Chapter Text

Robby rode gas along the country side his steed practically collapsing as he stopped in different towns seeking the tan priest. His questions though pointed him in varying directions taking him from town to town like a desperado on a lovers quest.

He came into a quaint little town not too far from a larger city, the signage reading Pasa Rosa as he rode in the townsfolk looked at him curiously, his once prestige clothing had dirtied from the dust of the desert, his hair sticking to his head but his eyes determined and cutting. He found a stopping point and walked his horse in the equine creature practically sighing in relief. Robby found an inn that held stables beside it and tied his horse to a post while he entered.

Hello sir, could I get a room? ” Robby asked the inn keeper his dark hair sprouting bits of silver and sprinkling in his beard. He looked at Robby quizzically before nodding and rustling around to get a room key.

That’ll be 20 pasos. ” He said simply. Robby gave him the coins and took the key. He found his room then decided to get some food and ask about Miguel.

The town despite its size and the time was fairly active. The streets crowded with people moving and living lives completely separate from Robby’s. He sighed and then straightened his back and attempted to make himself look more presentable. He made his way to the local tavern where a few drunk men loitered and sized him up. He ignored them and entered.

He was hit with lots of noise and music, he smiled at the ladies who looked him over and they turned their noses up. Robby internally rolled his eyes, annoyed at himself for letting his hygiene fall to pieces. The bar top was sparely populated and the bar keep gave him a tired look before asking what he wanted.

I’ll just have whiskey and information if you have any. ” Robby added the last bit on with the most charming smile he could muster. The man peered as him as he poured the brown liquid into the cup.

What kind of information? ” He asked cautiously. Robby became acutely aware of the two people he was situated between and noticed on listening in. He brushed it off.

A priest that came from San Hilgo, he’s said to have been heading this way. You see anyone like that? ” He asked lowly. The bar keep narrowed his eyes and thought for a second before responding.

What business do you have with a priest from Saint Mary’s? ” He was stand off ish and appeared to be uncomfortable with the topic looking for an out if he didn’t like Robby’s answer. Robby sighed.

It’s nothing like that, he’s a friend of mine and I wanted to make sure he got home safely. ” He said genuine exhaustion and concern lacing his voice as though he’d heard it all before. Mostly because he had, the stories of the numerous ex-priests who had committed various sins and misdeeds against so many the simple mention of searching for a priest could make some completely shut down. The bar keep eyed him longer now before finally relaxing and leaning close to Robby.

He’s headed to Atlixco. ” He’d said simply and then held out a hand for the money an exchange like this would increw. Robby passed him the pasos and then threw back the whiskey the burn invigorating him. He stood and walked out the door and straight to his hotel, and smile growing as he got closer.

One more day and I’ll have him back, wait for me my fair love.
