Chapter Text
Reki woke to an alarm blaring beside him. “Shit.”
He reached to turn it off and only succeeded in pushing his phone onto the floor, where it stubbornly continued to make noise, waking Langa up. “Sorry,” he said, finally managing to silence it. He looked over to Langa who was halfway between sleeping and wakefulness.
“Rekiii, it's Saturday, why’s your stupid alarm on?”
“I guess I forgot to turn it off, sorry, but you can go back to sleep.”
“Well you were my pillow, so get back over here.” Langa sleepily demanded.
A smile appeared on Reki’s face as he took in the beautiful sight before him, a sleepy Langa with his hair all messed up from his sleep, which was apparently very deep considering the disoriented look on his face.
“If you insist.” Reki said as he crawled back under the covers, letting Langa get adjusted comfortably. Reki was fully awake, but he loved just laying there as Langa drifted back into peaceful sleep. He was so warm and soft, Reki just cuddled him even closer and placed a kiss onto the sleeping boy’s forehead.
Reki’s alarm had gone off at 6:30, and almost an hour later was when Langa fully woke up. “Mm, g’morning Reki.” He stretched his limbs out and Reki couldn’t help but be reminded of a cat.
“Look who finally decided to wake up.” Reki said playfully.
“It’s not my fault that somebody's snoring kept me up!”
“So what you’re saying is you don’t want my kisses?”
“No, dummy, c'mere."
He leaned down and placed his lips over Langa's. He sighed into the kiss, giving up control of his muscles as he sank downwards.
Reki parted their mouths for a moment so he could drape his torso over Langa’s and use his arms to hold himself up before reconnecting them. Langa was almost surprised Reki was taking more control, considering yesterday the thought of Reki doing so had been nothing more than a fantasy. The more he thought about it though, Reki was much more into physical affection, and kissing was now just an adding on to that.
Langa reached up and dragged his hands through Reki’s vibrant hair, which for once, did not have his signature hairband holding it back. They continued for a while more before Reki’s arms were starting to hurt, so he carefully brought himself down fully on top of Langa.
“Am I too heavy?” He asked.
“You’re the perfect weighted blanket.” He wrapped his hands around Reki’s back and squeezed gently, rubbing his thumbs back and forth.
They had only been cuddling for a few moments when Langa’s stomach let forth an urgent growl.
“I guess we should go get breakfast then.” Reki suggested with a slight chuckle.
Langa’s mother had a late shift the previous night so they had been alone in the apartment, but she was in the kitchen when they emerged in the morning.
Nanako was making some food, and when she turned around to them, she had only expected to see her son. “Good morning Reki, it’s a nice surprise to see you.”
“I can leave if you want, sorry I didn’t tell you I’d be staying over.”
“Oh, don’t worry, you’re always welcome here, now come have some breakfast.”
Nanako told Reki that he wasn’t allowed to help set the table since he was their guest. With only the Hasegawas in the kitchen, she could ask her son a question that had been on her mind.
“Langa, I know he was the person you had a disagreement with, but are you guys okay now?”
Langa had told his mother his true feelings towards Reki when she had told him to "show her she's a lucky girl."
He then realized that he and Reki had not yet had a conversation about what they were going to say to others about the new status of their relationship. Since they had not, Langa decided to stick to the safer option.
"Yeah, we're back to being friends now."
His mother paused for a moment, considering her words before saying, "And…you're okay with that?"
"Of course."
As Reki sat down at the table, he caught sight of a photo, with both of Langa’s parents and a much younger Langa.
“Oh my god! You were so cute dude. Look at those squishy cheeks!”
Reki's words caused Langa to turn red and Nanako to smile to herself in the kitchen.
As they all began eating, Langa's mother began to worry. Gosh, this is the first time I'm meeting Langa's friend! Does the food taste alright? I need to make a good first impression. Quick, think of something to say!
"So, how did the two of you meet?"
Reki was happy to talk about it, that one moment and all the others after it with Langa had caused his life to dramatically change for the better. "He grabbed my board when it was rolling away from me, and I started to teach him how to skateboard, but it turned out he already had crazy skills from snowboarding."
The conversation was easier from there, mostly just Reki and Nanako talking, but Langa occasionally chimed in. She was amazed to see in person how well the boys suit each other and make eachother happy; she could see how much they truly love each other.
As soon as Langa excused himself and went to the bathroom and it was just the two of them at the table, Nanako turned to Reki with a serious yet happy expression.
"Thank you for being such a good friend to my son." She hugged him for a moment before releasing him.
"Thanks for having such an awesome son." He replied, immediately cursing himself for how stupid that sounded. "Sorry, that came out weird."
When Langa re-emerged, she glanced at her watch before sighing. “Alright, I have to leave again, Langa, if you could just clear the table, I’ll take care of the rest when I get back, okay?”
Once he did as instructed, they went back into Langa’s bedroom, Reki running past Langa to flop onto his bed first.
“Langa come cuddle with meeeeee.” Reki held his arms out for Langa to hug him, to which the blue haired boy happily obliged.
Langa was still thinking about his conversation with his mom though. "I know this is soon, but how do you feel about telling other people about us? My mom asked earlier and I said we were just friends in case you didn't want her to know."
“I want to tell people, ‘cause you make me really happy and I want them to know you’re my boyfriend. But is it bad if there’s a part of me that reeealy doesn’t want to tell our parents? They’re probably going to ban sleepovers and start having stupid rules,” he buried his face in the front of Langa’s sweatshirt, “I really like spending time with you like this and I don’t want them to ruin it, y’know?”
“So you want to keep it a secret?” Langa asked.
“No? Okay, how about let’s start with our close S group, and see how that goes, and when you want to, we can tell our moms?”
“Yeah, that sounds good.”
“Plus it can’t go that badly, ‘cause it’s not like they’ll be homophobic, I mean, Joe and Cherry are so obviously together.” Reki pointed out.
“Well, it’s going to have to be sooner rather than later; neither of us can lie for shit.”
They were at Reki’s, and after entertaining the twins for a bit, they were left alone. Langa sighed when the girls left, “They’re cute, but I don’t think I have the energy to have siblings, I’m glad I was an only child.”
Langa sat cross legged on Reki’s bed while the redhead was frantically searching for a skateboarding magazine he swore was “just right here yesterday.” He was looking around the room, so full of life, if a little cluttered. The next thing he knew, Reki’s head had come to rest in Langa’s lap as he was holding up the magazine he had finally found.
“So I was thinking that for this newest board, I could have these kind of trucks with these wheels–”
He abruptly stopped talking as he felt Langa’s fingers run through his hair, a subtle shiver going through him.
“Sorry,” Langa said guiltily, “you can keep going.” He moved his hands to place them flat on the bed instead.
Reki had a slight scowl as he grabbed one of Langa’s hands and placed it back on his head again, then went back to smiling when Langa resumed stroking his hair. With how big Reki was on physical affection, Langa usually found himself on the receiving end of many hugs, kisses, and other things like this. To be the one giving it was a very nice thing in itself though.
Two weeks later, it was raining much more heavily than before, but this time, instead of it bringing back memories of their fight in the rain, Reki and Langa thought about the night of their first kiss.
They were getting their homework done, Langa doing math and Reki struggling through English.
"Uh! This is too hard." Reki said, frustrated he was spending his time with this instead of skateboarding.
"Reki, it's not that hard." Langa looked up from his now finished page.
"Easy for you to say, Mr. Bilingual! I have no motivation right now and I just wanna give up and move on."
Langa scored closer to where Rek was sitting on the redhead’s bed.
"How about no more kisses until it’s done?”
“...Oh fine, but you have to help me.”
Hearing Langa flawlessly say full paragraphs in English made Reki smile. Yet another thing Langa is awesome at, he thought. But he wasn’t bitter and jealous this time, just awed at his amazing boyfriend. Then Langa stopped talking, finished with the page, and Reki realized he hadn’t even been trying to understand the English. In response to Langa’s expression, he stuck out his tongue. “Oh what, am I not allowed to get distracted by your pretty face?” Reki said.
Langa smiled before slowly leaning forward, his forehead lightly bumping Reki’s. He got even closer before his lips moved and- “Remember what I said, no more kisses until you’re finished.”
Reki’s face lit up with embarrassment. “Wha- dude! You can’t just tease me like that, get over here!” He tackled Langa playfully to the bed and began leaving sloppy kisses all over his face, neck, and hands, all while Langa was laughing in delight, getting the exact reaction from Reki he had hoped to. “Can I have a proper kiss Reki, my love?”
Reki’s smile got impossibly wider, his cheeks not a lovely pink hue. Instead of a kiss, Langa got a crushing hug as Reki flopped onto him. Langa was extremely happy until he saw Reki looking at him with his eyes watering. “Reki, are you okay, I’m so sorry I said that, if I made you uncomfortable–”
“Langa, I love you so much.” As he finally leaned down and kissed Langa fully on the lips, Reki absolutely melted. Langa’s lips were so soft and he couldn’t resist the impulse to run his tongue across one. Langa gasped, but only leaned farther into Reki, so he continued.
Langa reached up and threaded his fingers into Reki’s thick hair, rubbing his fingers against his scalp. All Reki’s thoughts had faded away and were replaced by nothing but the way Langa felt against him, his lips and the hands in his hair, down to where their legs were brushing together.
Langa was elated, the little adorable sounds Reki was making went straight to his heart. He was eventually forced to shift his head to the side to part from Reki and inhale some much needed air. He grinned as Reki attempted to latch onto his lips again, but his lungs demanded more air as well.
They took a few moments to breathe and cool off.
A little while later, Reki and Langa heard the sound of rain pouring on the roof and went to look outside. When they saw how hard it was already coming down, Reki got an idea.
“Langa, c’mon.”
He grabbed his hand and led him to the front door to quickly shove on their shoes. Then Reki ran outside with Langa following close behind him. It was almost slightly too cold out, (at least to Reki), but very refreshing. Once they reached a spot that wasn’t very visible to anyone else, Reki pulled him into a kiss. Langa smiled into it as he wrapped his arms around the other boy, pulling him even closer.
As they rested their foreheads against each other’s, Langa murmured, “Man I love the rain.”
