not like Mathew could read it anyway.
Looking down at his helpless brother. He suddenly felt rage. Not towards him. But towards this maniplatuve vixen who had exploited him in his weakest moments. She needed to be crushed. Now.
“Matthew. I’ll deal with you later. But this woman has to die. Before she does more damage” before Mathew could respond. Alfred took out his gun. Flicking off the safety with a loud click. Mathew recognised the sound immeadetly.
“NO!” He yelled. Mathew lunged forward out of bed and tackled his brother down. The gun went off with a bang.
—
You glanced up from the letter. The loud bang of the gun making you jump. Hastily you tucked the letter down the front of your dress. Just as the doors burst open.
You saw the gun in Alfred’s hand. “I know what you have been doing!” You ducked behind a stone pillar as the bullet rochetted off of it. You screamed. Normally Alfred would have sent someone else to have the spy arrested and left the whole thing up to that same someone else to deal with. But not this case. Oh no… this was personal. She messed with his brother. Now she had to die.
You heard a thud and grunts. Cautiously you peaked around the pillar.
Mathew had wrestled his brother down. Pinning him down. The cloth that had covered his eyes from the moment you met him had been ripped off. His eyes…. An astonishing violet colour.
“You… your…” you stuttered.
Mathew shook his head frantically. “JUST RUN”
You wordlessly nodded. Before flinging yourself out of the chaple doors and into the cold morning air. Over your heart thudding erractically in your ears you heard sevreal more gunshots, ringing out across the quite countryside.
Something slammed into your shoulder with the speed of a freight train. You fell onto all fours.
As you felt warmth trickle down your shoulder.
You had been shot.
The blood that leaked out of your shoulder onto the ground looked black. You let out wheezing gasps.Despite the intense pain in your shoulder. You kept going, pushing yourself up onto your feet again. If you lay down now you would be dead. You clutched your shoulder feeling the warm blood leak out. You were half yelling half sobbing. You staggered into into the woods.
Alfred watched as you limped into the tree line from the door of the chapel. The smoking gun in his hand. He smirked and lowered it. He could have easily put a bullet through your skull. But a quick death was too good for you. After all the trouble you had caused. You deserved a slow death.
But then he shrugged. “Pity.” He turned to look at his now unconious brother, while at the same time searching for another cigarette in his pockets “I would have liked to taste her”
