Summary:

New management, as always, means new updates to the animatronics.

Chapter 1: Cheech and Chong

Chapter Text

Every Sunday night, when the mall closed a little early and the "cool" security guard, Michael, was the only one on patrol, the animatronics partied in a way much differently than they did with the kids. Due to a recent major update in the effort to give the robots more "human" traits, they gained the ability to be under the influence of things like alcohol and marijuana- a very risky move in the hopes to make the animatronics happier, fulfilled, and cooperative.

The glamrocks enjoyed this immensely. They'd always wanted to drink and party like the hip humans do, so on those Sundays they would break into the kitchens of the bar and burglarize as much as possible, before returning to one of their greenrooms and partying all night. They were wild, untamed, and usually caused a mess of some kind they had to clean when they woke up, fighting through their mild yet bothersome hangovers as they trudged to start the work week. Despite the aftermath, though, it was fun and freeing, and the promise of a Sunday party kept them satisfied during their jobs all week.

The daycare attendants, however, were far less satisfied. They hadn't been separated for very long but found it difficult to be by themselves for the first time in their life- so they still stuck together as much as they could. However, the new slew of updates left them with more free time and curiosity than ever before.

They'd heard of the parties the glamrocks threw, and having gotten the update as well, decided to try to attend one single night. It wasn't an experience either of them enjoyed. Seeing the way the others acted after drinking was more then enough to deter them from trying it and encourage them to leave.

They were still curious, though. To get an update so unique and full of potential only to have it make you a bumbling, stupid-

"Hey!" Sun interrupted Moon, turning to shoot him a glare from where he was crouched cleaning a table. It was the last thing they had to do for the night, cleaning always faster on Sundays. "They're not stupid! Just... just not themselves."

Moon grimaced but said nothing, returning to his own cleaning. The tables had smatterings of crayon marks and glitter glue drops, but it wasn't as bad as usual. There was a stretch of silence.

"But..." Sun began, setting down his cloth. "I... I wouldn't mind going somewhere tonight."

Moon paused for a second. "Goooing somewhere?"

"Y-yeah! Like, um, leaving the Daycare for juuust a tinsie bit- now that- uh, that I... can?" Sun puttered off, not looking at his twin yet.

Moon was quiet for a moment. He knew Sun was stir-crazy, on top of already knowing the others were having fun with a freedom he now had too. Being granted free roam of the plex was something Sun hadn't really taken advantage of yet- he rarely even had a need to leave, and being outside the daycare, especially by himself, was unnerving.

The blue robot tipped his faceplate up slightly. "I know a placeee..."

The update, along with a few other changes around the mall, were in part accredited to the new assistant director. He was more liberal and lenient, encouraging more freedom for the animatronics as well as more accessibility for staff.

One of the least used additions, however, was the single smoking room installed on the second floor, behind the shops and out of the reach of the customers. It was created to stop the problem of employees leaving the plex while clocked in to smoke, but wasn't even known about by most of the staff.

He visited it often, only for a few moments, during his patrols. It was a little difficult to reach but Moon knew if he could get to it through the vents than Sun could too. It wasn't anything special- smaller yet cozy, with lounge chairs and a wide table.

The thing that made it so special to Moon, however, was the single window on the wall opposite the door- a rarity in the complex. It faced the parking lot, lit up by yellow posts until the doors locked at midnight. There was a line of trees just beyond the pavement, which were currently starting to fill with the first flowers of April.

"I think you would like it, Sun," he sang, "but we have to break a ruuuuule to get there..."

The yellow animatronic finally turned to him, eyes narrow. "...what rule?"

Moon tittered. "The ventssss." Just as Sun was about to open his mouth in protest, he was cut off. "There is a window. To the outssside."

Sun's mouth shut. He thought for a moment, looking down at the mats between him and his brother. He'd never seen the outside before- only photos the children would bring in to show him of them playing in the outdoors. He wanted to see the sun, and the sky, and maybe a tree, and-

"O-okay, yes," he hesitantly agreed. "But- but only for a little!"

This pulled a chuckle out of Moon, red eyes bright. "Of courseee..."

The rest of the cleaning went by quickly, and soon Moon was coaxing Sun into the vent hanging in the lobby. "B-b-but what if it can't hold me?"

He rolled his eyes. "I'm in them all the time, and they've neeever broken," he assured, hand outstretched. A complete lie, but Sunny didn't need to know that. His twin sighed before finally taking Moon's hand, letting him help pull Sun into the vent.

They moved quickly, used to crawling around the playstructure's tubes, until Moon arrived at a vent and put a finger to his smile. "I think... someone is in hereee," he whispered, silently popping the vent cover off and pulling it into the tunnel. Slowly, the two of them peeked their heads out, peering down into the lit room.

You sat in a chair pulled up to the window, head leaning on one hand propped up on the wide window sill as you gazed out into the parking lot. It was dark and lit gold by the lamp posts, similar to the lighting inside from lamps on either side of the room. Also on the window sill sat curious objects, including a lighter, a shiny metal container, and a bag with some sort of plant matter inside. The window was open, letting the cool but manageable night air into the space.

Moon instinctively covered his mouth and nose as smoke billowed out from your unseen lips, some trickling into the room as most escaped through the window. He almost turned to Sun to warn him, hating the smell of cigarette smoke that so often permeated the room, before the yellow bot hummed. "It smells nice," he whispered as low as he could.

Moon looked at him quizzically before hesitantly lowering his hand. Sure enough, it smelt different and surprisingly good- like plants and outside and what he imagined fresh, nice soil smelt like. Like the outside, just beyond the window.

Sun, almost reading Moon's mind, leaned out a little further to stare out the open window. It wasn't very much of a view but he was still mesmerized, moving out a little further. Moon put a hand on his chest to keep him back, but it was too late. He went about an inch too far forward and his knee slipped out from under him, throwing him off balance. He scrambled to grip the edge of the vent, failed, and grabbed onto Moon's collar as he tipped forward.

The momentum of Sun falling pulled Moon right along with him, and there was a cacophony of thuds, static and metal as the two bots tumbled over each other out of the vent and onto the floor.

You screamed from where you sat, head whipping around instantly as you dropped what you were holding and stood fast enough to knock your chair over. There was a pile of robot in the middle of the room, shifting and exclaiming as they moved to get off one another. You looked up momentarily to the open air vent, eyebrow raising.

Finally they stood rigidly, silently staring at you with wide, bright eyes. You recognized them vaguely from the pamphlet you were given upon being hired and the posters scattered around the complex, but you'd yet to meet the daycare attendants in person.

"Um..." you began, your mind moving slow in processing. "Hi."

They were quiet, watching you nervously. The yellow one's eyes flitted to the window for a moment, before going back to you, and the puzzle was put together a little in your head.

"D... d'ya like the window? It's, uh..." You looked at it for a moment, then back to them, then down at the ground as you picked your chair up and set it right. "It's cool if you wanna look at it."

For another few seconds nothing happened, before Moon's eyes flashed blue as he scanned your face, eyes narrow.

You were new-ish. You had a few weeks of experience at the plex as an on-the-go mechanic in the evenings, but it seemed you had a few years of history working at other Fazbear locations, including an almost three-year run at the Circus Baby sister location that caught his eye.

Your current shift was until midnight, but he assumed like other nighttime employees on Sundays, you had finished early and were running out the rest of your shift.

Sun also inspected you for a moment. Your heart rate was slightly slower than normal despite your scare moments ago, and you seemed relaxed as you sat back in your chair. You were... pretty. He liked the way your hair sat and the color of your eyes. You looked very different from the other mechanics he'd met.

"What are you doing in hereee?" Moon finally asked, leaning his face closer. You looked at your things before noticing what you had dropped and picked it up. It was a small cylindrical object, made of a rubbery, colorful silicone. There was a wide hole in the top, full of the same green substance in the bag- though some of it looked to be burnt.

"Smoking," you replied simply, setting the object down on the sill. "This is a smoking room, after all."

"Buuut..." he drawled, pointing at your things, "that's not what the others use."

You tilted your head, quiet for a second, before you realized what he was talking about and shrugged. "I don't smoke tobaccoo, no. It's so gross." You made a face at the thought, to Moon's mild amusement.

"No, this is different. Uh... do you two know what marijuana is?" you asked hesitantly, train of thought fuzzy as they looked at each other. There was a weight to their gaze, like an unspoken conversation, as their eyes held each other imploringly.

This was their chance, Sun and Moon thought. Alcohol was horrible and disgusting and destructive, but you just looked comfortable smoking something that smelled really good. They could finally know it and feel it and do it, just like the Glamrocks did.

They wordlessly agreed, long since able to predict each other, before turning to you again. Their nervousness was gone, and you quickly placed their new expression- curious.

The Sun spoke, hesitant but interested. "...my name is Sun! What's your name?"

You blinked at the topic change but smiled nonetheless, introducing yourself before gesturing to the chairs. "Would you two like to sit down?" you asked kindly. "I don't mind a little company."

It was obvious they were amazed by the outside, sat on the floor (after trying the chairs and not fitting)on the side of the window opposite to you, staring out in wonder. Even when sitting on the ground they were slightly taller than you.

You shared a few words before returning to your weed, mildly noticing their attention now on you as you reached for pipe and lighter.

"Is it good?" asked Sun, and you looked at him curiously. You knew about the update as much as the other mechanics, and it amazed you how complex Fazbear made their bots these days. The entertainers at Baby's weren't nearly this advanced.

You shrugged. "It's not, like, a good taste, but I don't hate it." You looked down at it, then back up at the two of them. That lovely little puzzle in your high mind was put together again and you grinned.

"Do you want to try it?" you asked, holding your pipe up. Sun looked at it with wide eyes, throwing a glance to the side at Moon before both of them nodded.

And, like magic, your night just got a lot more interesting.

"Okay, so I'm gonna explain a few things first." You picked up the bag. "So it's just a plant that, like, anyone can grow normally. It's harvested for these little guys-" you pulled a single green nug out, a little smaller than your thumb, "- which is basically the flower part of the plant. Sometimes they trim the leaves and stuff off, but besides that you get it just like that."

They gave you their full attention as you picked up the shiny metal container. "This is a grinder- it holds the weed but it's also a tool for breaking it up and making it easier to use." You opened the top of it, showing them the teeth before breaking up the piece in your hands, narrating as you worked "You just fill it, put the lid on, twist it for a reeeally long time, and-" with a flourish, you opened the middle to show them the soft, freshly ground plant matter.

The Moon slowly reached a hand, pinching a small amount between thumb and pointer finger to feel it. His face showed slight fascination as he let it sprinkle back into the bowl.

"The rest is easy. You use a device, like this pipe," you set down the grinder, picking up your pipe, "and just fill it with the marijuana before setting her on fire and breathing her in," you chuckled. With a flourish, you pulled out your lighter, and they watched as you lit the bowl, pulling smoke down your throat before leaning back. You held it just for a second, savoring the burn and the taste as the two robots watched, before leaning forwards slightly to exhale in the direction of the window.

You cleared your throat before turning to them. "Um, I don't know how you two can do it yourself without lips, but I know a way." Looking down at the pipe, there was enough for one more hit. "I can... blow it in your mouth... direction, I guess?" you suggested.

Sun tilted his head slightly. "Can I go first?"

Shrugging, you smiled. "Sure." You used the end of your lighter to push around the remaining green in your bowl before looking back up at him. "Just breath in when I, like, blow it at you, okay?"

He nodded, leaning in slightly as you sparked the lighter and torched the bowl. The last of the weed burned to a dark grey, slightly white at the tips, as it filled your lungs with heat. Pipe and lighter set aside, you swallowed the slight embarrassment as you tipped your lips close to his, eyes almost fixed on each other as smoke spread from you to him. You could see the texture of the plate of his face- like foam and silicone, form-keeping yet soft to the touch.

His eyelids were quick to flutter closed as the last of the smoke left your lips. His torso swayed slightly as he took it in, before shaking his head and opening his eyes. They were noticeably brighter, shining under the slightest hint of his eyelids. You pointed towards the window, "Blow it that way," and he leaned towards it before exhaling the smoke out from between his teeth hesitantly.

He sat back, motionless for a second, before blinking a few times and shaking his head again. "...wowzers," he said simply, pulling a snicker out of you. You had no idea how marijuana would affect them, but it was going to be entertaining.

"So you're gonna feel a little... silly," you explained. "Marijuana makes things more fuzzy and interesting- everything's funnier and prettier, and the world feels a little wobbly. But you'll be okay- just enjoy yourself."

He hummed dreamily, eyes more heavily lidded as he slowly swayed from side to side. You looked to Moon. "Do you wanna try it, too?"

He nodded slowly, and you went to work loading another bowl. You shifted a little closer, beckoning him to lean down. "Ready?" You asked, and sparked up when he simply leaned in closer. He inhaled it quicker than Sun, eyes staying open as he took in the new feeling. Moon stayed motionless for a second after you pulled back, processing, before a shudder worked its way up his body.

Despite his eyes being lidded similarly to his twin's as he leaned to the side he kept eye contact with you, bright and burning, smoke slipping from between his teeth and into the night's air.
