Chapter Text

“Papa, Thomas, wake up!” Jo chanted coming into their room. Thomas groaned and opened his eyes, sleep now ruined. He checked his phone.

“Jo, it’s seven thirty,” he complained.

Joshua shrugged. “Well you’re up now, so I guess there’s no reason not to get out of bed.”

Many pulled the covers over his head. “I thought that we agreed on eight.”

“It’s almost eight.”

“It’ll be eight by the time you finally get out of bed,” Thomas sided with his adoptive son. “We’re up now, let’s just go.”

“Fine,” said Manuel. “But you have to let me brush my teeth first.”

“Deal,” Joshua finished. Three minutes later, they were all ready to go downstairs for christmas morning.

“Presents or breakfast?” Thomas asked.

Presents,” Joshua and Manuel said at exactly the same time.

Thomas laughed at them. “But of course.”

Joshua was delighted with his gifts, Hugging Thomas and Manu after each one, even if they weren’t the ones to give it.

“Can we please do breakfast now?” Thomas asked. He always loved this part. Well, he loved all the cooking parts. And Christmas was his favourite holiday in general, so everything actually delighted him.

“Waffles,” Thomas said, more to himself than anyone else in the room. “Far superior to pancakes.” One of the few things he couldn’t make for the life of him was pancakes. They always turned out undercooked, or burnt, or greasy, or stuck to the pan. Waffles were amazing, unlike that vile food.

Waffle maker already heating up, he and Jo set about making the batter. It was fairly simple, one they had made so many times, that they didn’t even need the recipe book.

“Eggs, flour, milk, oil, pinch of salt, small amount of sugar,” Joshua narrated as they threw all the ingredients into a bowl.

Thomas looked at his husband, who was just sitting on a stool at the kitchen island. “You wanna help? Or are you just gonna sit there and look pretty?”

“I’d prefer the second option,” Manu smiled at him.

“Go chop some peaches.” Thomas instructed. Manuel did as he was told, cutting two into small cubes.

They are breakfast at the island Manu was previously sitting at, the table occupied as they had already set of for Christmas dinner yesterday.

“Mmm, these are good,” Joshua said, shoving more into his mouth.

“Don’t talk with your mouth full,” Manuel scolded. “And yes, they are.”

“Of course they are,” he said. “Me and Jo made them.” The two of them high-fived.

This was shaping up to be a great Christmas for the little family.

Notes:

I actually finished this, I can’t believe it. It did mean sacrificing my other WIPs for 25 days, but I’ll get back to those now.
