Chapter Text
Bang.
Tony pants heavily as he sees the bullet hit the wall behind Peter instead of straight through his skull.
Holy shit his kid almost died—
Blasting his repulsor again, Garrison goes flying backwards into one of the pillars littered around the room, head banging violently on the concrete in a sickening manner.
But Tony doesn’t care because his son is staring at him with watery eyes and so much hope that he feels like he’s going to cry or throw up.
“D-Dad?” Peter’s lip is trembling and more tears stream down his face.
Tony deactivated the watch, rushing behind the chair to undo the ropes keeping his kid tied down. As soon as they’re off, Peter’s flinging himself into his arms sobbing violently.
His entire body is shaking, and when Tony hugs him back he can see his own pale hands trembling in those curly locks.
Tony almost lost him. He was almost too late.
Peter’s hugging him so hard that he feels like he might pop one of his organs, and it’s probably not good for his kid’s injuries either but he can’t think of anything more than the repeating chant of he’s alive he’s alive he’s alive—
“Shhh, you’re okay, Roo. I’ve got you.” Tony coos into his hair, gentle and reassuring, untangling the knots caused by the passed out dickwad.
He’s got his kid. His son is safe.
Even if Peter’s screams will live in his nightmares, he’s alive.
Tony can live with that.
