Roy forces his eyes to stay open, he doesn't remember the last time he got precious sleep. Ever since Lian was diagnosed with this unknown deadly disease, sleeping was the last on Roys "list of things to do." He stayed up day and night with Lian, telling her all the things they'd do when she finally got better.
A hoarse voice caused Roy's thoughts to instantly fade. "Daddy.." Lian softly spoke, "I feel..." she paused, "I feel like you lie.." she finally spoke. "Lie about what sweetheart?" Despite the confusion in Roys voice, he knew exactly what she was talking about, even though she was only ten he knew she wasn't dumb.
"You telling me.. i'll make it someday and all... the... t..things w..we do.." It was getting harder and harder for Lian to speak proper and all it did was break Roy into smaller and smaller pieces.
Maybe Ollie was right, maybe Lian should've stayed with him. "I..if..." Lian began to speak again, "I.. d..on..don't m..make .. it..." she paused to catch her breath, "D..d..don't l..let h..him b..blame y...you."
Roy softy grasped onto his daughters hand, he knew her time was coming.. she wasn't improving.
"Please Lian... stay.." He gently rested his head on her bedside, "Stay for me.. I can't fight this battle alone.." Roy began to break down.
Lian was no longer talking
"Please.. don't leave me Lian... please.." Roy felt tears fall from his face, he couldn't imagine losing his daughter
She knew more than she should've, she was a clever young girl... so brave .. if Roy could take away all the pain she was feeling, he would right now.
"Lian... you know you will forever be my little angel, and i'm not ready for you to gain your wings and fly off without me.." Roy couldn't believe he just said that... but it was the truth, he couldn't let go...
Just like when Jason left him, why did everyone have to leave?
"I..d..don't w..wanna g..go d..daddy.." Lian cried
"Save your energy Lian, we still have tomorrow... and.."
Roy felt his heart drop
The small grip that he once felt began to loosen
"Lian?" Roy jolted up and began to shake his daughter rapidly
"WAKE UP LIAN!!" He screamed as he shook her
Roy began to practice CPR on her, anything to keep her alive
It took eight doctors and one police officer to get Roy off of Lian
He couldn't handle himself, his daughter just left him... right before his eyes
And he never got to tell her how much he loved her
But there was no time for that, his little angel gained wings and now it was her time to fly off
"I love you Lian..." Roy mumbled into her stuffed teddy bear.
