His eyes open, coming to, as the marines were already putting seastone on Doflamingo to take him straight to Impel Down. The people were all hugging and cheering on the pirates as the rightful king bowed down in respect for Luffy and the others.
The cheers were loud, the sky a bright blue as happiness and warmth filled the entire island. As if it was all just a bad dream and they were all able to wake up and continue with a new day. Yes, this is what freedom felt like. With the heavy weight lifting from your shoulders and being surrounded by loved ones.
It was a feeling that Law found he could enjoy getting used to…
“Cora-san…” Law breathed out as he did it.
He not only fulfilled Corazon’s dream but he was finally able to show his true appreciation for everything the alpha did for him.
“Thank you.”
‘Thank you for the life you’ve given me, for saving me.’
As he’s glad that he didn’t end his life back when he was dying of his disease. That Corazon raised him with such love and care. As he gave him hope while telling him about the stories of mates and love.
He was right…love was truly a powerful weapon.
“You did it, babe. He’s definitely proud of you,” Kid’s voice rings out softly in his ear.
Law reacts to it, lifting his head to take in Kid holding him close.
Oh, so that’s why he felt so warm and safe. Why his smile was growing despite the haze of his heat.
“Eustass-ya…” Law lets out happily as he lifts his hand to brush along the alpha’s face while pressing kisses along his jawline.
Kid chuckles lightly, going off into their own little world as the alpha holds the omega with such care,
“You can feel it, can’t you? Our forever bond,” Kid states happily as they both can.
The inseparable connection that is not only powerful but extremely rare. A blessing and a taste of paradise when it’s with the one you love.
Your soulmate
And now the two can feel the other no matter where they go. They can feel their heart beating, their emotions and feelings as the two’s souls have been intertwined into one.
Though, it is still new and fresh so obtaining the other perks of it might take some time. But the two have all the time in the world now since Law was completely free.
“I love you,” Law says as he pulls back to look him right in the eye.
Shocking Kid as he wasn’t expecting him to say it at this moment. As it affects him any time he’ll say it.
“I love you too,” Kid breathed out as it felt so right.
As he can’t stop the dorky grin from forming and Law matches it, nuzzling close as he leans their foreheads together.
“Now that you’re free, what’s the first thing you want to do?” Kid asks as they’re radiating off of love and happiness.
Law doesn’t even hesitate as he says, “You,” He purrs out, arms draping off of Kid’s shoulders as he suddenly wraps his legs around the alpha’s waist.
Oh yeah, Law was still in the midst of heat and it seemed the urges were growing.
Kid can definitely smell it too and smirks as he’ll be the only one to smell it now that Law wore his claim.
“Fuck, I told you I wasn’t lying that I’d start your heat by the time we kicked Doflamingo’s ass,” He gets out as he even chuckles a bit near the end because Law was being so openly affectionate.
Law lets out a sound as he becomes clingy and scent marks him by rubbing their scent glands together along their neck,
“I expect you to take full responsibility,” He commands despite being so cute right now.
As Law was totally going off his omega instincts and trying to claim the alpha right back. Even going so far as to nipping along Kid’s collarbone and up his neck.
A groan escapes him at Law being naughty, “If you don’t stop, Trafalgar, I’ll make love to you right here and now in front of everyone.”
Law moans at this, completely onboard with the idea, “Do it. Take me, Eustass-ya. Let the whole world know,” Law tells him as he leans in to capture Kid’s lips.
The kiss starts off slow before growing heated mighty fast. Killer watched nearby with a fond shake of his head, knowing this was bound to happen.
“Law needs to heal,” Chopper says before Usopp covers his eyes.
“They should stop period because they’re out in public!” Usopp exclaims.
“Trust me, there’s no stopping my captain when he’s passionate about something,” Killer says with amusement in his tone.
Especially as Law’s heat was making the alpha react more and yep, there they go, heatedly making out with people all around them. Law moaning out like no one can hear him and on his back as he keeps Kid caging him against the ground. The two not caring that there’s dried blood, dirt and debris in the way as they were ready to get this love fest going.
“I’m surprised the sedatives didn’t hold long,” Robin lets out as she continues to watch the scene unfold.
“Robin!” Nami exclaims as she’s blushing red and trying to not look.
Robin just smirks, “Forgive me, the topic of mates interests me. I even heard during one’s heat, an alpha can knot---”
Sanji lets out a noise of embarrassment that grabs their attention.
“Oi! We don’t have time right now! We need to head out, the marines are coming!” Zoro shouts as he’s seen running past them with Sanji hanging off his one shoulder exhausted.
“Mosshead, put me down! I can run myself!”
Luffy is also seen hanging off someone’s shoulder as Franky comes with Brook beside him.
“Back to the ships, guys!” He lets out despite being tired.
Even holding a thumbs up though and grinning away happily like he didn’t just exhaust himself from the fight.
The marines arriving are causing a scene as the people of Dressrosa are growing upset and more marine ships would no doubt be approaching the island soon.
It causes Law and Kid to break up their make out fest, Kid pissed that he can’t make love to Law yet.
“These pricks are gonna pay,” Kid growls out as he picks Law up with ease and uses his powers at the same time.
Law pouts, growing embarrassed as Kid just has to carry him bridal style,
“Eustass-ya, this isn’t what I want---” He starts to get onto him as he sits up and changes his position, koala hugging him instead before noticing someone from behind.
As he sees Smoker giving him a grin and holding back the group of marines for a moment. As he’s giving them all a head start.
Law smirks, his eyes shining with so much light even as it grows chaotic around them. As the pirates are all running back to the ships. The revolutionary army jumping in to help, Sabo and Ace sharing a moment,
“Get Luffy out of here!” Sabo says with a happy grin.
With Ace tipping his hat and showing off a grin of his own, “Will do! See you again, brother!”
Luffy is laughing away, his followers helping to keep him safe and sound as gunfire rings out and the marines are hot on their tail. Even at sea, there’s multiple marine ships approaching but they all continue to smile. The wind in their hair, the sun bringing warmth as it only adds to their happiness.
This was the life, this is what it was like to be a pirate. And it felt great doing it with those you love.
“Straw hat-ya,” Law calls out as Luffy looks his way and beats him to it, his expression going all dorky happy,
“It’s what nakama do.”
Luffy knew Law wanted to thank him and that he felt indebted to him. But Luffy wanted him to know he would’ve done all of this even if Law didn’t ask him to. Because that’s what nakama do. They don’t do it for something in return. They do it because it’s the right thing to do. Because you care about your loved ones.
Law grows a bit emotional and he’ll definitely blame it on his heat. But for the time being, he rests his head on Kid’s shoulder and lets the happy tears flow, smiling towards Luffy who keeps grinning and laughing,
“Let us know when you’re ready and we’ll meet up again to defeat Kaido!” Luffy says with such confidence.
Law nods, the smile remaining on his face.
“Onii-chan!” Nami calls out, grabbing his attention as she suddenly throws something his way.
Kid catches it, finding it to be a log pose of some kind with coordinates to somewhere,
“Smoker told me to give this to you and that you’d understand later.”
Hmm?
Law looked at it, wondering what it could be as everyone was reaching their ships and soon jumping on.
“Penguin!” Killer calls out as the heart pirates were happy to see their captain was alive and well, “Follow us, we’re heading out!”
Penguin nods, already moving into action as Kid and Killer hop on board their ship and the Straw hats onto theirs.
“Just sail on out, we got you!” Luffy’s followers announce as they’re on their own ships and ready to help.
The marine ships begin firing cannon balls but it’s no match for Luffy and the others. Luffy’s followers create a shield as they let the three ships sail in the center. Law watches all of this unfold, feeling such elation at still being able to do this. To be able to take all of this in and know that from here on out, it was all just for him.
And he wanted to be selfish for a while as he clings tighter to Kid, grabbing his attention.
“What is it?” Kid asks as he too is grinning from ear to ear and enjoying such a moment.
“I’m happy that I got a chance to meet you, to be with you. And I hope I get to sail the seas with you for a long time after today.”
It goes straight to Kid’s heart as he presses a kiss to Law’s forehead, nuzzling close,
“Forever,” Kid says with such promise and love.
“Even after death?” Law can’t help but ask and Kid doesn’t even hesitate,
“Always.”
Both smile before meeting halfway, the kiss holding such emotion and passion behind it. Neither bothered by all the marines shouting and the fight taking place around them. The chaos no doubt is not going to go away for as long as they live.
But they wouldn’t have it any other way.
All of them smile for Law, happy for him as Killer takes over for his captain. As Ace rides with the Straw hats as they part ways for now. But they’ll keep in touch, wanting to give Law time to deal with his heat and enjoy life before they take on Kaido. The heart pirates going under water so they can follow Kid’s pirate ship better while Luffy’s followers shout that they’ll be there for him when he calls for them.
And there they go, off to start another adventure…
Two weeks later…
The sun was just rising and Law stood on the upper deck of Kid’s ship looking out to the ocean. It’s how Kid finds him as he had woken up to find Law wasn’t there but it was to be expected for what today held. As he comes up on the upper deck to find that him and Killer were talking about something. With Law throwing in a light joke as the two have become closer just like all the heart pirates have with Kid’s crew.
Kid has a suspicious feeling they’re either talking about him or Penguin but he might not ever know. For when he approaches, the two stop talking and look at him.
“Trafalgar,” Kid greets as he kisses Law good morning.
Smiling as Law does this thing instinctively by tilting his neck to the side to show off the mating bite and it makes him elated every time.
He presses a kiss there, Law shivering lightly in his hold, “Eustass-ya, we’re not alone,” He reminds the alpha as Killer still stood nearby.
“But you were all for it before!” Kid whines and Law snorts,
“I was also in heat back then so behave,” Law says as he lightly smacks his hands from going to inappropriate places.
Kid sticks with just holding Law and pressing kisses to his shoulder, Killer sighing fondly,
“Like a trained puppy.”
Kid glares, “What did you say?”
“Nothing,” Killer is quick to say as he’s totally hiding a smirk underneath his mask.
Kid gets distracted by Law once again, the two going off into their own little world that Killer has to pull them back in as he asks,
“Did you ever figure out where this log pose is taking us?”
It’s what they’ve been doing since Nami gave it to him from Smoker. It also helped to get them away from most chaos so Law could have his heat in peace, as the two didn’t leave Kid’s bedroom for a whole week.
Law goes quiet, his smile small as his eyes go so soft,
“I did.”
Kid perks up, “Where are we going then?”
Not that Kid minded because he’d drop everything for Law but he was curious.
“If my calculations are correct…” Law starts before he’s looking out to see the island approaching off the horizon.
As a mixture of emotions come forth but they weren't so heavy anymore.
“It leads to Corazon…”
The two are left in awe, realizing that they were heading to a grave. The place where Smoker and the marines must’ve laid Corazon’s body to rest.
The heart pirates all stand there with tears in their eyes next to the Kid’s pirates as they wait back on the ship and watch Kid and Law go ahead. Where already they can see multiple graves of fallen marines and loved ones as Law and Kid walk hand in hand through the grass.
Kid can feel Law’s hand trembling slightly as his emotions must be going haywire. As this must be the first time he’ll ‘see’ Corazon since that day. So Kid keeps their fingers intertwined. Squeezing his hand in comfort as he remains close. Watching Law as he takes his time in looking for that grave. Giving Law all the time he needed to prepare himself.
Feeling for him as he can sense the moment Law lands his eyes on it. As he not only can physically see how Law’s expression changes on his face, but as he can feel it through the bond between them. The sharp intake of air that then comes out shakily. The uptick in his heart as it skipped a beat before it began pounding in his chest. And all those emotions that came flooding right to the surface.
But mostly happiness at being able to ‘see’ him again. At knowing Corazon could truly rest easy now.
Kid stops beside Law, giving him a moment before speaking,
“Whenever you’re ready.”
Law nods, having to close his eyes for a second and Kid can see the tear that slides down his cheek. Kid reaching up with his free hand to swipe it away with his thumb before it falls off. Law leans into his touch, his eyes opening to meet his,
“I want you to meet him,” Law says and he means it.
He wants to share his special person with the love of his life. So they move forth, Law letting out another deep breath before they stop before his grave. His eyes watering more as he takes in the name.
Donquixote Rosinante
He can’t help but smile, at knowing that he had a proper burial and that the marines cared enough to do it. That they were able to retrieve his body after Doflamingo left him there to be covered in the snow. At knowing Smoker had to have been the one to do it. And he would need to run into him again to thank him.
“Cora-san…” Law breathes out with emotions laced in his voice.
Kid remains quiet, letting Law gather himself as the omega then looks to him,
“I want you to meet Eustass Kid,” Law then looks towards the grave as he continues, “The person you told me about when I was a child. The one you said was out there for me. And though I told you back then that I didn’t believe you…I lied. I’m glad that you kept telling me stories about love. I’m happy that you kept giving me hope when I thought I would die from my disease. Because of you, Cora-san…I’m whole again…I’m happy…I’m free…I have a second chance at life…and I can sail out to sea and go on those silly adventures we talked about…and I get to do it with my mate by my side…”
Law ends with a genuine smile even as tears are falling. They’re happy tears too as he thinks back of his times with Corazon. As he thinks about the good times with his nakama and Kid.
It’s at this moment that Kid notices something blowing in the wind of the grassy area. Of something light and black that falls down near them.
A black feather
“Another one?” Kid lets out and it grabs Law’s attention as the alpha picks it up.
“What is it?” Law asks as he wipes his eyes with the sleeve of his shirt.
“This--these feathers…they were there back in Dressrosa too. When I lost control, I remember seeing these and then hearing a voice…” Kid trails off as he doesn’t understand where the black feathers were coming from.
As there wasn’t a bird nearby that flew over them---
He stills as he looks up and that’s when he sees it on the top of the grassy hill. The person who looked just like the picture Law had drawn and Sanji had worn a disguise of.
No way…
Law notices his expression and goes to look in the same direction, his eyes going wide as he sees this person too.
“Cora-san…”
As Corazon was standing there with his black feathered coat, that smile on his face and hands in his pockets. Just like he remembered him.
The wind starts to blow in their direction and Law swears he hears something.
‘I love you, Law’
Law lets out a hitched sound as he swore he could hear the voice of Corazon. As he finds Corazon fading off into the sky. Birds suddenly flying past and off into the open blue. As if signaling that he’s free.
They’re both free
“I love you too, Cora-san…” He lets out as he tries to hide his face with more tears falling.
Kid holds him, letting Law have this moment as he hopes it’ll help to fully heal him. To give him that closure he needed to be able to move on and live for himself…
It was some time later as they stood by the two ships, Law no longer crying and smiling up at him softly,
“I’m afraid it’s our time to part for now.”
Kid instantly frowns, “What? Why?”
Law is still smiling though as he runs fingers over the alpha’s chest to keep him calm,
“I have some business to attend to but I’m not going for long, don’t worry.”
“I’ll go with you,” Kid insists and Law shakes his head,
“Now, Eustass-ya, you know how I work. Besides, you need to continue on your road to becoming the pirate king.”
“You’re running away again,” Kid is pouting as he doesn’t like this.
“No, not this time. Not ever,” Law is quick to reassure him as he touches the mating bite, “No matter how far apart we are, I’m still with you.”
Kid knows that, he just doesn’t want to part with the male physically just yet. But he understands that Law has things he needs to do. Things he’s able to do now that he’s free.
“I still wish I could hold your heart physically again though,” Kid admits and Law finds him to be so cute right now.
Chuckling as he leans up to kiss the alpha, the two sharing several kisses as they can never just do one.
“But Eustass-ya,” Law starts, his smirk coming forth as he leads the alpha’s hand to come down to rest over his stomach, “I now have something of yours growing inside of me.”
Kid is stunned by this, like completely malfunctioning before he finds Law teleporting off and back onto his submarine. The heart pirates are already moving into position and the submarine is ready to submerge under water.
“Trafalgar! What do you mean by that?! Are you---Hey! You get your ass back here right now!” Kid hollers out.
Law just smirks and blows him a kiss,
“Until next time, alpha.”
Law heads inside, the submarine going underwater as Kid squats down and runs fingers into his hair.
Killer comes to stand next to him, wondering why his captain was malfunctioning like so.
“Are you not going after him?” Killer asks as his captain was too distracted to see the multiple hickey marks on his neck and collarbone that they’re not going to talk about here.
So maybe this distraction was good for once before Killer knew that Kid would chase after Law like old times.
“Is he fucking with me? Was it just to distract me so he could get away or was he serious?” He begins mumbling and Killer is actually growing worried.
Especially when Kid grabs at his shirt while he’s on his knees,
“Killer, I don’t know if I’m ready for a child or not!”
Silence falls between them before Killer sighs fondly and begins walking away while talking,
“You two really need to work on healthier ways of parting from each other as well…”
“Killer! You can’t just leave me like this! Tell me what to do!” Kid gets up and starts going after him.
Killer leading him back to the ship as Kid was already pacing on the upper deck,
“Oh, when I find Trafalgar again I swear I’m gonna punch him with my lips!”
Killer nods in amusement as Kid keeps going. Talking about how he was gonna fight Law and shower him in love. Making sure he would ‘beat’ Law up by covering his entire body in love markings and bites. And making him cry from over-stimulation. As that’ll surely teach him.
Once again, those two had a weird love but Kid was right…
They were perfect for each other…
