Chapter Text
"You absolute nerd."
Sabrina wanted to slam her head into the steering wheel. It had only been two hours since Puck invaded her solo trip, and he hasn't stopped criticizing the idea, especially when she admitted that she was interested in the historical aspect of it. To make matters worse, there had been an accident on the highway she needed to take, which caused bumper to bumper traffic that didn't seem interested in moving anytime soon. The number of drivers on the road was astonishing in itself, but the majority of them were large trucks or 18 wheelers, which did not do her anxiety any favors.
"At least I had a plan other than 'fight any cryptid I run into for money'." she retorted. Puck huffed indignantly.
"At least my plan didn't involve just up and leaving a family that loves me." he muttered. Sabrina's blood ran cold, and a humorless laugh forced its way out of her throat.
"So ghosting me and Daphne doesn't count, huh?" she snapped. "You and Jake are total hypocrites, you know that? What the hell gives you the right to tell me I'm wrong for leaving when you did the same fucking thing?" her eyes burned. The silence was deafening, suffocating even. Sabrina couldn't breathe. Puck was speechless, looking at her with wide eyes.
"'Brina..." his voice was barely audible. Traffic had begun to move again, and Sabrina put on a random playlist and turned it up, hoping to drown out whatever he was going to say next. This, however, was a mistake. The playlist she had turned on happened to be one that he had made, and she hadn't gotten around to deleting it.
To put it simply, it was a meme playlist.
At the very least, Sabrina's short outburst was quickly forgotten as Puck's eyes lit up and he began to loudly sing along with the Sonic X theme song. The simple absurdity of it all coaxed a laugh from Sabrina. Once it finished Puck pause the playlist.
"I can't believe you still have that." he said, his cheeks rosy from laughing. Sabrina slumped again. There was so much she wanted to say, ranging from "why did you stop calling?" to "You're a moron, you know that?" and even "what did I do wrong? Why did you leave?" In the end, she just smiled weakly and made a quip about how it reminded her of him.
Puck paused, a small frown creasing his face. "I didn't mean to blow you off," he began. "Thing's just got busy, you know?" a devilish grin formed on his lips. "If I'd known you missed me so much, I would've graced you with my presence more often."
Sabrina was taken aback. This cocky motherfucker.
"Will you please shut up?" she hissed through gritted teeth. Puck just cackled.
Sabrina really did slam her head against the steering wheel that time.
