If I haven’t responded to a comment, sorry? I’ve been busy for the past few days.

Chapter Text

“You’re…not coming with us?”

Marinette was heartbroken and Jon’s saddened expression did nothing to lessen the feelings. She just wanted to be by his side. She understood the agreement that was made; he’d come to Paris and scope out the situation with Hawkmoth and would stay in America after the trip which had been predetermined to have already been in America (though where exactly had been a surprise).

“I wish I could, Mari. You know this. I’d follow you to the ends of the earth.”

Marinette’s heart fluttered and she felt the urge to just jump up and hug him. But she couldn’t. Not with the stitches needing to still be kept together and not with the crutch she was relying far too heavily on.

Instead, she grinned which she hoped was a good way to show her appreciation even for such a small comment. This was new to her. The whole romance thing. She had virtually no experience except for her embarrassing crush on Adrien and her short-lived relationship with Luka.

This was one heck of an odd experience for her.

“Thank you, Jon. Just…promise you’ll call?”

Marinette would have shifted from foot to foot in anticipation but seeing as that would just make her muscles red and angry, she didn’t. She did however briefly entertain the thought.

“Of course. Every day if you want me to.”

She breathed a sigh of relief. Whatever she did to deserve someone like Jon, she had no idea. She wasn’t sure when her feelings had gone from an average crush to being head over heels in love but she wasn’t going to complain. Not unless Jon was. And he wouldn’t-

“Hey, hey. Calm down. It’ll be good.”

Marinette took a few calming breaths and held out her pinky. “Promise?”

Jon smiled softly down at her and intertwined both of their smallest fingers together. Everyone knows that it was the most sacred of promises that could ever be made.

“I promise.”

“And wherever I go, you’ll follow?”

She just needed another confirmation. Just to ease her nerves a bit more. Besides, she liked hearing that.

“Mari, I’ll be the one taking you to every place you can imagine. I can show you the world. Remember?”

Marinette blushed bashfully under his gaze and looked down at her feet to remove some of the embarrassment that prominently shone on her burning face. She was not expecting that answer. But she would be lying if she said she didn’t look forward to a future as wonderful as that.

“Oh yeah, I remember.”

Okay listen, it’s sometimes difficult to remember that some people are either not human or are metahumans. Especially when they’re more common in America and she’s been in Paris for over three years at that point.

“Marinette!” Her teacher called. She was really getting Marinette’s nerves. She really needed to get that unfit teacher fired or at least taught how to be better at her job.

Still though, they were supposed to be boarding the plane back to Paris. Marinette looked up to bid a farewell to Jon, pausing when she noticed the cold glares he was sending to her class who shrunk out and away from his line of sight.

“I’ll…Just text me when you get back to the bakery, yeah?”

Marinette nodded and hummed in agreement.

“Only if you can keep Damian and Dad in line. I get the feeling that in my absence they’re going to tear something down from its hinges.”

Jon laughed heartily, bending over and clutching his stomach as he did so. He stood back up and wiped a stray tear from his eyes.

“Only if you can promise to keep your class in line. Make sure they aren’t bothering you or anyone else again.” Jon was sending more glares towards their class, her class now that he was officially unenrolled.

“Jon, they’re better. They apolo-”

“I know, I know. They apologized. But only after you were seriously hurt and could’ve died. We all agreed we weren’t too keen on forgiving them yet.”

Marinette’s shoulder dropped dejectedly. She understood, she did, but she loves her class to bits. But she also loves Jon. She was likely being too nice to her class, at least according to Damian and Jason she was. Maybe they were right. She worried her bottom lip in thought.

“Marinette!” Her teacher called again. So now she was worried about her students? Wow.

Still though, Marinette flinched. Madame Bustier sounded really rushed at this point. She really needed to go. Now.

She turned to leave, pressing a feather-light kiss to Jon’s jaw (because she was too short to reach his cheek).

One second, she had turned to leave, and the next, Jon was holding her close to his chest protectively, lips on hers longingly. He didn’t want her to go. Truthfully, she didn’t want to leave him or the rest of her family either.

Warmth flooded her mind and she grinned, pressing her lips against his with what she hoped was an equal amount of passion before pulling back and grinning shyly, moving a strand of hair away from her eyes.

She left for the boarding section before her face could somehow discover a new shade of red before burying her head in her hands.

Oh, Kwami!

Alya and her brothers are going to kill her. Or him.

For Kwami’s sake, she just kissed Jon Kent!

This was mostly just filler but still decently important. No, I will not be explaining. Suffer along with me.

Anyways, constructive criticism is always appreciated! :)
