Chapter Text
Tommy was considering lighting a match and burning the whole damn café down.
The shift had started awfully after Tommy had run into the café fifteen minutes late and a very angry early shift worker glaring at him. It got worse after he clocked in and was told he would be working alone for most of the day because Ranboo only took the evening shift and no one else was available to work.
He had six fucking Karens within the first two hours.
The one in front of him made it seven.
Ranboo’s masked face greeted him as he glared at him from across the room.
“Why are you glaring at me?” Ranboo asked innocently.
“What the fuck was the abomination you sent me a picture of 30 minutes ago?” Earlier, when Tommy was so much nicer and more naïve, he was browsing his phone during a lull in customers when he received the worst text message he had ever received.
“What was wrong with it?” Ranboo asked, even though he was wearing a mask Tommy could tell the fucker was smiling under it.
“WHO THE FUCK PUT SPAGHETTI IN COFFEE, RANBOO?” Tommy shouts, overcome by disgust at being in front of him.
“IT’S GOOD!”
“NO THE FUCK IT’S NOT”
“You put ketchup on eggs you can’t say anything.” Ranboo argues.
That’s it, Tommy’s burning this place to the fucking ground.
“I’m going to kil-” Tommy is interrupted by the bell ringing, and he glances at the door finding a young pair walking toward him. He mentally turns on his customer service voice.
“Hello, welcome to the Morning Cup, what would you like to order?”
“M-may I-I get um a mint mocha tea, please?”
Tommy nods as he puts in the girl’s order.
“And may I get a hot chocolate, please?”
Tommy quickly puts in the boy’s order, before giving them their total.
The boy nods before handing over a credit card and dropping a five in the tip jar. Tommy scans the card before handing it back and asking for a name and writing it on the side of the cup.
Ranboo starts making the drinks and Tommy glares at him for as long as he can before he has to help more customers.
The rest of the shift speeds by in a blur of iced coffees and angry customers. Ranboo ends up leaving early to study for his classes which leaves Tommy alone to close. Which is fine, he’s done it before plenty of times.
While going through the standard closing routine the bell at the front dings, and for a moment Tommy almost yells out about being closed until he hears Wilbur’s sing-songy voice call across the café
“Is there a Gremlin by the name of Tommy in here?”
“FUCK YOU, BITCH BOY!” Tommy calls peaking his head up for underneath the countertops where he was re-arranging the sweets in the cabinet.
Wilbur smiled, “There he is,” Wilbur said before jumping over the counter and walking over to where Tommy was currently situated.
“Hullo,” Techno said, staying where he was sitting and flipping a page in a book he was reading.
“Do you need any help, Tommy?” Wilbur asks, watching what Tommy was doing.
“No, I got it, I’m basically done anyway.”
“Is there anything else you need help with then?” Wilbur asks glancing around the café.
“Nope,” Tommy said popping the ‘p’, “I just finished.”
Tommy stood up from where he was crouching narrowly avoiding hitting his head on the underside of the counter.
Wilbur on the other hand was not so lucky, because when he tried to stand up, he hit his head on the edge of the counter.
“I- fucking ow,” Wilbur said rubbing the top of his head. Tommy attempted to hold back laughter with no success.
“Hey! Don’t laugh at me!” Wilbur said, which just made Tommy laugh even harder.
“Wilbur, don’t be a moron,” Techno calls from his seat, not even looking up from his book.
Wilbur sputters for a moment, while Tommy attempts to regain his composure. Eventually, Tommy manages to stop himself from laughing while Wilbur glares daggers in his direction.
“Where do you want to go, Tommy” Wilbur asks.
Oh yeah, fuck, Wilbur was here to hang out, Tommy kind of forgot about that. Tommy didn’t know what to think, he had never hung out with Wilbur and Techno before. They were friends, he knew that, it was just odd to think of them inviting him anywhere.
“I don’t know, I don’t go many places,” Tommy confesses, which is true.
“Why don’t we show him somewhere, Wilbur?” Techno asks closing his book and standing up.
“Oh yeah, Tommy we’ll surprise you!” Wilbur says, and there’s a slight hint of mischief in his voice.
Against his better judgment, Tommy agrees and judging by the look on Wilbur’s face, Tommy thinks he’s made a mistake.
