Also, I don't mean this story to offend anyone; I was born and raised Catholic and still practice the faith, so I hope nobody takes offense. If anything I've written in this story comes off as insensitive, I'm truly sorry. A lot of Eddie's internal thoughts are a reflection of how I've struggled with my faith over the years. There's nothing wrong with being Catholic; as I said earlier, I am one myself.

Conquering doubts about going to Columbia University, making good friends, and not shoving his feelings down long enough to become Foggy's boyfriend should've left Matt in a better place to enter his second year of law school. However, there are still things his new boyfriend doesn't know, like his work at The Scratch Club, his past, or the simple fact that he doesn't know what it means to actually date someone.
The boys' picture-perfect romance was supposed to be the highlight Karen's otherwise messed-up life, she tied herself to. They had promised not to be idiots this year, but with the way their first year ended, she should've known better. Add that to the new partnership between her, Felicia, and the Nine Lives, Karen is sure they're all in for a long year.

A decade later, a dear friend of his dies of the same illness, merely days before they were supposed to meet after being apart for months. What was the reason for the recurrence of this illness? Could he have done something?
On his way to town, he meets a polite physician by the name of Doctor Hannibal Lecter, who promises to investigate this illness. Are there any answers to be had?
