Chapter 21: Epilogue

Chapter Text

Freshman year starts off very differently than the previous year for Peter. Even though he failed to make it to the last day of the last year and hadn't been really an excellent friend at all, he has friends waiting for him near his locker. He's a bit relieved at that.  Being a little bit of an outcast had sucked at times, but now Ned and MJ's here with him. He knew everyone is staring at him as he walks down the hall but he just doesn’t care anymore. There were so many people in the crowd that he’s certain they can’t do anything about it.

Peter, oh Peter! Hey, Peter! Abe is calling out to him to head over next to his locker. He has a handful of books close to his chest.  "I didn't know you would be coming back this year," he said as Peter pauses in front of him.

Peter raised a brow. "Why not?"

Abe frowned slightly. "I thought maybe..." His face was flushed with some kind of emotion, and his hands fiddled with the book before shoving it into Peter's direction. "I mean, Flash said you were expelled because you know you are poor."

"Well, he wasn't right."

Peter blinked, then shook his head.

"So, yeah, I just thought since you were absent mostly last year.. I thought maybe Flash was right." Abe looked around awkwardly.

"Well I'm here aren't I?" Peter said flatly. And walked towards Ned and MJ.

"Hey, loser. You're late," MJ greeted.

"Everyone semes so surprised that I'm back." Peter sighed.

"You've Flash to thank for that." MJ replayed flatly.

And squeezed his shoulder walking away. Ned squeaked at Peter when Mj was out of earshot.

"What?" Peter asked.

"She totally likes you?" Ned whispered, eyes wide, almost popping out of their sockets.

"No, she does not!" Peter replied,  flushing, and he tried to shake it off, but he can feel Ned grinning next to him.

 "Shut up, dude."

 Ned laughed.

Tony picks Peter up from school himself, no Happy in sight Morgan was in the booster seat eagerly waving at him.  "Peter!" She squealed happily.

"Hello Morgan." Peter kissed her cheek .

"Hey, kid." Tony greeted as he ruffled Peter's hair.

 "How was school?"

"Good,." Peter smiled.

"We're going for Ice-creams daddy said so." Morgan stated   matter of factly.

"Yeah we're going for ice cream to celebrate making it through the first day of school." Tony said.

"Cool," Peter said, grinning.

" Peter-" Tony turned to look at him. Mogan sleeping in her booster seat.

"Yes, dad."

"I think Queens is kinda missing Spider-Man, don't you think." Tony asked looking smug.

Peter blinked in surprise before smiling again. "Dad!"

Tony pulled a face. “Don't get too excited." He said as he pulled over to the tower.

"Your Mom have a bunch of rules  about you going  out as Spider Man"  he started off picking Morgan up trying not to wake her up.

"Like what?” Peter asked.

"Wait till we reach home," Tony said with a smile.

When they stepped inside the floor Pepper was waiting for them.

"Hey Mom dad said I could go out as Spider-Man again.'' Peter grinned. "So does that count for permission?"

"Of course it does! But we have some ground rules." Pepper  said firmly, folding her arms across her chest.

Peter sighed. "Okay, mom.""

Pepper cleared her throat as she leaned against the counter in the kitchen. "First rule. school comes first, You slack off you loss Spider-Man." Peter nodded eagerly

"Second rule. You have a curfew at 12 you should be home by then not a second late."

"But-"

"Third rule." Pepper took hold of his chin gently and lifted up his face so that he looked her directly in the eyes, even though his head was lower than hers.

"If Spider Man isn't patrolling or being Spider Man, you have to take care of yourself, understand? You have to be Peter Stark"

"Final rule '' Tony cut them off " If you want to do this you do this safely, which means you don't get to swing in those onesie of yours.'

"Not a onesie" Peter grumbled.

His Pout turned into a smile as he saw the brand new suit in his father's hand. "Can I try it on now?" he asked eagerly.

Tony smirked. "Sure thing, but first you have to eat dinner. "

After dinner he stood at the top of the building. With an arm hooked over the ledge he looked out into New York.

He couldn't help but notice that something was different in the air. Something that reminded him of how far away everything was from where he stood. It was strange, but it felt nice, peaceful. He let himself fall and just before he hit the ground

he let loose the web shooters. The webs whizzed through the air faster than lightning. His stomach swoops with every swing, like he's flying above the city itself. It's a rush unlike anything he's ever experienced. It's exhilarating, and he lets himself enjoy it for one brief moment before stopping on a roof, pulling his mask off as he leans back, letting himself bask in the feeling. It reminds him of how far he'd come,. The thought makes him feel warm and comfortable in a way nothing else has yet.

It makes him feel happy. And it feels good.

He looks out across the skyline as a few clouds cover the sun, bringing twilight along with it.  The wind whips against the edge of his mask and he lets the warmth of the sunset calm him as he takes a deep breath of fresh night air. He closes his eyes and just revels.

Unknown to Peter there was a threat coming towards earth in the form of a purple alien. But that's a problem for future him.
