Chapter Text
Last night was the first night Jihyo slept in a separate room than her fiancee for the first time in three years. She gets how you’re not supposed to see the person you’re getting married to for “luck” but they had been pining since they were teenagers. They deserved to see each other but whatever , Jihyo would comply to stupid wedding traditions. (She snuck into Nayeon’s room anyway, at the stroke of midnight because fuck not seeing the person you love till you say your vows.)
Now here she was, a 36 year old woman getting the corset of her wedding gown tied by her 21 year old daughter. “Eomma, stop moving!” Yunjin shouted as she tried to lace the back.
“You’re literally moving me !” Jihyo shouted back. “Ugh, maybe I should’ve taken that offer from Saint Laurent to make my gown.”
Jihyo’s gown was a beautifully tailored Oscar De La Renta gown, strapless and lower in the back than the front. The blades of her shoulders and her sculpted back muscles (god bless pilates) glowed in compliment to the pale, milky white of the dress’s skirt. The front had small embroidered carnations in an almost white pink, matching alongside orchids, trailing down and around her torso.
She looked like a sculpture created by one of the old Masters.
“They literally implemented all of your requests, Eomma. You can’t really complain about that.”
“Just let me complain about
something
today, Yunjin.”
“Today should be—”
“Perfect. I know. My wedding planner told me you were micromanaging her.”
Yunjin blushed. “I just want to make sure everything is nice for you.”
Jihyo turned to her daughter, raising an eyebrow. “Yunjin, we’re billionaires. Everything that we do is nice as hell.”
The young ginger rolled her eyes lightheartedly.
“Now. Finish this so you can get changed into your beautiful dress and out of your sweatpants.”
About 2 hours later, the time came.
Jihyo fidgeted with the ring on her finger nervously, chewing on her lip. “I can’t believe this is happening.”
Yunjin rubbed her mom’s arm. “You’ve been waiting for this since before I was born. You can do this.”
The CEO looked up at her daughter, admiring the dress she had chosen. A dark blue silk dress that reached to just below her knees and covered her entire left arm while leaving the right uncovered. “You look beautiful.”
“Not as beautiful as you,” the taller woman shot back automatically, still looking ahead. She held out her arm as a piano started to play delicately. “Shall we?”
Jihyo exhaled shakily. “No time like the present.”
They proceeded down the aisle between the two lines of pews gracefully as a beautiful vocalist (acclaimed recordbreaking singer Myoui Mina of course) started to sing.
Wise men say, only fools rush in…
But I can’t help falling in love with you.
As she finished her song, they reached the altar.
Nayeon looked stunning, as usual. Her brown hair was back in a neat bun, her dress simpler than Jihyo’s, but a pink carnation pinned to her lapel.
They took each other’s hands gently, Jihyo beaming at Nayeon. “You’re gorgeous.”
The older woman laughed and blushed. “
You’re
gorgeous.”
Jeongyeon cleared her throat. “Are you two ready?”
They nodded.
“You may proceed with your vows.”
Nayeon smiled. “Jihyo, we met when we were 6. Ever since then, the two of us have been inseparable. I didn’t realize though, until after you had the most beautiful daughter in the world, how I truly felt. I always knew I loved you, but Yunjin made me realize that the way I loved you was different from how I loved Jeong, or how I loved my university dormmates, Momo and Tzuyu.” Jihyo reached and gently wiped away a tear from Nayeon’s cheek. “Thank you, baby.” She sniffed. “Even then, it took me 17 years to get the guts to confess to you but ever since I did, these days have been the best days of my life. I’m so happy that we’re together, and I can’t wait to spend the rest of our lives together.”
The younger CEO laughed and sniffled. “I’m not even sure how I’m supposed to follow that,” she inhaled. “But I’ll try. Nayeon…” She smiled. “I’m so happy that we’re together. I’m sorry that I took so long but…I’m so happy that we’re finally getting married and I love you so, so much. I’m ready for us to spend eternity with you and I will always stand by you.”
Jeongyeon smirked. “Now, are you ready?”
The brides nodded. “Im Nayeon, do you take Park Jihyo to be your lawfully wedded wife?”
“I do.” Jihyo slipped the ring onto Nayeon’s finger.
“And do you, Park Ji—”
“I DO!”
The crowd started laughing.
Jihyo cleared her throat. “I mean, I do. Sorry.” Nayeon put the wedding ring on Jihyo’s finger.
The officiant laughed. “You may now kiss the bride.”
The kiss at the wedding was something that felt preordained, like a solar eclipse that encapsulated everything that light touched in a shadow of their love and their heart’s desire. The kiss was the universe, born and bleeding, as much as it was a baby wailing it her mother’s arms as the mother’s best friend took the child as her own.
They broke away.
Jihyo gently stroked Nayeon’s cheek. “I love you so much.”
Nayeon smiled. “I love you too.”
