Chapter Text

Felix fought every urge in his body to just put his head back on the train seat and sleep. He didn’t have time for that, despite how tired he was. Across from him, Kagami and Claude each had a headphone in and were listening to a movie on her computer. Felix turned back to his own computer and scrolled down.

Our beloved hero, Ladybug, has mysteriously disappeared.

Felix fought another urge to roll his eyes and mutter ‘no shit, Sherlock’. Nevertheless, he kept reading up on everything that everyone knew about what happened.

No one knows the details of what happened. On the evening she was last seen, Adrien Agreste’s fiancee, Marinette Dupain-Cheng, was transported to emergency care by Chat Noir himself. No further details were available.

Felix already knew Marinette was Ladybug and Adrien was Chat Noir. He hadn’t known that Ladybug had been seen the day Marinette died, meaning Tikki had been with her at the time. Meaning whoever had the miraculous had probably seen Marinette the day of her death, and it wasn’t Adrien, and probably wasn’t Luka.

Unfortunately, the new hero hadn’t shown their face yet, so Felix had no basis of their age, gender, height, or basic information. Not that the miraculous couldn’t change all of that, but nonetheless, it likely would have helped.

He sighed, pinching his nose as he looked out the train window.

“Are you okay?” Felix turned back with a start and found Kagami staring at him intently, earbud in her hand. Her black studded earrings sparkled from behind her hair. Felix wasn’t sure why he noticed that.

“Fine,” he waved her off, “just tired, I suppose.”

“We did get up early.” She nodded in understanding. “Take a nap.”

He shook his head. “I don’t like trains much, I doubt I’d be able to.”

“Fair point.” She shrugged, putting her earbud back in and turning back to the laptop. She bit her lip in thought for a moment and turned back to him. “Are you sure moving is a good idea?”

“It’s only temporary,” Felix assured. “I think it’s for the best, Adrien needs more people around him right now.”

“But is it what we need?” She countered. “We have a lot going on.”

“I know.” Felix sighed. “I don’t know the answer to that though, it’s a difficult place to be in. Perhaps we just need to hope for the best and see how things play out.”

She looked hesitant for a moment, likely wanting to say something while knowing it was the wrong time to bring it up. She turned back to the computer resignedly, leaving Felix alone with his thoughts.

Stupid thoughts.

Felix looked down at Claude, his head resting on Kagami’s shoulder, both sound asleep. He reached down to shake them gently awake.

“Wake up, boy.” The deep grunting voice said, shaking Felix from his sleep. He looked up at his mum as she lifted her head off of his, blinking away the sleep in her eyes. “What do you think yer doin’, sleepin’ on a train?” Colt snapped.

“Colt, he’s a child, he can sleep.” Amelie argued gently, her British accent contrasting his Southern drawl.

“You keep goin’ and coddlin’ the boy and he’s gonna be some sissy. Get up, boy. Grab your bags.” Colt hissed, grabbing Felix’s shoulder hard and pulling him off his seat.

Felix pulled his hand away from Claude and instead swept some hair out of Kagami’s face, effectively waking her up gently.

“Felix? A-are we there?” She asked groggily.

“Yeah.” Felix smiled a little bit. “Could you wake up Claude? I’ll get the bags.” He whispered, standing back up straightly.

“I’ve got it.”

“He could be at the train station within the next twenty minutes, I want you to go pick them up, understood?” Adrien looked up from his desk to meet Luka’s sapphire eyes and watched as his assistant’s expression darkened.

“I can’t believe you’re going to use them like this. They’re your family. Our friends.” Luka narrowed his eyes as he stepped closer.

“No. They’re mere pieces in the grand scheme of time, pawns for me to play the right way to get what I want.” Adrien said satisfactorily before breaking into a grin. “But if that’s too philosophical, I have everything going exactly as I want it to. Felix’s assistance will be vital to finding Tikki and bringing back my lady.” Luka opened his mouth to respond but Adrien kept going. “Believe me, I know what I’m doing.”

“And what about Kagami and Claude? They have nothing to do with this.”

“Kagami can hold her own, and I wouldn’t hurt her. She knows better than to interfere.” Adrien waved it off dismissively. “And Claude’s just someone they’re taking care of, he’s not my concern.”

Luka made a face like he’d eaten something bitter. “How dare you?”

“Don’t get all defensive, you want her too. And nothing, Luka, nothing will keep me from getting her back. She’s my everything, what about that do you not understand?”

Luka grit his teeth angrily, grabbing Adrien’s tie and slamming his free fist against the desk in one swift movement. “ Wake up, Adrien! What are you doing !? Have you forgotten everything you worked for? Everything she worked for? To stop your father from doing what you’re doing right now?!? ” Adrien simply smiled at him, a cruel new glint in his eyes.

“Oh, Luka… I know you won’t betray me. You’re far too kind. And you love her far too much.” Luka’s eyes widened and the strong grip loosened on Adrien’s tie. Adrien smirked and dusted himself off. “I need my cousin and his sentimonsters, it worked well enough for Father, and it’ll work even better for me.”

“How do you know that?” Luka asked incredulously.

“Because it has to.” Adrien smiled. “I need it to. Now, go to the train station. Make sure my cousin feels… welcomed.

Kagami was the one who pointed out Luka’s face in the crowd. She stopped in her tracks and pointed, suddenly enough for Claude to walk into her when she stopped. Felix smiled and ruffled Claude’s hair as he looked where Kagami had pointed.

Sure enough, there was Luka.

Claude held his nose where he’d rammed into the back of her head but followed Felix’s gaze, tilting his head when he recognized Luka.

“Hey, Kagami, Felix.” Luka grinned, half-hugging them both. “Been a while, Claude. I thought you were smaller.” He added.

“I thought you were taller.” Claude replied with a playful smile. “Good to see you too.” He added, but his eyes weren’t on Luka. They were scanning the crowd. “Could Uncle Adrien not make it?” He asked. Felix's face fell and he didn’t miss Luka’s do the same.

“No, he told me to make sure you all feel welcomed.” The blue-haired man replied, forcing a smile. “Come on, I’ll drive you to the manor.”
