“You sure you still wanna go to Ryusei’s?” Sae asks as he hops onto his bike, his left feet on the ground, bike tilted to the side.
Today, Sae is not heading to his house, but to Shidou’s house instead. Kaiser asked why when they left the disappointing meeting. Sae just said he wanted to. There was no other reason for it.
Kaiser scoffs. Why is he even here with this fucking underlashes anyway?
“My apartment is close to Shidou’s. I’ll walk my way home. It’ll be fine,” Kaiser drags out the last word.
Sae shrugs. “Whatever you say.”
Kaiser sits on the bike, and Sae starts pedalling, the world leaving Kaiser behind.
Two vibrations ring in his pocket. Kaiser takes out his phone and sees the messages Ness sent. With annoyance, he opens the app and texts him.
“...Can you turn down the brightness of your fucking phone? It’s fucking blinding,” Sae suddenly asks. The wind blows on Kaiser’s forearm.
“Hmm,” Kaiser hums.
“Kaiser.”
“What?”
“Did you hear what I said? Are you fucking deaf?” Sae spits.
“To be honest, I was just ignoring you there,” Kaiser smiles.
Sae rolls his eyes. “I’m dropping you off here.”
“Okay. Fine. I’m sorry.” Kaiser glosses over Ness’ text message. He then lowers the brightness and turns off his phone. “Can’t even handle little jokes.”
Sae stops the bike and tilts it to the direction where Kaiser would be falling. Kaiser holds onto the edge of the seat for dear life.
“Sae! Okay. Stop. I apologise!”
Sae scoffs. He pushes his bike back up, letting Kaiser catch his breath after getting the glimpse of the afterlife from nearly falling. Saw continues his bike way home.
“Who were you texting anyway? Sounded fun.” Sae’s question was full of sarcasm. Kaiser wants to punch him.
“Alexis,” Kaiser says simply.
“Did he ask you to go home with him?”
“An hour ago, yeah.”
“What—” Sae slows down the bike. He turns around just slightly so his eyes are still visible under the night. “And you didn’t respond to him?”
Kaiser shrugs, ignoring Sae’s stare. “I didn’t say yes.”
“But did you say no?” Sae is so clearly smart when it comes to arguments, despite being stupid in most school subjects, shockingly. And it makes Kaiser wish for his own death. “Apologise.”
“Huh?” Kaiser wipes his eyes.
“Apologise. To Ness,” Sae orders.
“You’re telling me to apologise? You?” Kaiser asks, holding a laugh. But in reality, he just wanted this topic to be changed.
“You need someone to at least babysit you. And if it isn’t Mr. Noa, it’s me.”
“I did not ask you to.”
“Apologise.”
“Alexis doesn’t care—”
“I will swerve into traffic and kill us both with this bike.”
“Fine! Sheesh.”
Saying sorry to Ness… That’s a foreign concept in their friendship. Ness says sorry almost all the time. Kaiser never does.
Kaiser looks at the last message Ness sent. It’s “Sorry” with a sad face. And in fact, Ness did just apologise.
Kaiser sighs as he types out I’m sorry on the keyboard. But as he was about to hit send, Kaiser felt gravity pulling him to delete and say a different statement.

Kaiser smiles at the little smile Ness would always send the end.
Sae makes a disgusted noise.
“Gross.”
Kaiser huffs, pushing Sae’s back slightly. “You fucking do this with Shidou in front of everyone, don’t act like you’re the victim here, dickhead.”
“But you guys aren’t dating yet.”
“That doesn’t make that okay!”
“You’re making it sound like we made out in public.”
“And you made it sound like I cried about Ness the entire time! I’ll leave you alone if you leave me alone.”
“Fine. Fair.” Sae suddenly pulls the brakes. Kaiser is pushed forwards to hit Sae’s back from the sudden force, only to lose balance and fall alone out of the bike. “We’re here by the way. Now fuck off.”
Kaiser brushes himself off the ground. “Hey! What the fuck—”
The lights to the house in front of him turns on. The door falls open. The demon appears in the night, acting nothing demon-like than anything. “Saeee-chaaan!”
“Oh my god,” Kaiser utters.
“Hahaha! Felt your presence from far away!” Shidou says with such confidence and pride. His voice echoes past neighbourhoods.
Sae hops off his bike and pulls it into Shidou’s front yard. “Cool.”
“Why didn’t you tell me you’d come over though?” Shidou asks, following beside him.
“Because you’d know anyway.”
“That’s true!” Shidou stops his steps. He looks back, finally noticing the awkwardly-standing Kaiser. “Why is there a lizard in my front yard?”
Kaiser glares at him. It’s too late for this. “Fuck you too, insect.”
“Hahaha!” Shidou howls a loud laughter. “God, you sound just like—”
“Ignore him.” Sae is already at Shidou’s front porch. “Let’s go, Ryusei.”
“Aww.”
Shidou and Sae vanished from Kaiser’s presence.
Kaiser finds himself opening Ness’ text message again. His heart drops.
He realises he’s a third year; this is his last year here. These past few years in Blue Lock were the only times he feels happy and he doesn’t have to take things seriously.
Will he find that happiness again once he has graduated?

Isagi and Bachira were walking together to their next period. Then, Bachira saw someone at the distance.
“Sae-chan! Shidou!” Bachira greets with Isagi following behind.
They were about to head to their first class, but Bachira saw Sae and Shidou leaning against the window, Shidou talking gibberish to Sae. Being the sun he is, he asked Isagi if he could greet them. It’d be a crime if Isagi said no.
“Good morning!” Bachira says, waving his hand around them.
Sae just stares at him, squints his eyes, before humming. “Mhm, morning.”
Shidou, however, shines beside him. “☀️”
“Ah,” Bachira pauses. He tilts his head, raising his eyebrow. “Huh? Wait, what did you say?”
“🤗” Shidou says. When Isagi said Shidou was speaking gibberish, he did not mean literally. But this was literally.
Isagi blinks. “What—”
“Don’t mind him. He’s speaking emojis.” Sae pushes himself off the wall. “Let’s go, Ryusei.”

Sae and Shidou walk side by side to their next class. Isagi and Bachira watch with confusion.
“He looks happy to be in school,” Bachira comments.
“Yeah.”
