it all started with an accident

Chapter 2: a little accident could lead to trouble.

Notes:

CHAPTER TWOOOOOO RAHHHH

The premises of this fic starts with the Origins episode, but its written in my own perspective. So there might be some differences between canon and non-canon things. We're met with a more chaotic, bada** (lol), unhinged, and yes- clumsy but loveable Marinette. Adrien is still as blind as he can be, but only in the ways that matter. He has more to what meets the eye. Chloe is still unsufferable, Alya still remains as big of a fan of superheros, but she has a special place in her heart for up and coming celebs. Nino is more quiet but always is up to defend Adrien. Marinette doesn't really like Adrien-granted-- she barely knows who Adrien is-- so she's not obsessed with him.....just yet.

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

Marinette's POV:

As I left the bakery, the smell of croquettes and warm, chocolate-filled crossiants drifted in the air. School was fairly close, but I was dreading walking over./p>

I was pulled out of thought when a car honked at me. I glanced and yelled a drowsy, "Sorry!" as I jogged across the street. Then, I heard the early bell ring.

"Shoot. Shoot."

I rushed inside, quickly clipping my hair into a messy bun, suddenly tripping on the dark grey pavement.

Ouch. "Can't be late. Can't be late."

(Side-note: Marinette is almost never late. In fact, she's almost early when she's stressed. Especially very stressed.)

I quickly got up and made it to the bottom of the stairs, followed by Alya, whom I didn't notice was right behind me.

"Girl-- are you alright?" She chuckled, moving her hair out of her face.

I sighed. "Yeah- stressful morning." I said, moving slowly up to Bustier's room.

She rubbed my back softly, causing me to smile softly. She always knew how to make me feel better. "You're not even late. You're six minutes early. But- thanks for making it though. I didn't want to walk in only to hear Chloe bragging about a new Cartier bag, or how her Dad bought her a new wardrobe over holiday."

I chuckled.

Alya's eyes widened. "Do you know THE Adrien Agreste is going to be coming to our school? Rumor is-- he's in our class."

"Adrien Agreste? As in-- the model? The pretty boy who's probably a douche?"

"Duh." Alya smiled, showing me the annoying ad on her phone.

"Radiant...Carefree....Dreamy." I zoned out, hearing the perfume ad in the back of my mind. Why was she so obsessed with Paris's new and bright, upcoming celebrities? As I tuned back in, I saw his smile and dramatically rolled my eyes.

"Why are you obsessed with the Agreste Brand and Family?" I leaned against the balcony, next to the stairs.

"Why are you not?" Alya scoffed, jokingly.

"I just don't think they're that special. Gabriel is so close-minded. He never comes out of his studio. And not to mention his son! Someone with that good of a jawline and lots of his daddy's money certainly can't be a nice person either!"

"You barely even know him! You always have these pre-conceived notions about people before you even meet them."

"And you know him personally, Alya? Be serious. When am I ever wrong about people?"

"I am being serious!" She laughed, "He can't be that bad of a person." Alya pushes the door open. I roll my eyes, chuckling, as I walk in to see a blonde boy at my desk with a gum wrapper on the floor. Chloe is cackling away, as she looks at me and points.

"Dupain-Cheng!" She sneers.

"Bourgeouis." I coldy stare.. This hateful tension between us is so thick that I can practically cut it through with a knife. She's just the worst.

"What are you doing at our desks, Chloe?" Alya raises an eyebrow, questioning Chloe as she gets closer and closer. Almost like she's an angry predator ready to pounce away to catch its prey.

As Chloe walks out of fear to get out of the way, I see a blonde boy stand tall. The view of my half of my seat was finally clear.

"Why is there gum on my chair?" I furrowed my top lip over my bottom lip.

The blonde boy looked guilty. Almost as if he put it there.

"I s-swear I didn't put it there. I was just trying to get it off your seat." The blonde boy spoke, looking at me with a red blush on his face.

"Adri-kins!" Chloe screeched loudly. "You tease!"

"You must be the infamous Adrien Agreste." I cleared my throat, looking him up and down.

"I-I" He also cleared his throat. "I am. But- uh, that doesn't matter." He started to bend down to clean up the mess he had...probably made. "I swear I didn't put it there." He eyed Chloe, an ashamed look on his face.

"Step back." I whispered angrily.

And to that, he obeyed.

"I don't care if you set it there. But what DOES matter is I already don't like you, Agreste. You're insensitive," I grabbed the wrapper and started trying to get the chewed gum off my seat, " You're mean. And you're not as high and mighty as you think you are."

"Who said anything about high and mighty?" Adrien's eyebrow raised, looking at me from below.

I dead-pan stared at him, as I finished cleaning the gum off the seat, leaving the gum in the wrapped wrapper. The seat was clean again.

"Here." I hand him the wrapper. "Go throw this in the trash, and see if a better personality is in there as well."

He seemed shocked. Like a strong, daring woman like myself had never stood up to him like that before.

Mrs. Bustier walked into the classroom, interrupting the moment.

"Ok, class! Take out your notebooks and assigned book. Let's get class started."

Adrien's eye contact left mine as he did as he was told with his head hanging low. He returned to his seat, which was across from mine.

Alya smiled and whispered, "Wow, who are you and what did you do to Marinette?"

"Here's to a new school year without being tortured by Chloe and her gang of followers." I held a strained smile and looked up at the chalkboard.
