Chapter Text
“Ollie, seriously, why can’t we just stay here in your stupidly large penthouse, call a couple of girls and drink the night awa- OW!?” Roy screeched at the sudden slap to his arm. “We are going to the Justice League Christmas Eve party whether you want to or not!” Ollie argued back. “I mean, c’mon, your hot girl teammates will be there.” The blonde teased.
“Dude, ew, you CANNOT call them hot!” Roy protested, hopping over the couch to see what Oliver was looking for. “Why not? I’m just trying to get you to see there is more to sulking at a party!” Oliver cackled, appearing from god knows where.
“Whatever… Can we go now?” Roy muttered. Oliver smiled at him, “How do I look?” Roy snickered, “Like an asshole that was fucked backwards, why?” Oliver rolled his eyes, “Be honest with me, Roy, a pretty bird is going to be there tonight.” Oh… so THAT is what this was all about, Roy thought to himself. Ollie is trying to score one with a hot blonde babe, typical.
“Cmon kid, we’re running late!” Oliver rushed out the door, hoping Roy was following. The redhead sighed. It couldn’t be all bad, right? As Ollie said, there would be his hot teammates he dreamed about at night. Donna, yeah, she was fucking hot, oh, and Wally had this cousin, and fuck man, she was smoking. Roy smiled to himself. He went from his hot teammates to thinking of the hot pornstar he jerked off to last night.
“Seriously, what is going on with you teenagers!” Ollie groaned, snatching Roy up and forcing him into the car. “WE GOT TO GO ROY.” The redhead could only roll his eyes at the older man’s nagging.

“This party sucks,” Roy muttered to himself. He couldn’t sneak any alcoholic drinks … Wonder Woman is such a buzzkill. Oh, and Donna got sick, so that she couldn’t show up. And if his night couldn’t get any worse, any girls his age that did show up all ran to flirt with Dick fucking Grayson.
“I hate that guy…” Roy groaned.
“Me too, like I seriously don’t see what they see,” a voice agreed with him.
Roy whipped his head, turning to see who was invading his personal space. Oh, it was just Dick’s younger brother. “I never really caught your name.” Roy turned to the younger boy. His eyes were a pretty shade of green. “I like your eyes,” The words left his mouth before he registered what he just said to Dick’s brother.
The younger boy began to blush, "Thanks, Jason.” His voice was muffled under the hundreds that were talking. “No, no, my name is Roy.”
The younger boy rolled his eyes, “No shit, I’m Jason.”
There was awkward silence despite being at a literal party, Roy shoved his freckled hands in his worn-out jeans. “It’s really hot in here.” Jason finally spoke. Roy opened his mouth to respond, but the younger boy had already left through the emergency exit. “The hell…” Roy sighed, following Jason.

After some time, Roy finally found Jason sitting perfectly on a broken rock, and he was smoking a cigarette. “You smoke?” Jason spoke, and Roy was slightly spooked. “Yeah… But I prefer a drink. Too bad Supes and Wonder Woman are guarding the damn alcohol like their lives depend on it.” Roy scoffed, hot air leaving his body as he breathed. He took a seat next to Jason.
Jason spoke without looking at Roy, but at the sky. “I could always sneak you something. Nobody really notices me.” Roy went silent, looking for the right words. “That’s sad, man,” was all he could muster up without sounding like a total asshole. “You get used to it.” Was all Jason said in return.
“Did you mean it?”
Roy was confused when Jason asked that question. Did he mean what? Roy said plenty of things he didn’t mean. “Depends, what did I say and who did I say it to?”
“My eyes…” Jason’s voice was breathy now, barely heard unless you were really paying attention. “Yeah, man, I’ve seen plenty of chicks, but none with eyes like yours.” Roy felt himself heat up. That's weird. The last time he felt like this was when Dick questioned the redhead’s sexuality.

“Are you gay or something?” Dick asked one day after the three boys had finished training. Roy swallowed the lump in his throat, “w-why?” His voice sounded shakier than usual.
“I dunno, you were staring at Garth’s ass reaaal hard.” Wally decided to jump in on the fun of teasing Roy. “Seriously shut the hell up, I was not staring,” Roy muttered. “If anything, he barely has an ass!”
Roy slowly started to regret what he had just said.
“HA, so you were staring!” Dick said with utmost joy.
Seriously, why did it matter so much to them whether he liked boys or not?
“Leave him alone, you guys are so weird.” Donna forced her way into their very loud conversation.
“I'm just saying, can’t be straight if you want to fuck another guy’s as-” Wally’s voice was cut off by the sound of Donna slapping him in the face.

“You good?” Jason’s voice snapped Roy back to reality. “Yeah, just thinking about how much of an asshole your brother is, hah.” Roy tried to joke, as if that entire interaction did not shape the way he viewed his sexuality.
“Yeah, he is a major asshole,” Jason said, dully.
“Like who cares if I like dudes or something.” Roy nonchalantly spoke; well, he tried to sound nonchalant. In reality, every fiber was burning inside him. What if Jason found him disgusting?
“I think dudes are hot.” Was all Jason gave him in response.
Roy smiled, “Yeah, me too.”
“Well, I should get going before Batman realizes I'm gone, again.” Jason sighed, hopping off the rock.
Roy wanted to ask him something, but he was too … scared? That couldn’t be, Roy was never scared to ask for anything.
“When will I see you again?” The redhead managed to ask.
“Dunno,” Jason called back out before disappearing back inside, leaving Roy alone in the cold.
Roy kept his posture, staring into nothingness.
Maybe he should get inside before Oliver finds out he ditched the party; his old man would kill him if he found out he ditched it.

He was in the car now, on the way home with Oliver. Roy was hoping for a silent car ride so he could reflect on everything that happened.
“I'm taking the silence as you lost your virginity to some random girl?” Oliver teased the redhead. ‘What? No … just had a shit ton to drink.” Roy lied, and Oliver knew he was lying. But the older man chose to leave him alone.
“Did she compliment you?” Roy finally asked, snapping out of his thoughts. “Who? The pretty bird? Oh, she did a lot more than compliment me, if ya know what I mean!” Oliver snickered as Roy imitated barfing noises.
“Did you kiss anyone?” Oliver finally asked once the two stopped laughing.
Roy went silent, “No.”
“Why not?” Oliver almost sounded disappointed.
“He didn’t seem like the kissing type.” Is what Roy wanted to say. But instead, he just smiled back at his old man, “Too drunk to flirt?”
Oliver sighed, shaking his head.
“Lord, what am I going to do with you, Harper?”

It was about three in the morning when Roy received a text from an unknown number. He fought back sleepiness and decided to see who was bothering him. If it were Wally, he swore he’d chop his dick off.
Roy lazily put his passcode in and opened his messages.

When am I going to see you again?

Roy couldn’t help but smile at the text message.

There was a long pause after Roy sent off that text. Maybe the unknown number got the wrong person? Roy decided it was time to call it a night and let sleep take over him.
As Roy drifted off to sleep, his phone dinged, unforutanetly he was too tired to check and see if Wally managed to set his kitchen on fire.
