Nijimura Keicho's Notes on How To Live a Normal Life

Chapter 8: Keicho Tries To Take Coffee More Seriously (Single Cup Filter)

Summary:

Why should I take coffee seriously? It's just a drug. And in a sense, Josuke is on drugs, too. I hate him so much—he's a bad influence. I refuse to let Okuyasu to meet him ever again.

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

"Freshly roasted coffee beans" mean beans that have been allowed to rest for 1–3 weeks from date of roast.

***Don't worry too much if it's past 3 weeks***

Instructions

  1. Use 25g (a good handful) of beans per 200ml of water. Grind coffee while water boils. Coffee grinds should feel like powder but still slightly gritty.
  2. Place filter cone with filter paper on top of the cup. Flush a little hot water through filter, then discard it. This gets rid of unwanted flavour from the paper filter.
  3. Put the ground coffee into the filter, then pour a little hot water onto it. (Pre-infuse*)
  4. Keep adding water into the coffee. Avoid letting the coffee grounds to compact.

*Pre-infuse: if the coffee grounds are fresh, they will make a froth. The frothing effect will be flat if they're not fresh.

End of entry.

Notes:

***NOTE TO SELF: DON'T WORRY TOO MUCH IF COFFEE GROUNDS ARE PAST THREE WEEKS***

Notes:

So this work started as a silly idea I shared with Miima (chococostrawberry on Tumblr). The idea then spiralled into the concept of a collection of notes, including tutorials, recipes, advice, recommendations, and other random stuff. Though I admit: I kind of wrote this for myself, too, since I like taking notes on the most random things.

Hope anyone who reads this have a nice day, and sending you lots of love!
