Chapter Text
Moonwatcher was huddled under her mothers wing while she watched all the dragons from all different tribes arrive at the academy. “Why mother, why do I have to go” Moon complained as her mother was fiddling with something under her talons. Her mother turned her head to Moon and said “I know you don’t want to go but you'll never come out of your comfort zone if you don't”. Moon knew her mother was right and she couldn't fight it so she just sat there as she watched all the dragons come to the academy. Her mother tapped her shoulder, she looked at her mother, her mother then said “now i know we haven't had a talk about your animus magic or mind reading powers”.
Moon looked back to the ground and nodded, “well we don’t know how to cancel your mind reading, but how about your animus magic” her mother said, giving something to Moon. The thing that was given to her was a copper brace, it had a funky swirl design carved into it but it had a small emerald embedded into it. The brace had a clamp that looked hard to use but it had a mechanism that made the brace warble as she got bigger and older. Moon liked it, she took it out of her mothers talons and figured out quite easily how it worked, she clamped the brace on her right arm. She wiggled her arm and the brace started in place giving her little to no discomfort in her arm.
“So what is it for” Moon asked her mother, “it was a gift from Stonmover when he first enchanted you, he said it can cancel out your animus powers completely when you're wearing it”. Moon looked at the copper brace, it was not oxidizing so she had to guess that it was enchanted to not do that, it was a nice touch but not needed. Her mother stopped her thoughts when she said “so do you want to go in or wait a little bit more”, “no i wanna watch a little more” Moon answered. “Alright” her mother replied, Moon turned her attention back to the copper brace, she had to admit that the brace was beautiful. Moon looked back up and saw some Icewings arrive, soon some rainwings and many other species, I hope all these other dragons will like her, Moon heard her mother think.
Moon could read minds, and yes she could get overwhelmed and she hated it sometimes how the minds of other dragons would just scream out at her. She managed to deal with it but sometimes it's all just too much for her, but some are just able to shield their thoughts from her. Glory is a perfect example, she’s always had this vibe of strange out in her, Moon didn’t mind that but it’s strange how she’s able to do that. Yet her mother can’t shield her thoughts, she could everything but never complained to her mother about that. “Moon look” her mother said pointing into the sky, Moon looked up squinting, seawings it looked like, there were three it looked like.
“Those are seawings” her mother said, “i think that's the queen and her daughters” her mother also said. The queen of the seawings has come here, well Moon guessed that she was dropping her daughters off, but Moon noticed another seawing. She couldn't make it out but she knew enough that was another seawing, they were green like the queen's smaller daughter. When they landed, Moon was startled by a voice running out of the cave saying “YOU CAME”, the voice belonged to a big deep blue seawing. Of course it belonged to Tsunami, Moon would have got a chance to meet her but she flew off to help with the academy, Moon doesn't blame her though.
Moon’s attention was now on the bigger green seawing, it looked to a male but his mind, she couldn't read it for some reason. The only thing she heard was a soft continuing hum coming from his mind, it left nice rather than the harsh vibe of STAY OUT OF MY MIND from glory. But besides that, it was weird, she knew it was to do that but it looked from the seawings perspective that he wasn’t affected at all. Moon stopped thinking and listened to their conversation, the green seawing said Turtle so she guessed that was his name. “One of my brothers” tsunami said, she then rambled about a… orca statue? destroying the queen's female eggs, Moon never knew about though.
“There's about thirty of us,” Turtle said, Tsunami then blurted very loudly “THERE'S THIRTY OF YOU” Moon was startled once more by Tsunami’s loud voice. Moon's mother wasn’t faced by it though, maybe the volcano that her mother talked about once was the culprit of her dense hearing. “Thirty two to be exact” Turtle corrected his bigger sister, Tsunami was now questioning her mother about why she never said anything about her brothers. The arguing eventually stopped and the Seawing queen let one of her daughters enter, the younger Auklet stayed with her protective mother. Moon watched as the seawing family entered the academy but Turtle stayed behind and looked at her for a moment.
Then Moon felt a little dizzy, then her vision was replaced by a bright screen of a calm ocean, it was a barely windy day but something was off. The sand looked damp and the water looked stirred up, most importantly it looked to be Turtle but he was pinning his sister Anemone to the ground. But as soon as the vision of the two siblings invaded Moon's vision it… faded. Moon was still disorientated, she shook her head to get rid of the dizziness in her head. Her mother looked at her and said “another vision”, “yea” Moon said while nodding her head, her mother knew about her vision but never knew what to expect from her visions.
Moon looked back up to Turtle, but he and his family were gone.
