Chapter Text
When Obi-Wan came back, things went back to some kind of normal. No, that wasn’t true. Things were better than normal. The only thing that would have made it better would be if Ahsoka was here along with Anakin, Padme, and the twins. Satine had heard all about the twins but she hadn’t gone to meet them yet.
But she knew the time would come.
The calm now was nice. Very nice. Satine knew that with the Jedi Order there were a lot of changes that were happening and that they could affect them one day but at this point they hadn’t yet. They were all just enjoying their time with the family.
Lyra was getting bigger now too and was sleeping through the night. It made everything so much easier. At least at night. But now she was crawling around and that wasn’t making things easy.
But Satine loved seeing her crawl around and explore the space around her. She was such a curious little girl. Maybe one day she would be a pilot or someone else who would explore the Galaxy. She had a good future no matter what. Satine just knew it.
And she couldn’t wait to see the person who she would grow to become.
She was about to mention this to Obi-Wan but then there was a banging in the other room. It sounded like it was from the kitchen. This was surprising in a way since Korkie and Bo never had much interest in cooking. Korkie was getting better at it, but Bo, well… she was good at many other things so it was fine if she wasn’t good at this.
“I’ll check on them,” Obi-Wan said as he got off the bed. He ruffled Lyra’s hair, which was turning out to be strawberry blond. She was so adorable.
“I’ll go with you,” Satine said. “I want to know what is going on.”
Korkie and Bo had a way of getting in trouble. And yes, things were calm now, but she didn’t know what kind of kitchen mess they had gotten up to.
Obi-Wan nodded, and when they got to the kitchen, surprisingly it wasn’t a mess and nothing was on fire. Instead Bo and Korkie were working on cupcakes. They were both putting frosting on them. Every once in awhile Korkie would try the frosting and Bo would give him a look.
“You two are baking?” Satine asked as she adjusted Lyra who was staring at Obi-Wan. She was probably going to be a daddy’s girl like her sister.
“I’m baking and Bo is helping,” Korkie said as he finished frosting the last cupcake.
“I’m keeping you from eating all the frosting,” Bo said with a roll of her eyes. “And that is quite the task.”
Korkie sighed and gave her a look. Satine smiled, glad to see the two of them getting along. She loved that they were now both her children. She was glad that she no longer had to pretend that Bo was her sister.
Adoption could be so good, and it was with Korkie, but giving up Bo… Satine had never wanted to do such a thing. It had killed her. But now all of them were the family that they were always meant to be. And she was happy. So happy.
“That does seem like it would be a hard task,” Obi-Wan said as he came over and took one of the cupcakes. “This was good. You both did a good job.”
Korkie grinned.
“It was my idea to have them made,” Bo said.
Now this did surprise Satine.
“Really?”
“Surprisingly yes,” Korkie said as he handed Satine a cupcake. She took a small bite out of it. It was sweet and tangy at the same time and so good. Even Lyra seemed to be interested in it. They were introducing her to solid food, but she didn’t think it was time to give her sweets just yet.
No doubt she would love them.
“Why?” Satine asked.
“Because today is a special day,” Bo said.
Satine blinked, not sure what day it was. It wasn’t anyone’s birthday but then something came to her. Obi-Wan smiled and went over and hugged Bo.
“The day when I first met you,” Obi-Wan said to his daughter.
Satine couldn’t help but beam. That day had been far from perfect. Bo had been so upset about everything. She hadn’t wanted to have Obi-Wan as a father, and she hadn’t want to have Satine as a mother. Satine knew that she was in pain and now… well, she knew just how much she had been in pain.
But despite it all, it had worked. They had come together as a family.
“I’m glad that you’re my daughter,” Obi-Wan said and he smiled at Bo. “I’m glad all of you are in my family now.”
Bo nodded and hugged him back. It was sweet and it filled Satine’s heart with so much love. She would never not be glad that she had this family.
She would never stop being grateful.
